#21 Radio Repair: Troubleshooting Kenwood TS-2000 weak receive , Part 1 

I bought my TS-2000 used with very low receive. Not knowing that Kenwood was doing the repairs free, I ordered filters and a few clamping diodes from Mouser Electronics. The task was rather daunting but I used my digital camera, taking many pics. The job was successful and the rig now is great on receive and pretty quiet!

Great job. Thanks a lot. My 2000 recently got very low receiving. Only loud stations. With the help of your video I found the reason soon. It was D7 diode damaged. Also I tested T1. It showed 10V instead of 13 both in RX and TX and probably that was the reason of the diode damage. Replaced Q1 and D7 and it works as new now. 73! Alex UT5C

Hi, I have a problem with TX, when I press the PTT the signal goes out but no voice . I turn off the transceiver and I press the PTT and then I can talk. I need help

Just a thought. When you first get a radio with weak receive do you first check to see if is simply off frequency? Otherwise you might spend time looking for problems that don't exist.

my sub radio is COMPLETELY deaf .. i mean NOTHING ! but the main is ok..but it will TX on both.. and ideas ? ??
