To be honest Robert I miss the days of you in the workshop building things with tools. Not Lazer cutter's and 3d printers. Cos most people still don't have the above devices that would make their prototypes or projects easy to build. That's my comment. Thanks anyway Robert

Looking forward to a video on performance and a project for which you use it Robert. Thanks for the video. My end case use for a laser cutter is probably more suited to a diode laser cutter such as making capacitors and electronic components burned directly onto a surface, but I have no experience with CO2 lasers so who knows it might work as I would need it to work. I guess I will have to live vicariously through you Robert while you experiment with the Xtool. Thanks again!

Excellent discussion, as always. I agree these tools will open "doors" for the innovation of numerous concepts. The only issue is price. Not really a hobby tool. I definitely want one, but I would need to develop something that could be sold to help pay for the device.

I had similar thoughts when I purchased a CNC router, all bar the cutting medium is the same technology- in fact I could buy a laser head for my CNC router if I wished, but I fully agree these machines are the home workshop of the future. and that is a workshop that can be fit into a much smaller footprint (as long as you dont have too many of each machine.)
@ThinkingandTinkering

Hey Robert! Great to see laser cutting coming more to home-based DIY folks, and excited for you to share your journey with the community! This company seems to have addressed the safety issues quite well. Maybe someday soon DIY metal 3D printing will also benefit similarly? For example, if safety is addressed like this, then use/sales increases, then costs come down for items like the lasers and fine metal powders for sintering. Exciting times! I'm sure this is already on your long-term wish/ToDo list! Cheers mate!

Looks like a great tool/machine. I always fancied getting a milling or laser cnc machine but people had said you need to get into the big ones for them to be any good and after watching quite a few videos could see that they were right. This one looks like a reasonable size and price. Will be interesting to see how it works out. I'm sure it will help a lot with prototyping and projects 😊 👍

When people give you devices and pay you to showcase them, you kinda need to continue that path, which is why there are so many influencers doing the same. It's just like celebrities that are given products to endorse them, companies rely on the followers who pay for the "free" products they give out for advertisement. I can't afford them so I just move on. I'm all for product placement, but I tend to trust/follow unpaid opinion more.

@@ThinkingandTinkering I have seen every video. I asked Dr Tour about the process of using the sugar and baking soda, and he told me that he has not heard of anyone doing it. I am in the process of purchasing a Raman machine as it has become too expensive to send the samples to Malaysia. But it is still some time away from its arrival. I have a automated flash graphene machine here. We are using anthracite coal doped with carbon black as the feed stock. However production is very slow. around 50 grams per hour, assuming the feed hopper does not get jammed.

i've always been intrigued by but never could figure out how those oscillating multitools work. could you do a video on them? ive only found some really small snippets of information and some drawings of the mechanism online, searching on yt yields almost nothing. the blade moving back and forth really fast is about as in-depth as most people get in describing its function, but what i want to know is how it does that and in such a compact space. if i could afford to just buy one and take it apart it'd be easy but alas.
@ThinkingandTinkering
@ThinkingandTinkering 12 дней назад
i am not sure which tool you mean mate do you have a name for it?
@2kadrenojunkie
@2kadrenojunkie 12 дней назад
@@ThinkingandTinkering its literally called a oscillating multitool. i kid you not. it essentially vibrated a flat blade, saw, or other flat attachment perpendicular to the handle. coolest consumer tool ive seen, most people just use them to cut say door hinge slots but there are so many things you can do with one.
@2kadrenojunkie
@2kadrenojunkie 12 дней назад
@@ThinkingandTinkering if that wasn't enough for you to go off, the origin of most designs afaik is from fein. specifically a variant of the fein multimaster. despite knowing that much, and knowing that had a patent, i'm still having trouble finding detailed information about it. you seem like you would be much better at finding stuff like that than i would be.

Robert, since you're more familiar with kilns and metalcasting, I was wondering whether you could make a video on how we could create models in plastic using a 3D printer, and then potentially putting them into a mold to have the plastic be replaced by the metal being poured, as a cheaper alternative to a metal 3D printer?
