I don't think I read that or heard that in the Bible, and I I just finished listening to the four Gospels, the book of Act and Romans. I interpret it in saying that I should love God with all my mind, heart, strength and soul. Secondly to love you all my neighbors no matter what. Finally accept that Jesus Christ who is the Son of the Creator God and that he died and was resurrected for the forgiveness of my evil or my sin. I can't be good enough and sadly I will mess up every time. I don't know about everyone else but, I try to be good yet some how I manage to screw up. I either try and lie or something dumb. That's why I need Jesus because he's my advocate between me and God. I find when I follow that I have a conscience. I don't know why poachers feel that they have to shoot defenseless animals? Maybe its the artificial environment that humans have created that breed poachers. Take the lowly poacher who can earn ten years of wage with the killing of one animal or bust his hump farming? Let's face it people are lazy in that respect they'll take the easy road. They'll have their reward as we all will be judged.
When you look at the pictures of the "Yangtze Turtle", you can see exactly why it's extinct and especially, why this last one in captivity in Vietnam died- the turtle was not cared for properly at all, it looks like they had it in a small cage by the noticeable wounds on the shell- there was a hole on the back and the edges were mostly damaged, wounded and scraped up. Also, all four of its flippers and areas around its head & neck were white with wounds, some open and raw, that are also indicative of being kept in a small cage. And also, the water it was shown in is thick green with algae and pollution, also enough to kill the turtle....

If you actually READ what I wrote, I said, "... it LOOKS like they HAD it in a small cage...", as in they HAD kept it in a small cage before the picture was taken, as that would account for the wounds all over its body, especially on its flippers, shell edges and face... i agree that no living animal should be held captive like a prisoner. not many people stand up for the precious species that can't talk and tell us they're unhappy.

its so sad to see that these beautiful creatures are facing extinction because of human greed and activity, we are the only major treat to all living species on this planet, yet we continue to kill and kill until there is no more :(
another i'd add would be the red wolf, a species of wolf native only to north america and now found in the wild only in north carolina. currently there's around 250 in existence, though around 200 of those are in captivity, with wild numbers usually hovering between 50 and 100 (most recently in the lower end of that range). they are making a bit of a recovery, back from 14 individuals when their recovery program started, but they're still very small in numbers, and are in danger of going extinct in the wild for a second time due to fear from humans living in north carolina.

I live in The Pine Barrens of New Jersey and we have a species of tree frog that are endangered, and only exist in this area. the pine barrens tree frog. I'm 26 years old, an avid outdoorsman, live in the area where they're the " most common " and still have never seen one and I don't know someone who has. I think there are pockets in certain areas where you're more likely to find them, but even if you go look there for hours each day you might not find one. they resemble the rainforest cafe frog and maybe one day they will come back in numbers.... My gut feeling is that they'll be extinct soon sadly...

the pictures you had up from the ploughshare tortoise was not the real thing. what you had up was the radiated tortoise, the cousin of the ploughshare tortiose. but they themselves are endangered.

It's one of my favorite too. Just cook it in coconut milk, ginger, garlic, onion, spring onion and you're good. Cooking them in butter/oil/margarine and salt is good too. Delish.
I know that was sad, I always get sad when I go to the market and see the crabs in the tank.... pincers bound, stacked on each other awaiting death. Imagine a tank full of humans bound and stacked on top of each other.... the things we do to animals.

The photo of the Ploughshare tortoise was not of a Ploughshare. It gets it's name from a protrusion of it's lower shell below it's head that looks like a plow. It may be rare however videos and photos of the animal are not. Never understood why information on turtles and tortoise are wrong most of the time, like the researchers just bring up random photos and information about specific animals and say close enough.
the maltese ox is also very rare with only about 50 living. none are pure however since the last pure one died but not before it was bred with a very similar ox in Spain. the animals alive are around 97 percent pure
You are absolutely right number one should have been decent human beings there aren't too many left. but there are enough of us who love animals we just got to keep speaking out eventually people will have to listen we just got to keep doing it social media is the best way I guess. The weird thing is there's so many intelligent people out there but they can't figure out that without nature without animals we can't be here we're not going to be here...

As soon as an animal is flagged up as rare its value goes through the roof. Unfortunately the Chinese, who demand these animals for 'medicinal' purposes i.e. as opposed to Viagra, are not in danger of hitting this list.
