What a fun project and you have quite a bit of 53 54 Topps Bowan cards. The 53 Bowman color Warren Spahn is one of my all time favorite cards and yours is a great example. Enjoyed and thanks for sharing with us.
Eddie Lopat, the key to a Topps-Man set! 🤩👍 Your '53 Bowman Minoso is so glorious! Love the '54 Topps Doby! Perhaps I will pick up another Doby at the National; we shall see! I think the '53 Bowman Mathews is totally under-rated! Super cool Topps-Man Franken-set! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Nice presentation, Joe. Creative idea for your collection. Some beautiful cards! Luke Easter! Junior Gilliam! The Minoso and Mathews cards are excellent. Bobby Avila was the AL Batting Champ in 1954. All the best on meeting your collecting goals.
'54 Scooter as card #1 is awesome! I absolutely love this idea, as well as the 55-56 you're doing. The '53 Minoso is one of my all time faves, and you have a nicely centered copy! That ain't easy! Beautiful copy of the '53 Spahn as well! Beauty of a '54 Doby there too! Killer stuff, Joe!
I liked the first version of this set I put out, but I think I like this mix of sets even more! The photography from ‘53 BC, the art/photo mix from ‘54B and the color from ‘54T just blend so well. Thank you Josh!
Soooo many great looking cards and players here cards Joe, love the 53'bowman color of Minnie M. It's definitely one of my favorite cards in my collection.
Great idea to make your own unique Frankenset, Joe. Definitely a fun way to collect and I think a 60’s/70’s one would be awesome too. Great looking Spahn, btw
Loved seeing the second one of these taking form, Joe! I think the 1960s version is going to be really, really fun. Cool to think you could have up to 10 choices for any card number in that one. Really looking forward to seeing these take shape, pal! 👊😃
Hi Joe, that is a very cool idea for a set. You’re right it’s a fun way to avoid having to pay up for the high priced rookies and tough high numbers. Some of the 60s high numbers are not too pricey. 61, 62, 66 and 67 will cost you. I built 69 and while there was a difference in price between the last series and the previous it wasn’t bad compared to 66 and 67. Thanks for sharing.
Yes I definitely agree that some are way worse than others. Collectively all the bigger rookie cards really add up. I like the idea of a set that could be ever changing. Thanks for watching Terry!
Hey Joe! I’m still really digging what you’re doing here. I don’t think I realized you have so many ‘54’s. You have a nice collection of those. What cards do you need to finish those sets? I commend you for walking away from set collecting. I’d like to but seem to keep adding more sets to my list to finish. Great stuff, Joe!
It helped to pick up a decent amount that were in terrible shape and cheap. Haha I wish I would have pivoted from my approach of picking up cards from a 30 year spreadsheet of sets earlier. But live and learn. lol I think I’m down to 10 total between the two sets. Mostly HOF cards, but nothing crazy. It’ll be easy to finish both out at the National. Thanks as always Andy!
Your Frankenset just keeps getting cooler, Joe. The one thing that struck me in this video though was at the beginning seeing the 54 Lopat. He looks so much like the creepy old guy English soldier in Braveheart that tried to rape William Wallace's wife. I suppose I just gave you more ammo against Adam. LOL
