how about some DRY facts? did you know in the gerudo desert near the maze there are two identical pieces of rubble sitting RIGHT next to each other? also, for some reason link doesnt leave footprints in the sand if theres a shadow casting over where he's walking (at least in the sand boots - haven't tested any others.)
I have to say this brought me a lot of joy to watch... and the GENUINELY HIGH EFFORT GAGS! *chef's kiss* to you my friend. Beautiful work. Clearly a very caring and enthusiastic fan of the zelda franchise and someone who easily deserves all the recognition they get and more
Wow dude I have over 1,000 hours in the game but only knew 6 of these! The research, editing and _especially_ humor put into this just earned you a new sub :)
Their father, Dorephan, has the same music theme to his name (Do, Re). I imagine that if their mother had been included, her name would have been similar to "Sola", thus completing the scale. In my mind, that is her name.
Sola would be So Ra and it's covered already because the Zo in Zora is a conversion of So, literally just the symbol for so with an apostrophe attached. I couldn't tell you if the Zora theme plays So Sa tho.
Yeah, as a musician this was definitely my favourite moment in this cool video!!! I do speak French so the "Si" instead of "'Ti" made total sense to me (We say it the same way the Japanese do). This fact about Mipha's and Sidon's songs will be the one I'll remember forever. Thanks to @The Bread Pirate.
9:35 another fun fact about hot springs is that it count as hot water, so if you manage to bring an ice creature (like an ice lizalfos) inside that water it will kill them istantly, just like a fire weapon would do
fun little fact, for those who didnt know it: electric keese conduct lightning, yet arent harmed when it strikes them! only time ive ever seen this was in the second floor of the final trials in the trial of the sword, but it probably is also true elsewhere edit: also: if you go to the room in vah medoh with the metal ball, stasis it, then tilt the beast so that this room points upwards, then tilt it the opposite way, the stasised ball floats for a bit
The composers acknowledged the solfege thing in an interview (translation by Nintendo Everything). I have a lot of respect for their work. [Hajime] Wakai: I just had a sudden idea. Originally Sidon’s theme was made of a combination of scale Ti and Do (Sidon’s original Japanese name is Shido) and Mipha’s was a combination of Mi and Fa (original Japanese name: Mifa), but then for the song ‘Mipha and Sidon’ [the DLC memory] I created Sidon’s theme using the Mi and Fa scale, because I thought when you look through Sidon’s eyes, Mipha is the real hero. [Yasuaki] Iwata: Originally we were like: Her name is Mipha, so we have to go with Mi and Fa! (Laughs) And because the need then arose to write Sidon’s theme, we thought now we’ve come this far we might as well use Ti and Do. Along with that Mipha and Sidon’s themes became entwined with the battle music for mythical beast Vah Ruta, because in the original game Link rides on Sidon’s back as he fights. But in the DLC it is Mipha who lets Sidon ride on her back, so we transposed some of the Ti and Do scales for Mi and Fa. [Manaka] Kataoka: And then as the song continues some of those modulations are completely overturned.
8:08 this one is probably very well known but you can also do it in shrines!! so if you can’t find any trees or you can’t seem to master the timing for the small trees, warp to the nearest shrine and set up camp for the night there! :)
Interesting note about the Mipha/Sidon themes. They’re named in regards to fixed Do, a system in which Do is always C, regardless of the scale you’re using, as opposed to movable Do, which moves the solfege syllables to different pitches in relation to the key. Mipha’s theme is in A minor, meaning the E/F pattern is So/Le (Le is flat La) in movable Do, but fixed Do says that E/F is still Mi/Fa. Similarly, Sidon’s theme alternates between B/C, but in the key of E minor, which also makes it So/Le (because Mipha and Sidon’s motifs are transpositions of each other), but is Si/Do in fixed do (Countries that use fixed Do more often also tend to use Si instead of Ti, because they don’t use chromatic syllables for sharp and flat notes).
Yeah, my Mariachi grandfather and I often talked about music in fixed Do terms, but my American music teachers didn't. It was pretty cool to see the differences in education and I'm grateful I got both. Albeit, it was only a little, so I'm not too versed in it.😜 Thx for the explanation though, it was fun reading your comment😊
Actually, when you apply solfege to Mipha's theme in the actual key being used (A minor), it is so le, but when you consider it in the relative major key (C major) it is mi fa, so they are using the relative major key for reference with the minor solfege (la ti do re mi fa so la) instead of using the lowered minor equivalent solfege (do re me fa so le te do). So, it is still correct, just a fun music theory fact.
Yeah that's what I was thinking too, but I guess it still makes sense. I can't imagine it was unintentional, especially when you consider King DOREphan as well.
@@b-dtchik5022 That is one of the opinions of music theorists, yes. It is a common debate within the theory community. I have a different opinion personally.
Quick correction: The Daybreaker does _NOT_ have reduced friction, that honor goes to the Radiant Shield, which has the lowest friction in the game, at 0.1. If you’re surfing on the Daybreaker, you’re not going any faster than 98% of the shields in the game.
6:02 You FIEND! You can't just DO that to us! It sounds so REAL. Also, Loved the video, the ending skit in particular was great lol. Oh, and uh, Yay! Fact 11!!!
i havent had this much fun watching a video in so long ahhhh the effort put in shows sm :’)) it was 10/10 humour, the zora fact physically hurt me bc i love them sm but number 11 was insane!!! definitely my favourite 0: gjgj keep it up :D
thanks for the shoutout bro!! i really appreciate it. also, it makes sense how cryonis cant be placed on hot spring because they're, well... *hot* lmao, but it would be cool if you *could* place on it, but it would immediately melt
Can I just say that I found your channel yesterday and I have been OBSSESED with your content!! I'm usually the fan of 50+ minute long videos, but honestly I really love how short your videos are! You get straight to the point and the way you present things make me actually watch the video! (I have the attention span of a goldfish) Definelty a new favorite RU-vidr, can't wait to watch your new uploads from now on! :)
This an amazing video! It must've taken a really long time, because I can see a lot of effort went into it ( and I like the wii sports sound at 1:05 xD ) Glad to see you back from a well-deserved break, and I didn't know a lot of these facts!
That whole bit with Bark saying that Lava isn't wet was great. I was laughing at that for at least 5 minutes. I find it funny that a bokoblin also just casually knows exactly what lava is and what temperature it is
Mipha and Sidon's themes are also in the same key and start a fifth a part. Since Mipha's theme was shown in a C clef, it took me a moment to read it (my native clefs are treble-which is a G clef- and bass -an F clef- since the first instrument I ever learned was piano. Luckily my retired band director father taught me how to read C clefs). I also knew about the ice melting bit.
Hey bread! Here's another wet fact. When you submerge any type of arrows into shallow water, all external visual effects disappear. This even works for light arrows, letting you get a great look at their actual models, which is normally very hard to do!
People I talk to about it say they think that the royal guards outfit thing was an accident, but it makes sense. Using items from a race or group of people can give you their abilities and the royal guards would likely have been very physically fit from an endurance standpoint. They probably had to do much more stamina consuming things than regular soldiers.
been a while since I watched your content, but coming back, you have to be one of my favourite youtubers ever. The style of content you make, has me laughing all the time. Refreshing to come back. Thank you!
As an avid music nerd and solfedge user, I loved the Mipha fact. I’d assumed her name was a reference to solfedge, but I didn’t realize it was in the theme too! So cool. Also, Sidon is the name of a river in a scripture from my religion. So, that’s cool, I guess
The answer about if lava is wet lies in how you define “wet”. If we're using it as an adjective (definition: covered or saturated with water or another liquid), then lava is a liquid state so it therefore it's wet. But nothing touched by lava is left damp or moist, which means that you can't really use wet as a verb to describe lava
So some little tidbits about fact 9! That's actually the way Link swims in most 3D games outside of Wind Waker of course. They're also very real swimming techniques that do serve purpose (although Link does them kinda poorly...) The forward and sideways movement is called a sidestroke, it's used to travel further distances while exhausting your body less, and the backwards way looks to be an elementary backstroke, but his legs are a bit too low for it to be very effective (if I'm wrong on the latter, I'll gladly take the hit and learn something new!). I actually prefer swimming sidestroke myself and Twilight Princess inspired me to learn it when I was younger!
Random Breath of the Wild fishing fact: Aris Beach has an abundance of mighty and armoured porgy, so it is a great spot for fishing. I only ever came there for the quest, so I was really suprised that Nintendo actually put in the deatail that it was an actually really good fishing spot, like Sebasto said.
another fun fact that I just recently discovered. the particle generators for water dropplets when link is out of water is on his elbows, so if you stand in ankle deep water water will come dripping off his elbows
This games size STILL impresses me. I already beat it years ago but somehow only today learned about the Thyphlo Ruins. Don’t ask me how, I obviously didn’t play to complete shrines considering there’s one in there.
Another fun coincidence with Sidon is that in the Book of Mormon, there's a river named the River Sidon. So, it would seem Sidon is eternally linked to water. 🌊
Very new subscriber here, I've only watched two videos thus far but I already think this channel is the best! A bit random I especially love that you properly credit everyone in the video instead of just putting a bunch of links in the description only. As an artist I just love seeing people give visible credit!
That thing about the hot spring water actually isn’t exclusive. You can’t use the cryonis rune anywhere in Gerudo Town except the top of the water tower. I think there’s somewhere else you can’t use it too. Maybe Zora’s Domain? I don’t remember. But I remember for sure that it doesn’t work on the Gerudo Town aqueducts.
Actually the royal gaurd outfit decreasing stamina on all sorts of things low key kinda makes sense. The royal guards were probably trained to be really good at all those things as they are the royal guards and not just some guard. So maybe the outfit was designed with that in mind to the gaurds to help their efficiency with those things. 🤔
