He was actually a professor of English at University of California at Berkeley before his music career. Rumor was his students encouraged him in his music career. He still records today. I think he's in his mid to late sixties
Hey Twon. You are being exposed to real music and real singing vocals from heartfelt singers from back in the day. Not that synthesized garbage we have today. The classics is and always be the best music.
The old soul classics are some of the best Twon. I’m telling you you are an old soul. I see you respect and love it. Keep doing these. They are timeless and beautiful. Thanks for doing this. ❤️💥🔥
Been here since the 50's. I thought I was something when I commented to my Mom, yup 91, about Shallow being sung by Pentatonix as a cover to Lady Gaga. She remade the as I said the original by Barbara Streisand. No she corrected me the original movie came out I think in the 50's with it being sung by (senior moment can't remember the name) oh well another great artist of that era. But you are correct. Live long enough and you get to experience some wonderful things (and a pack of negative crap too). Just enjoy the ride.
This is such a good song. Wait until you really start getting into the good soul music from the late 60's and early 70's. You won't stop to eat or sleep!
Back in the 1980’s when I drove home from work this song came on the radio every night in the midnight hour. It helped me unwind from the long night on the the assembly line. Thank you for reintroducing me to one of my old favorites.
Young blood! You don't know nothing about this. This grown folks music lol! Ain't i'm the one to talk, I was a preteen when this song came out ha! Ha! In the 80s. I thought he was sexy tho! When I got a little older and I heard this song again, I sure wanted him to shake me down! 😂
@Keisa black ha ha ha YOUNG BLOOD,..this grown folks music. That made ma laugh so hard. But you are right, I was born in 1973, this song was, is , and will be the shit. Just like Joyce Simms come into my life,... same caliber. I am always amazed that the youth of today do not know Prince, whitney, janet , Diana ross ,or any of these artists. I think it is because they do not watch tv, or have MTV that used to play only videos. Wheb I was about 13-14 I knew who the supremes were. And I am white and from the Netherlands. I am shocked about the lack of musical knowledge of people nowadays. But I guess it is because of what I wrote. Anyway,.. greetings from Europe to you. :)
When I hear great songs like this, it makes me thankful that I was a teen in the 80s. Try the Temptations Treat her like a Lady. Man hands down your reactions are Priceless!!
what I wouldn't give to be a 20 year old, again! Thanks for choosing this one. --when we stop paying for quality rock n roll...we stop getting quality rock n roll.
I’m glad this song left u speechless!! Your reaction had me in stitches!!!! One of my all time favourite slow jams🤣😂🤣😂🥰 This was the slow jams the DJ would play at the clubs when the night was coming to an end in my day ..and Gregory Abbott was FIIIIIIIINE!! and so was his voice 😜😍😍
It’s FALSETTO. BUT this is the best reaction ! I love it. 4th listen. Girl I’m gonna rock you down..shake you down, take you all the way to heaven omg 🔥🔥🔥
I wish I could take you back to those songs. The 60s 70s 80s and 90s were the best ever. I grew up to that music Todays music can’t compare to it. I am 76 years young now and music has always been my heart and dancing is my soul. So glad to see you loving it.
That man was smooth - could have (and should have) had a career to rival Luther's - but preferred to follow his own muse and explore a lot of different styles.
I'm so blessed I grew up in the seventies and eighties I got to hear the best music! there is certainly a difference hearing it as it comes out vs looking it up and listening to it for the first time. you definitely learn to appreciate it much more as you get older that's for!
A hundred times ! That was the times I played this song when It first came out in 1986. I worked as a dj in radio station in Dominican Republic and I was enchanted by this song . They used to call him The new Marvin Gaye!! Sadly he released a second single and disappeared !! This song it’s still additive
This was my jam in the 80s. Was popular when I was a senior in high school. I believe the singer was a college professor who sang as a hobby. PS.. The Bee Gees and 80s music were da bomb!
Loved your reaction to this. I had forgotten about this song. Saw that it was blocked last week. So glad you got it on. You brought me back to a great time. I sat here and grooved my butt off! 😄🤗
