Gary, Let me just speak for everyone when I say that you may consider yourself a newbie, but your work is AMAZING!!! You inspire me in many ways, from pattern challenges to color palate's. Hope you're feeling well very soon. 🤗
Hi Jax - you are most likely on your holiday - YAY! I’m feeling great now and your wonderful hug helped. That’s right - the colours were inspired by Andrea’s photo from Setta’s Calendar CAL!
Hi, Gary SENDING YOU a quick note that I HOPE YOU ARE ALREADY FEELING BETTER, and you had a very HAPPY belated VALENTINES DAY with your Hubby and puppy too...🫶🏻♥️🫶🏻♥️🫶🏻♥️🫶🏻
Hi Gary the three patterns each would be beautiful. Newbie or not you have a talent/gift for working with yarns. So don't sell your self short. Thanks for the nice break in my day. Kathy
I'm a little excited and anxious to start one of the patterns - I just am looking to see if one might be better to start with to ease myself into the learning curve.
Hi Silver Shadow - These were things that I love to comfort me when I'm not feeling great. I'm happy to report that I'm in the clear now and feeling better!
I love the shawl behind you, Gary. It is beautiful. Praying you feel better soon. I just finished a simple throw and trying to finish up another for our prayer shawl ministry. We make shawls, lap blankets, and throws for those who need to know that they loved. It includes those who are hospitalized, have surgery, lost a loved one, or anyone with a need.
Hello Beverly - thank you kindly for the well wishes (your prayers have helped) I’m feeling much better. I love learning what you’re crafting and how generous you are in your community.
When the video opened I said, out loud, "what is Hank wearing?" Thanks for letting us know it was from one of Crystal's patterns. I'm going to check that out right away. I love your modifications. Your new Stenli yarn is just beautiful, Gary. Thanks for showing us.
Hello Floief - I thought I heard you ask your question from here... LOL! Crystal has so many fantastic patterns! Choosing one is always a struggle, because they're all so enticing!
It looks so beautiful on you; Hug 🥰 hello, Gary!!! I loove Stenli cakes, they bring me so much joy. Those blues with the silver and gray are very pretty. You got so lovely ones. Get well soon! ⚓️💙
Hellooo Gary. Today im watching you from my hospital bed as I'm recovering from my knee replacement surgery So thank you for cheering me up with those beautiful yarns ,and best part is that I can get them easily from Bulgaria being in Europe as getting yarn from out of EU can get pretty expensive most times.
Helloooo Anna - please recover quickly and get back doing those things you like best! If you ever like to experiment with different yarns out on the European market - Stenli cakes are so dreamy!
Gary, I find many videos on U-tube and pinterest using Alize Diva for women's garments. The yarn gives a beautiful drape and softness. This is just my opinion, after my research. It is cool, due to the microfiber, so great for summer garments. Hope that helps to give you some direction on what to make with it. Happy crocheting!, and thank you for your videos. I find them very educational.
It is 4 a.m. Friday 16th. February here on Kemptville Ontario, and I am watching and listening to your latest video, enjoying my morning coffee! I 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😍😍am going over to the US to pick up my Herrschnerrs order! Yay!👏👏👏👏👏 today, your Pleta order looks very interesting and I will check it out , but we are moving into our forever home so it will be probably next month.. take good care of yourself extra vitamin D is great for keeping colds and flu at bay , I take extra if I feel a cold coming..they work great. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Oh Carol what a gorgeous treat you must of had the best morning getting ready to pick up a Herrschners box of yarn! It's now a few days on since then, so I hope you are happy with all your goodies you got. Anything that stood out from the purchase you are eager to try working with?
Such lovely yarn - gorgeous colours. Hank is looking great in Crystals scarf pattern ☺️ both scarves are soooo nice .. thanks for another great video 😊
Gary!!! Loved a look into the different colors and yarns you use. Sterling looks good. Loved your cape in background. Gorgeous. Hope you and your get better and soon. Thank you and Stay Blessed.🥰🙏🏼
Hi Grace - That type of variegated starkness in the yarn was interesting to find a pattern that would show it off. I think Crystal's pattern helps with the short bursts of colour. Thank you for your compliment!
Hi Gary. Love the makes on yourself and Hank. I also have Crystals creations in my hook every other WIP. I love the Stable muffins. Hopefully one day I'll be able to get one or two. Whatever you create will look amazing as always.
Hello Danette - Crystal is such an inspiration and I have a few of her patterns in a list I want to get to this year. The Jasmin stitch being one of her recent tutorials is giving me some urgency to learn!
Hello there Sandra - I am feeling much better and thank you for sharing your project makes. I can just imagine all the runners having warm and vibrantly coloured hats! Good going!
Double dipping comments, forgot to say i spun some of these together, it made for a grand spun fiber. You might give it a go. An electric wheel nano, or bigger model, is a compact fun tool for this spinning fun. Just a think for you! I made a yarn nobody's got but me. Have fun! Pleta yarn, has great fibers to create fun with. ( i had to fix Pleta 2x spell check is upset with me. Back to knitting)
Hope you feel better soon! My cousin who lives on the island told me the virus tormenting us here in Tennessee is also running wild up there. It doesn't have a name except for '100 day cough.' I have used tigers milk recipe with added fenugreek to help combat the yucky part. Please feel better soon. Love your channel!
Hi Kate, I'm lucky that my head cold cleared up after a few days! I did hear the same thing around Vancouver Island - two people at work in different departments had stories of family and friends getting Covid. They're in the clear now.
Thank you for sharing your Stenli/Pleta yarns. I am yet to try their yarns, but love to see what others buy from them. I definitely need to use up yarn and complete projects before I bring anything else in. 😉 I hope that you feel 100% soon even though I do enjoy Gary when he is a tad loopy. 😉😘❤
Hi Quilty - I do much of the same when I window shop and watch what others get, but occasionally I cave and give in to a yarn I see. Take the Stenli Tweed for example... LOL!
Oh I’m getting over a cold myself and I also feel loopy today 😂 I do not think of you as a newbie my friend - your work is amazing. Really lovely yarn colors you got in this order- looking forward to what you make from them 😊
Sorry to hear you have a cold again. Get well soon! ❤ Love both scarves/“hug!”! Overall, I find my yarn and makes so comforting. The Stenli tweed muffin is really special-love the blend! I made fingerless lace gloves with yarn like the Alize. (Sock wgt.) The pattern was a Red Heart pattern. They were very poplular!
Hiiiiieeeeeeee Gary. I don't comment much, but I love to support you. I love all your videos. I caved and bought 2 muffin cakes #16 so That I can make a sweater. I might knit, but I have been loving making Machiatto crochet sweaters
Hiiiieee there friend. It's always a treat reading your messages. Yay for muffin cakes! I'm going to take a look at number 16 - hang on... Was it the Muffin Tweed 16 - I think that's the same one I got. It's beautiful!
Gary, hello! I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well. I do hope you're soon on the mend. No giggling this time! "Tickle, tickle!" Did that work! You had some gorgeous yarns there. I can only imagine what beautiful things you are capable of making. Hank is looking lovely in his shawl this evening. I believe that one is my current favorite. Has Hank met M. A. T. T. ? That's Juan's hat model. Lol. Cute! If we get enough parts, we might eventually make a whole guy! Oh, wait! That's been done, hasn't it? I'm going, so you can get to bed and get some rest. Sweet dreams. 💕💕💕
Hi Gary, challenging yourself can be hard, I know because I entered a giveaway and won the knit pattern. I'm definitely out of my comfort zone because I don't read patterns or graphs and I'm a fairly new knitter hats/beanies and working on my first garter stitch shawl. I have to say I'm learning a lot, thank goodness I found a tutorial from the designer on something very similar. Love the yarns you chose, very bright and colorful. Take care, I hope you have a wonderful family day weekend.
Hi DragonKat - I am so happy you found a way around the learning curve. You've been so resourceful in your investigations and adapted where to find snippets of techniques to get through that pattern. I tip my hat to you for your cleverness. Keep on with those challenges and you'll find so many gems come out of the learn.
The bright Alize yarn would create cool socks but if you're not into that I'd use it to create a thread wt Easter basket. After crocheting it you starch stiff with a glue+ water mixture...
I like to center pull and a trick to help keep the skein or cake from collapsing is to slip an empty toilet tissue tube into the center as the hole gets bigger
Hi Gary i have used alize there are different kinds, i make doilies with them they come out prettty some are 2 weight and 3 weight, i use kristines crochet she has alot of nice ones
Hi Cheryl - Those doilies sounds so wonderful. I do have other Alize collections on my shelves and really like them. This one was new to me and will take a bit of thinking on what to use it for.
Hi Gary. Really love the yarns. I have never used the Alize (?sp) yarn, however, if I had alot of it I would use 1 colourway in a mosaic crochet project with a black main colour where the second colour is not dominant. I find mosaic crochet can calm down colours that are popping too much.
Hi Valerie - thanks for the tip on how to settle a vibrant and loud colour way. I may just need to do that with the Alize yarn, you've given me ideas and really appreciate the inspiration.
I used to use that yarn for doilies, the Alize. But as for the muffin tweed, I thought I would enjoy this yarn. I bought two cakes, not soft at all considering the fiber content. It's very rough , no drape at all.
I’m still trying to find the willow rise yarn, from your previous video. 😅 in the greens . You’re a natural , if you think you’re a beginner knitter 😊 🧶💫 all your knitting projects are phenomenal Gary 🎉
Thank you kindly for that compliment! I found out from the commenters of my favourite yarns - that the Willow Rise was sole out and they’re not being continued. It’s so sad when a favourite gets discontinued.
@@urbanyarn yes it is. These yarn companies make absolutely no sense whatsoever, I don’t understand how they just get rid of great selling yarns which are favorites but keep other less favorable ones in their warehouses.
Oh man, microfiber hasn't been a joy to me. I bought a skein of a similar yarn to try it out, and I ended up using microfiber to make some dusting cloths for cleaning the house, and I took the opportunity to try some new stitch patterns. I'm sure you can come up with some better use! 💕
Hi there Mary! Oh no - microfiber for dust-bunny cloths doesn't sound fun! Maybe I can make them into mittens and if they don't turn out well they'll be dusting gloves.
Hello Gary, I love your videos and all the wonderful information you have to offer. Wondering what yarn you used to make the beautiful shawl on Hank? Hope you feel better soon.
Hello and I'm happy to report I'm feeling much better! The yarn I used on the "I Want it All" shawl (the one on Hank) was Keith's Powerball yarn called "Witches Shoes" and I alternated it with a Yarn Bee Soft and Sleek.
Hello there - certainly. The yarns I used in the shawl Hank is wearing are Yarn Snob Power Ball (worsted - Colour Witches Shoes) and Yarn Bee's Soft and Sleek DK (Colour Linen).
Beautiful yarns. I have used the Alize yarn in a tunisian crochet scarf, different color of course, and it was easy to work with. What yarn did you use for the scarf you are wearing? I am amazed at how you put your colors together.
Hello Donna. Good to know about the Alize yarn and that used it in a Tunisian project. I still am looking at it to figure out what to make. It'll come to me. Oh, the shawl I'm wearing was from Jax (Creations by Jax). She did put the labels in with the gift, but I've forgotten what the yarn is. You can find it in the video I presented the shawl (it's in my thumbnail).
The yarn was from Crystal and it came from Yarn Snob (powerball) in the colour "Witches Shoes" and I alternated a Yarn Bee Soft and Sleek DK in the colour "Linen".
Hi Chocoboop - The yarn used was a gifted yarn from Crystal from the dyer Keith (Yarn Snob). It was the Powerball in the worsted weight - colour way "Witches Shoes" and I alternated it with Yarn Bee's Soft and Sleek.
Hello there! Thanks for the question on the yarn. There were two - Yarn Snob Keith's Powerball in the colour "Witches Shoes" and I alternated rows with Yarn Bee Soft and sleek DL in the colour Linen!
Hey there Gary… feel better soon buddy ❤️🩹 I’ve never had a Stenli cake before. Do you know if there are other websites that sell these like the Tweed ones for better shipping to USA? I’d love to get me my first Stenli Tweed cake sometime soon 😛
