Great video man. Iv been following your quality FE content for a while. I have a 22FE350 non S that I have done a ton of work to. It has 4k miles and 180hrs of races, trail rides and the COBDR so far. I have two sets of wheels (for trail and ADV riding) two seats, two headlight masks, (one with a windshield), KTM subframe and plastics, tacomoto lighting kit, oil pump gears, oil filter and fuel pump. The bike is awesome and does do it all! I’d totally be down to make a 350 fan club 🎉 This is only my 2nd motorcycle and it has treated me very well. Nothing but oil and air filter changes. I’m planning on taking her to 10k miles with more BDR’s and trails. I think of the front brake as a feature to keep me from being too aggressive and sliding out the front tire. I run copper front brake pads that are aggressive and it works well. I’m sure it could be better but it’s by all means not anywhere near bad. Light bikes are the right answer. My uncle tipped a 901 over on the side of a mountain and it was a tricky and lengthy team effort or get it unstuck. Riding the AZBDR at the end of the month, let you know how it goes. Ride on!
Great feedback, I'll try those brake pads. Good point, too much front brake in knarly conditions can cause things to go bad! Thanks for following FE content, your bike sounds perfect! You will love your FE 350, great choice, just so nice to ride in a variety of conditions. So many great places to ride here in Oregon, we just have to tolerate a lot of wet and moisture. :) Ride on!
Very nice long-term review :) I find my 2017 steering very stable with no extra dampers - run it to over 80 mph on the highway with Motoz Tractionator GPS tires. I find the throttle annoyingly snatchy/twitchy though...
1:49... That truck! 😍 I am finding that I run too much pavement. Frequently hear that the 350 is less vibey on the road. I got a heck of a deal on a FE500S so I recently installed a Warp9 Cush Drive hub/wheel. I'll see how it goes, one big experiment. lol
what counts is not displacement or the absolute power; it's the weight:power and/or weight:torque ratio. For that 350S, it's about 8 pounds per (dyno i.e. to the wheel) hp and about 13 pounds per (dyno) ft-lbs. That's more than strong! In contrast, a Husqvarna 701 Enduro weighs about 6 pounds per hp and 8 pounds per ft-lb.; not really that much different/stronger! And, try throwing a 701 around like that 350. Note: gears multiply torque; those numerically larger lower gear ratios provide more torque multiplication. Have fun working with and learning from the math ... and Enjoy it !
I’m at 2900 miles on mine. Including the SoCal BDR. No issues yet! I need to get out more. I’m planning on a NorCal BDR in September. We will see how that works out.
Nice work, racking up those miles! Glad to hear that you aren't having any issues. I hear ya, it is so hard to find time to ride amidst other stuff in life. My rides are usually snuck in places or last minute when no one will miss me too much. NorCal BDR would be a blast, hope you can do it!
Hi John, thanks for the video. I have a 2021 FE350s. Do you still have the reeds in your air box & would you mind sharing the setting on your fuel controller. I have read that the computer is locked into a circuit on the low end and the fuel controller only helps in the upper range? I also read that when using the non restrictive end cap (I have the same one you do "BDSB") you have to up-grade the computer to avoid overheating & lean fuel conditions. Just needing some advice from a long term owner. Thanks again for all of your videos.
Would you consider this a good bike for a beginner? Taking into account I live off grid surrounded by dirt roads but want the ability to drive into town or take it into the mountains and cover some asphalt too. Any advice is appreciated.
50-60 miles per tank is crazy low,. I have the same bike and can get 100 before the light comes on. That is mainly fire roads with a little single track mixed in. I live in the same area as you.
I disagree , the brakes on the new Husky's are definitely "bad" . They charge $500 - $700 more for a Husky and put shit brakes on them. If you road a brand new $7000 GPX TSE 300L back to back with a Husky you would see the massive difference. Its frustrating after you spend over $11k
Fair point, I didn't know how weak they felt until riding my 300. I'm not sure why the brakes are weak in comparison, it can't save that much money for KTM to use those brakes.
