ONE OF THE MOST BRAVE COURAGEOUS SETS IVE EVER HEARD A DJ PLAY, VERY ORIGINAL, AND EDUCATIONAL.IF YOU LOVE ALL MUSIC YOU CAN APPRECIATE THIS,BUT YOU GOTTA KNOW MUSIC TO PEEP THE GENIUS IN THIS!!!!!!!
MusicManC great set , djs got no balls to play the music they love , look at cool Dj herc he did and was a big part of the foundation of what hip hop is built on
Awww man kevlarbing, when Dj Scratch dropped it, I was like, ''What the hell is that cut?'' I definetly remembered the jam on the radio back in the day, but was a blank. I surely appreciate your knowledge....Take care/God bless. Thanks again.
Yeah the app SHAZAM can't even capture the song at 6:50!!! WOW I want to know what that is also. That song is so smoove and nothing but EAST COAST style!!! This DJ is number one in my book, along with DJ Jazzy Jeff and DJ Cash Money!!!!
Scratch is a great DJ, but this set went over the heads of that crowd. As a crate digger I love hearing the joints he dropped, but I don't think That crowd knew what they were listening to.
+DJ / MC Lord Supreme The good thing about this set is he sure is giving out that history lesson of why hip-hop has survived the test of time although the trap shit they play on the radio doesn't really count . I heard some of my favorite tracks by artist who used those same samples, but now after listening to what scratch was doing. I now know where the originals came from.
We have to hold on to our history. If we allow this "trap shit" to be the end all be all, the next generation of hip hoppers will think that these "rappers" are the God's of hip hop.
crowd getting bored while i as a dj am gettin' high as fuck on the sound....one things for sure scratch has dem biggest balls of all dem dj's ever spinned at the do over. watching from the capitol of germany i'd love to spin at this club.
Will Garcia hating, lol. Learn all parts of your craft instead just the shit you like homie! Great set. Really great set, DJ dudes are so fuggin sensitive and critical. If you love the music, smile and enjoy it, dayummmm.
Tillery James I don't hate bruh, I've been playing for over 26 years and i know what I'm hearing and seeing. And I know all parts of my craft, I can actually BLEND music exceptionally well along with scratching and beat juggling. I can also play all different genre's and jump from genre to genre. Because I'm not a famous dj means I can't critique this wack set? You think it's a good set, more power to you. This is a crate digger set that should be done in your basement amongst friends, not at a venue where the shit is gonna go over everyones head. He's there to play for the crowd not for himself. When you lose that crowd you failed as a dj, famous or not!
Tillery James And here's some food for thought. Check out the do over sets done by Jazzy Jeff,A Trak,DJ Craze,Rhettmatic and my hometowns own(NYC)DJ Pete Rock and I'm sure you'll see the difference in the track selection and the crowd reaction.
+Will Garcia The good thing about this set is he sure is giving out that history lesson of why hip-hop has survived the test of time although the trap shit they play on the radio doesn't really count . Everybody is a lone looking at the DJ.Just one couple is dancing together and looking at each other, tight.Feeling and touching each other 2 people. What do you feel, when you looking at each other?
To often as a DJ it is damn painful to have to play to the crowd at times. They don't have your ear or musical selection most of the time but it is what being a DJ is all about. I'm going to assume that Scratch was in the "no request" mode which if you have ever done a gig tends to become necessary at times especially when people request stuff that just doesn't make sense to your set. The set was "boring" to a degree but I can fully understand the need to express yourself as a DJ.
Scratch is incredible! But I’d never hire him to do a party ! Too much performing and not party rocking! DJ like scratch are great for rapper on stage but not party atmosphere! They doing it for themselves when you hear a set like this. It’s like hey look at me
Agreed with "civicdoc" as much as I hate to bash a fellow DJ this turned out to be a boring set. DJ Jazzy Jeff played the original track but then dropped the modern song. Remove the name and this need to show blind allegiance based on a name. Scratch is a dope DJ but in this case he played a set a "digger" DJ could respect and appreciate not a set for the non DJ set. Look at Rich Medina he is in heaven. The crowd would have been happy with his "Choice Is Yours" routine and more of a party vibe.
Please look at the crowd and you tell me if they don't look bored as fuck. Look at the difference between this set and Jazzy Jeff's set or A traks set at the do over and you'll see the big difference.
Yes but Jazzy's set was sick. This set couldn't compare with or with out Skillz. Scratch is an ill ass battle DJ. He can do shit that will make an opposing DJ look stupid but I think as a club DJ he's mediocre at best. Watch as he loses this crowd and didn't get them back during this clip. You want to see probably the most complete DJ on the planet? Punch up DJ TLM's videos and see the major difference.
Talk about a boring ass set and a dj not knowing when to change it up. If the people in the front right by the music aren't dancing what do you think the rest of the crowd is doing. This guy doesn't can't even mix. He had a good run as a dmc champ I think inn 88 and being the dj for epmd but this guy hasn't improved in over 20 years. It's s damn shame!
I think they knew what they were hearing but, that set was boring as hell. I expected way more from him. If it was over their heads that means he doesn't know his audience.
