I haven't done a 'making video' for a while so in this video I take Brummie Lock Picker's bent nail tension wrench idea and try to make it work like a 2 in 1 lock pick. Try making one for yourself and give it a go.
One of Brummie's videos:

That 2 in one tool was very well made my friend , it makes it all the more sweeter when it does the job it was made for

Hi Peter, all the inspiration has to go to Brummie for this. I just took his design and tweaked it a little. I am super pleased with the results. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look🙂👍🏻

Well done Roy, you can not beat the old bent nail, my favourite tension tool 👍

I think I have to agree. It's easy to make and it really does work well. I found myself more and more leaning towards it. I am even starting to make kits up for specific locks using both bent nail tension wrench designs. Ove again Brummie, thank you for the inspiration. I never wanted to spend so much on keener lock tools so was just cooking to stick with pin tumblers. Then it happened 🤣 I watched you bending nails and other objects. That made it easily possible to make your own at a very low cost.

This is an adapted version of the bent nail tension wrench, it keeps the pick wire stable from moving around. It might not be a GJ Locks lock pick or an Andy Mac but it works well and looks ok. Cheers Derek 🙂👍🏻

@@roysammons2445 It looks good and does the job and far cheaper than the two in one picks that we would normally cut down the upstand to suit the different keyway of the lock.

These tension wrenches are not perfect for every lock but they don't half help with picking in the vast array of locks they do work in. i thoroughly enjoyed the project and recommend everyone to give it a whirl and see what they think for themselves. thanks for stopping by ; )

What a wonderful video on making a tension tool. I do the exact same except I file the bend completely flat. But I am going to remake all my tensioners with a grove in them, thanks so very much for the idea and the silver soldering tips. 🙏🙏🙏👍🦊
@roysammons2445
@roysammons2445 2 года назад
Go for it Jack. The groove stops all the slack when picking. It works a treat, remember to make sure to extend the flat part a little outside the lock hole. I would love to know how you find picking with it when you have done it. Thanks for watching Jack.

I know what you mean, I look back over peoples videos and suddenly I notice I have missed one or two. This concept of creating a groove for the pick wire helps with pick placement when picking, and it does feel somewhat like a 2 in 1 pick. Cheers for stopping by to take a look : )

@roysammons2445
@roysammons2445 2 года назад
The tension wrench tool can be made with basic tools as Brummie has shown. The tools I use allows ne to speed up the process. Belt/disk sander you can use a file. If you don't have a Dremel or similar tool you can use a hacksaw and thin file. That kitchen blow torch isn't necessary, you can just make the nail a super tight fit. You do need a drill though. I have the advantage of good tools at home and at work. Thanks for watching Mr Deadlocks.

Roy, I enjoyed watching you make that, thank you. Question:- Do you have to use silver solder, I'm an electronic technician so will lead solder (or its equivalent) do the job? I've never used silver solder.
@roysammons2445
@roysammons2445 2 года назад
I think Brummie uses lead solder. Yes lead solder will work although silver solder is a little stronger. Just banging the smaller nail in the hole works ok too. I have used a little thread lock as well to assist before using silver solder. Thanks for watching Paul 🙂👍🏻
@sotonlock7894
@sotonlock7894 2 года назад
@@roysammons2445 I have thought about threading the nail and using a bolt to tension the lock , but not sure that the bolt would be strong enough and not bend.
@roysammons2445
@roysammons2445 2 года назад
@@sotonlock7894 I've considered threading nails at different lengths but it's much easier just to divert one in and make another a different length. I think a bolt would bend ok.
