hi there i bought my george a few years ago its an 04 model the blue bucket one. its never let me down until last week i got it out of the container and it made hell of a sound but worked then when i shut it off to refill and pressed the button it didn't work ( the pump works fine). i do have another george i bought for the hose which doesn't come on at all thats an 08 gve 2 model. (the owner said its the cable). should i just swap them out or is there a way i can trouble shoot the motor. thanks!
Had a similar issue on my Karcher Puzzi (Same / similar Gotec pump) but it also fried the coil. The single diode doesn't do a full rectification of the AC so you get half wave (pulsed) DC going to the pump. A pulse of DC pulls the piston back to force the water out and draw another charge in behind it then when the pulse stops, the spring resets the piston to go again. This also runs the coil at 50% duty cycle so when the diode dies you sometimes end up with full AC going to the pump which runs the coil at 100% duty cycle and eventually burns it out. That's what happened to mine. Seems George's diode failed in a manner that didn't give the pump any power after an initial spike, saving the pump. To my untrained eye, the single diode seems like a designed failure point and it's a lot of voltage as current to be handle by a single, small, non-heatsinked diode. I reckon two in parallel would drastically increase the life of the diodes. Also the pitting on the piston could explain why it wouldn't self prime - it wouldn't have had a good enough seal on the cylinder bore to pump a vacuum to draw the water.
Oh you are clever! It's not something I've come across much before as I try and stay away from wet vacs because their finicky! But as you say, you get the 1 and only slam of the piston on its half wave before nothing and that's a good troubleshooting tip now. And since they all use roughly the same motor they'll all have the diode somewhere. Put them in parralel to increase lifespan too? The manufacturers don't want that 😂
Hi I bought one about 5 years ago and took it apart to clean under the lid. Now I’ve put it back together there’s not much suction? The suction gets better when I loosen the screws around the lid! Please help!!
i got a brand new one from argos used it for the firsrt time and it cutted out and was very hot to touch, i've noticee there is a peice of foam on the air intake is that blocking the hoover?
I know, tbh that was the main reason I did a video on it! Was horrified when the guy said if it would be an expensive fix he'd bin it so I didn't charge much and looked him in the eye when he collected it and said treat it with care, they don't make them like this any more! Imagine finding it at the car boot for £20 with its box 👌
I got one from the factory with that issue I believe, so I sent it back. What’s that part number? My current one just died an I think this may be the issue. When you flipped it on, was the pump barely audible? That’s what mine is doing now.
I could hear it fire the Piston once if you listened carefully as you hit the switch, then nothing. Was this listing but it's ended now 😢 Must just be an diode of a certain spec though... Dunno what that spec is though... www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283960578682?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=sI5Lr_IHQTC&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=QOvj0cTJQtq&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=Copy Good luck sir 🤞
