@Nicole Ready IF there was, I would pray that it would fail. Many of these beloved shows are not only due so because of the excellent storylines and general theme BUT, because of the excellence of the actors who were perfectly cast. I cannot imagine another actress playing Sophia Petrillo since Estelle's natural performance was superb. Actually, everyone became her character so WHY would there be a need for another show like this?
This show was the absolute Best. I never get tired of watching those four amazing women. I still laugh as if I were watching it for the first time. They had the best writers.
Sometimes when you watch comedy shows from years ago they no longer make you laugh like they did when they was originally on, but with the Golden Girls it's different it's just as funny now as it was back in the 80s and 90s.
I used to tape this every Saturday night and watched it all day on Sunday. And still love them as always good example of women being friends and allies.
I actually met Burt Reynolds at a club in Tucson, AZ called Chances. But I thought it was just a guy who looked like him. We kept saying 'Look at him thinking he's so cool because he looks like Burt'. As I past buy him I murmured 'Goodnight Burt', he replied 'Goodnight sweetheart have a great rest of your evening'. I rolled my eyes. Turned out it was Burt, he was shooting a film in Old Tucson and drowning his sorrows of his recent breakup with Sally Field. 1979-1980ish
Debbie Reynolds "My husband passed just last summer" Dorothy: "Oh..." Rose: "passed what?" Dorothy: "A slow moving winnebago" One of my favourite scenes of Rose being utterly naive and clueless LOL!
I kept thinking, "They're not going to include Cesar Romero...They're not going to include Cesar Romero..." Thank you! I love it when he walks in to applause! Jerry Orbach and Bea Arthur were my absolute favorite performers. It was a delight seeing them together!
I was very sad to see Jerry be a one time guest star in that episode. Granted Glen was a two parter, but I felt he and Bea had wonderful chemistry and a lot of potential.
@@StayGoldenGirls They didn't include Bonnie Bartlett as the snobby author Barbara. She may not have been one of the bigger-name guest stars, but I had seen her as Tim Taylor's mom before I saw her as Barbara.
Great clips! You left out Don Ameche, Inga Swenson, Polly Holiday, Lyle Waggoner, Sheree North, and Joseph Campanella. They are more famous than the little red haired girl or Blanche's niece.
I have always laughed that in the Empty Nest episode Dorothy says Nightmare 4 stands alone, when it is arguably the one in the franchise that depends the most of the audience seeing the previous film lol
It's so sad that Debbie died of a broken heart. I don't remember the medical term for it but it's a very real phenomenon. I can't imagine her pain. I hope she and Carrie are together again.
0:13 goodness Lawd heavens to Betsy holy above the girls' facial expressions. I mean I am straight but even I just had a Blanche Devereaux moment seeing young Burt Reynolds there. 🤣
I remember those episodes with these guest stars. Leslie Nielsen (who true is ripped even in an old age), and Ruby Dee. Which what her character said was very right. Not only was it taboo in the South, but it was also dangerous. I even heard from an elderly woman who said the same thing when she was going out with a white boy in high school and even secretly eloping out of their safety. Even telling me that her husband carried a gun with him whenever they were together and right next to their bed to protect themselves! Also the other guests. Burt Reynolds or I prefer the “Burt Fucking Reynolds!!!” (I’m fanboy).
Golden Girls has so many good guest stars! Oops forgot good old Mickey. I can definitely see him being a mobster. And I wanted to share that story of the elderly woman because that scene with Ruby Dee reminded me of that back in high school. Hearing about it yourself really is a good illustration of the truth about interracial relationships and marriages back in those days and the risks/dangers they faced. Thankfully for her and her husband they got through it, although they were prepared for the trouble that would come. She was African American if I forgot to mention that in the original comment.
Dick Van Dyke was so great as the lawyer clown. Bob Hope the best entertainer there ever will be, we all wanted him to be our father. Burt Reynolds was so cool and funny in his day, what a hoot when he came to pick up Sophia and asked who was the slut. Hulio Iglasias, sorry about the spelling, loved where he showed up as Sophia's Valentine's day date. Some of the younger actors George Clooney and Mario Lopez were so good looking at there young ages. I had never seen Jeanne Dixon until she was on Golden Girls. Had always heard about her predictions. Debbie Reynolds one of the best movie actresses was such a treat to see. I didn't even know that was Ruby Dee. Mickey Rooney was a hoot the bank robber. Cesar Romero was still sexy at his old age. So many Alex Treback, Leslie Nielson who marries Dorothy at the end, Sonny Bono in the dream with Lyle Waggoner. Lindsey Lohan playing the little girl who took the teddy bear. Such a great video thank you very much.
I LOVE when dorothy had to cover her moms mouth to avoid a sassy sophia hahahaha GREAT VIDEO and when rose rips that bear outta that little brats hands hahahha ah.....love this video
i am like that. always have been although i mellowed a bit. my father used to say' ifyou cant say anything nice dont say anything at all. even now , i say things infront of my grandnephews and my sister will caution me I dont say vulgar things just what is my opinion. My sister said i have to be careful when i am infront of little children. ha ha
Seeing BURT brings back memories of just what a GOODLOOKING MAN he was & how CHARMING he was!! And DEBBIE was FANTASTIC in Everything she ever did!! ALL of these GUESTS were PERFECT.
Check out "Return of the Killer Tomatoes" (1988) if you can find it. That was always one of my favorite movies with him (up until "O Brother, Where Art Thou?") =)
In another episode, a very attractive young aerobics instructor asks Blanche out, and then she's very upset to find out that he sees her as a stand-in for his mother. In this one, the young Clooney character reminds her of her son - she doesn't seem tempted to make a romantic-type move on him.
One thing I remember from the Julio Inglesias scene, if you listen carefully you can hear people behind the camera taking pictures of him and Estelle. Another little fun fact, Jerry Orbach was good friends with Richard Mulligan who later starred in Empty Nest. Great video!
Omg. So many have passed away now. Betty is the only one left..but so many others like Leslie & Burt & Sonny & Jerry & Mickey & Ceaser & Alice & Jeanne. Wow. I'm old.
@@StayGoldenGirls Blanche was "into" him - even though she really wasn't into Jeopardy as a show. And you know what - I think Alex looks better today than he did then.
Wow, I forgot about the long list of Celebrities who appeared on this show. Debbie Reynolds, Bob Hope, George Clooney, Burt Reynolds, Rita Moreno, Mario Lopez, Ruby Dee, Julio Iglesias, Mickey Rooney and more....
Golden Girls is one of those feel good shows that can have lasting effects on several generations. It ended almost 30 years ago and still they have a large fanbase. And betty white at 99 has seen almost 30 years after this show godbless her
