In this video I show how to change the code on the Zhege and FortLocks gym / locker combination padlock / lock. I also show my method on how I decode them, and recover the lost combination.
I'd like to thank the Lockpickingcuber. It was while watching his video #7, that I had one of those "eureka" moments.
The video can be seen here :-

Thanks for discovering this method, and for making such a clear video about how to use it. It works incredibly reliably on my orange Fortlocks padlock.

I’m so pleased to hear that it works for you as well. It was your video that lead to that Eureka moment, so thank you for that.

Awesome way of decoding these locks. I could still only hear one click but that's probably me. Very impressive good sir, keep em coming.

Thanks Roy for watching and commenting. I suspect the clicks might have been muted by the cameras automatic sound level adjustment.

Awesome decoding, and awesome figuring out the technique! You're so good and figuring things out. The only lock I've "picked by ear" is my video 68. Have an awesome rest of the week! 😜😜

Also I have this lock (it was the next thing for me to look at before I saw your video), and sometimes I get a double-click, but not consistent enough to decode it. I'll have a further play with it tomorrow and I'll let you know.

I found I get the best results (clicks) when I ease off the pulling tension. Use just enough tension to give the wheels something to react against. Not getting defined clicks is the reason why I didn’t decode the first padlock in my video. While I decode it regularly, the clicks are not as sharp as they used to be, it’s now more of a thud. I find that putting a light drop of oil between the wheels every so often makes the clicks more defined.

@@sotonlock7894 I tried again with different tension - no joy. I didn't oil the lock. I found another method! It's sort of based on your method but it doesn't use the listening method. I find it more reliable (for me). I'll do a video on it, but I'll direct people to your video too (I'll say this right at the start) as it'll be good exposure for you. 😜😜

Glad I was able to help. Well done on getting it open. Many thanks for the feedback, it’s nice to know that i’ve made a small difference. This is why I make these videos.

Hi, thanks for sharing the video. I have an orange Fortlocks like the one you are using and my son forgot the combination 😅I'm hoping to save it. What is it that you are doing on 11:30? Turn the wheels until you feel a movement on the shackle, so that means that you have the correct alignment of odd/even numbers for the gates? How much pressure are you applying on the shackle? Thanks again!
@sotonlock7894
@sotonlock7894 Год назад
Each wheel has five gates, four false and one true gate. What I’m doing at 11:30 is turning each wheel until i find a gate. You won’t feel the shackle move until all the wheels are in a gate (this can take sometime to line them all up). Once all the wheels are in a gate you should feel the shackle move every second turn of any of the wheels. I found it easier to pull on the shackle by placing another lock through the shackle and pulling on this second lock. Try varying the pressure used until you can feel the shackle move. The older the lock the more difficult it is to hear the double click. Good luck and let me know how you get on. 🤞

Sadly we don’t seem to be able go crack this lock at all. This is the lock to a gate to keep the school chickens safe. The previous person apparently couldn’t get the lock to lock again so very I helpfully managed to switch the level at the bottom and was happy it locked. However of course now the code assigned to the lock no longer works and we were not able to get into feed and sort out the chickens. We have no cut the lock off … well actually cut the chain the lock was on so still trying to see if we can no crack the code, reset back to what it should have been and continue to keep our chickens safe. Now I am going to buy a new lock and new chain! Was really hoping it would work.

I’m sorry that you were unable to get your lock open, these locks can be tricky to decode. The tension that you pull on the shackle can make a big difference, try with lots of tension on the shackle and then try lightening up on the tension. Listen carefully for the double click. Good luck and let me know how you get on. Thanks for watching and your comment.

@LockPickingCuber im stuck with mine... its actually open & its been in my cupboards for a while.. my grandson found it & has twiddled the numbers round now i cant remember the combo to lock it lol.. any methods for an opened lock rather than a closed lock to reset the combo.. also my 'slider' at the bottom seems jammed it doesn't go fully across to the 'set' position, is this because of the numbers wheel not lining up? tia

Hello, it’s actually SotonLock here and not the LockPickingCuber! There is a way to find the code for an open lock and it probably warrants a video of its own, which I can do later. If you want me to explain how to do it, send me an email (address found in my “About” section of my RU-vid channel. Your “set” slider probably won’t go fully across until you know the code. I hope this helps.

Nevermind, I've cracked it using the same method as if it was locked but in a different way. I've Inserted a metal applying pressure from under towards the top but because it has some wear I could not use the click technique but the pressure release on each turn, I would feel a little tension release on the metal. Anyway, your video gave me inspiration and helped me. Great job! TYVM

That's a great technique, I'm glad you managed to find the code. I've used a metal drill bit in the past, but I could hear the double click. Thank you for your great comment and tip.

The pleasure is all mine, I was stuck the last two days but after I saw your video it made a lot of sense and was able to find the code after around 30 min on the other way around. Great content and you explain it very well and clearly. Cheers!

Is any Gym Lock uncrackable? 😢
@sotonlock7894
@sotonlock7894 Год назад
This one of the reasons that I’ve looked at so many combination locks, in the search for a combination that couldn’t be decoded. Video #16 shows a few locks offered by gyms, they were easy to decode! While there are combination locks that are very difficult to decode (mostly military locks) some locks need special tooling to decode, take a look at video #13. Thank you for your intelligent question and for watching.

Just tried it on my FortLocks gym lock, and unfortunately I got it in about 30 seconds. A shame since it seems otherwise really well engineered. I hope nobody at my gym has watched your video!

Andrew, I agree it’s quite a sturdy lock, but it would be better if it had a Boron shackle. If your worried about your lock at the gym, take a look at my video #13. It’s difficult to decode this padlock without a special tool. Thanks for watching and your comment, both help a small channel like mine.

@@sotonlock7894 I think it's more likely someone will just cut off my lock than decode it by ear, but thank you for the recommendation, I'll check out the video and consider it for future purchases. I keep my phone, wallet, and keys on me when I work out, so I'm not too worried. I bought the lock because I'd read that it can't be shimmed or decoded in the traditional manner, but I've just done it a couple more times, it's very reliable. Thanks for the videos!
