Ima tell y'all a story i had with this song over the summer: I live in the Chicagoland area, I went to go travel to my grandmas house on the south side, by 95th and Jeffery, about a mile east of Chicago State university which is also where South Stony Island begins. I left her house on a Thursday night around 9 because I had other plans to do. I was going to meet up with some girl at a small public beach on the Northside of Chicago, where I was born. This was 3 weekends after the 4th of July, so this mixtape just dropped and as I left the block my grandma was on, I was thumping this song. Heading towards lake shore drive about to head up north and I actually got a tad bit sad while playing this on 79th and Jeffery. 79th is a infamous street in Chicago and if I were to head maybe 10-15 blocks west I'd be on the outskirts of one of the worse neighborhoods in America, Englewood. Just to think how a song can be so beautiful and grimy got me once I hit lake shore drive. I replayed it 2x more times because I'm leaving a area I don't live at to see a beautiful brown skin girl at a beach on a weekday night away from all this violence and negativity that sweeps heavy on the south side. My grandma lives in a average neighborhood. But I was around some gutter hoods to a certain extent. Roseland which is south of her is terrible. The whole area I drove through wasn't a place u want to just get out and hang out with ur boys on some random shit. The weekend started up the next day and I knew somebodies life that night was going to end and somebodies life during the weekend was going to end. I could go way deeper but this shit has a lot of meaning to you. Idk what made want to cut this track on considering I don't listen to a lot of trap but it's not all that glamorous out there man. It's not, but my night ended dope af. You talk about hearing suddle moans from a distance from the girl I was veining up heavy if you were to walk ur dog at 12am near the beach. Shit was 🔥 R.I.P.
