Something I would LOVE to hear - for those of you who nerd out about file hierarchy and making stuff accessible and simple - how do you organise your files on your computer? What's the best system in your opinion? A bit of a niche question but I'd love to hear thoughts!
The highest level of my organisation system is personal versus teaching (secondary Science teacher here) versus JashiiCorrin. After that, my teaching files are sorted as admin, app resources, and then a separate folder for each of my classes (which are then broken down by topic/archive/exams). My personal files are sorted mainly by file type or period of life (e.g. university folder with separate papers in sub-folders, photos folder with separate yearly folders, etc.) My content creating stuff is pretty much all in the 'Videos' folder with sub-folders of finished videos, music/sound, thumbnails, pictures, vlog footage and a bunch of stuff just kicking around free-floating in the folder 😅 That's mainly reserved for files that are currently in use though, so they get stored/deleted after use 😊
I have a separate folder for each part of my life and project. So one for the home business I want to start, one for fitness, one for recipes, one for games etc. everything is on the left side of my desktop in even lines (I’m obsessed with aesthetically pleasing desktops)
On another note, do you do or plan to do any meet and greets? Your advice has changed my life and I live Brisbane North side so if you were to ever do one near you, I’d totally do the drive!
I start with some kind of general system like dividing into uni, family, writing, home, etc. and in each folder I group things according to class, family member, project and so on. The most game changing part has been to label ALL my files by Year-Month-Day-Name (for example: 2020-12-20-project outline). It makes it so easy to find anything because it is sorted by a specific date (not necessarily the date I added or last changed the item). Definitely a habit worth starting and also great for photos. BTW looooove the video! I will start a digital declutter soon. XO 👩🏼💻
I appreciated the "pause the video and do this now" 😋 except now I'm stuck at 3 minutes because my computer clutter distracted me and I've gone down a rabbit hole of files from 10 years ago 😅😂
I just finally got my laptop repaired after the keyboard has been kinda broken for quite a while now and I just got it back today, so this video comes at an absolute perfect time!!
amazing!!! I didn't know where to start and this walked me through my whole process! And now I'm all done after two hours and I've decided to take a social media month off in January.
This was such a good reminder to start clearing out my stuff! It was so nice to pause the video, declutter stuff, watch the next step, pause the video, etc. it worked very well and my computer is way more organized now!
This is just what I needed... I sat last night and followed all of the steps 🙂your videos are soo helpful and always make me feel motivated even when I'm feeling stuck in a rut. Thank you xx
Did I just maybe spend about an hour emptying my desktop and downloads? Had over a 1000 files in my downloads... so this video came in desperate need! Been having some bad days lately and decided on binge watching your videos today to help me get back in the right swing of things! Thanks for all the great content!
Love love love all your videos! I did one of your reset playlists a year or two ago but feel I’m due a new life reset 🙌🏻 I’m from England and we’ve just gone back into lockdown so this is how I’ll be filling my time! ❤️
I organize teaching in an archive folder with each course (e.g., PSCI 1101, American Politics) given its own folder so I can reference it when I teach the course again. Current courses are organized with Classes (my notes and slides), Lectures (if it is an online course), and Exams. My writing is laid out as Published, WIP (for short stories), Submitted and then each novel has its own folder (I also use Evernote and Scribner for notes).
I wonder if I'll ever be in a place to do my digital declutter in one day. It was so cute to hear "pause this video to do this" :)) I mean, just going through screenshots is taking me three days. I have to do other stuff during the day, of course, but still, I guess I have to learn to let go of some things :)) p.s. Love your videos. practical, insightful, thought provoking
Can you please do this type of videos for every kind of decluttering🥺🥺This pause and do it was soooo helpful. Am all happy with my digital space😁. P.S. You missed the saved spaces in apps like saved folders on Instagram, I like to keep them useful as well. I hope this helps someone😊

This is super complete as a digital manual for decluttering. I’m super organized and this is exactly everything I do as well. Congrats on such complete video step by step guide.
I think that declutting my digital life will take me hours or even days 😅 But I will definietly do it ! I've started with my desktop thanks to you and I am super happy! ❤️

Also, for useful screenshots I create a folder on my iPhone called “attachments” to storage them and to find things easily.
My uni classes for my second term start next week and I’m so tempted to complete start my phone organisation again . My laptop is not so bad as I keep on top of it
Thanks so much for this Video! I love getting my life together with your help. I'm trying to be very organised when it comes to organising files and applications so I love those kinds of videos. Lots of Love ❤
To anyone reading this, I hope you’re feeling well and having a lovely day! Stay safe and remember to keep smiling in these weird times, sending lots of love from a small RU-vidr❤️ ❤️
Am I the only one who has over 30.000 photos on their phone? I just don’t know how to declutter it 🥺😂. Btw, thank you for inspiring me for my own RU-vid channel!🤗❤️
Download Google photos, there is an option to delete photos from device but kp them all in Google photos, so they aren't taking up device space. Please note tho, if you delete from Google photos it is gone forever. So I'd definitely start with Google photos, watch some tutorials, to make sure u don't lose any precious photos. I would literally make this a job to do, take 15mins/30mins each day to do this. You can do it!!
@@rudig5698 once you have them all on Google photos start from the oldest one & delete ones not needed from Google photos. You will continue to take photos each day, so they will always get added to Google photos, so if you are wanting to kp on top of it & when you've the back log cleared it will be an easy daily job at the end of each day to delete the pics you dont want. You will feel so good when you start tackling it!
Hi Michelle! Love your content and this video will really help me finally declutter my PC and phone! Just wondering, what is the application you are using when unsubscribing from emails? It looks like a specific website you are using, I’d love to know what it is to make that step so much easier!
declutter photos, files, screenshots regularly you don't want to be in a dilemma where they're over 5 year old and u wanna hang on to them for the "memories"
Do you use different devices for different work related activities? I would imagine editing clips is easier on the desktop but doe your devices have a specific purpose?
Just curious: did your antivirus software find any virus on you PC ever? Why do I ask? I heard that no viruses exist for Mac and it is the reason why I choose Mac.
Hi i have a question. Is digital planning better than paper planning? I want to do digital planning because I don’t want to always throw away the paper planners after finishing it but paper planning seems to be more effective???
It's really personal preference. Yes, analog planners create waste which digital planners don't. But I find myself feeling much more secure that I have everything I need written down when I actually write dates and tasks down in a physical planner compared to a digital one. I'd say try out digital, if it doesn't work you can always switch back to a paperback planner :)
ugh my files have been years in the making of a total f'ing MESS. i was bad at keeping them organised, i have grown into two other computers, my old laptop keeled over and had to be recovered so all those files are organised by file type instead of my old ways AND renamed to random letters with no metadata, i've had to move things around, and my sis' fiance decided to 'help' and moved everything to photos/icloud, effectively ruining my life further. and when i thought my phone was gonna wipe the vids of a NIN concert i had yet to back up from couple days earlier, i bought icloud as a panic moment to not make me reset my phone so that's always filling up. plus i have so many photos and footage since i love photography/videography to sort through... :\ and to top, i kept changing my method of organisation. this is just something i gotta put an hour or two into daily and it's so frustrating. idek how to organise photos/vids most effectively anymore. i just wanna command-a-delete lmao.
What kind of camera that can be snapped on your computer that is over 100 bucks that is a good price and last a long time to work on for workout videos for kids with disabilities??? Do you know that is in that price range???
The wisdom in this content is remarkably profound. A book with akin insights led to substantial personal enlightenment. "A Life Unplugged: Reclaiming Reality in a Digital Age" by Theodore Blaze
Can anyone help me? I'm really really struggling to find self helps books that are actually helpful. I went to the bookstore today in the hope of getting some and came home with nothing because nothing stood out to me. I need something that gives practical advice that I can implement into my life and I feel like majority of self help books are just full of research from studies, motivational quotes and anecdotes. Does anyone have any recommendations of books that has actually made an impact and actually changed their life in some way?
Very different video.... It's unique and the one thing that won't be in any video is she's telling us to "pause the video and do this"....🔥 I never heard this before in any RU-vid videos....
Don't be like me, It pays to listen to the entire segment before going to do the task. I literally just had to google how to turn off suggestions in Google Drive, as soon as I came back to the video "I had to turn off suggestions and here's how!" and there Muchelle was explaining it . SMH! HAHAHA!
