And because they're all done on the same dyno, on the same day, they are all comparable, no settings tweaked to make the numbers look better etc. A very impressive gain for not a huge amount of work.
Very good series, love the transparency in mod by mod dyno/timing differences. This really makes me want to go through my 2.5 AKE and fit out some parts I've acquired - I must go back and check on the clutch you use on this.
What you think about head porting, polishing? It's diesel, so straight injection, and best airflow is with polished surfaces, also that big Y-shaped intake tube porting? Also a bit beter flowing exhaust manifold. It all increases efficiency, in other terms, same power with less boost. Also what you think about maxxing out an engine on stock turbo? (no nitro ofcourse)
Porting will help this engine a lot. Inlet and exhaust manifolds are getting worked on soon but they are OK to 500hp we think. Stock turbo stops around 300hp as per this video
@@ryanp6138 It's all about the time, the effort, the gains. The pride "Highest stock turbo powered 3.0 tdi" it'd be cool. Ofcourse you have fastest fwd tdi car, so such a project won't bother you. Have a good day. Thank you for answers :)
I have a touareg 3.0 TDI from 2005 with the engine code BKS. I would love to have around 330/340 bhp with it. Right now it’s remapped to around 285 bhp en with some small mods like a straight pip from the down pipe en a different air intake. I think it’s around 295/300 right now, what would recommend? Because there aren’t any front mount intercoolers or decat downpipes for it.
Been following you lads for a while on this one. I have an 07 A6 TDi 3.0 Avant, which I bought when it was only 2 years old (meaning I've had it nearly 10 years now!!). I have over 200k miles on it now though, so I'm curious/paranoid as to what effect these extra mods would have on my engine (and gearbox for that matter). It's been totally faultless - I do all my own work (and even have VAG-COM for the diagnositics), and still pulls like new. I actually got it remapped the day after I bought it, and though I can't tell exactly what increase it gave, I have had it up to 152mph on the GPS (160mph on the clock) with still more to go, so I can only guess I did gain something! Thing is, the car isn't worth anything now with that much mileage, but I still love it, and have no intention on selling it as I have other toys to keep me amused (and I can't really justify coughing up a load of moolah on a newer BiTdi just to get the extra power and a more up to date infotainment system!!). BUT, spending a few quid on it with you lads to get this much power out of it? I already love the fact that it is an anonymous looking diesel estate car, that will do over 150mph on the GPS with ease....... imagine what it would be like with even more power?? ;) So anyway, expect an email from me in regards to costs, etc., but just one quick question: would you risk it on a motor with over 200k miles on it? And if so, how do you think the extra mods would affect an engine (and gearbox!) with that much mileage? Fair play anyway lads - loving this one! 😉
Hi, we have tuned cars with the same mileage and more. As long as the car has been well looked after you should not have any problems. Some wear items may need changing a little sooner but this would be expect at the mileage anyway. Drop us an email with the reg/vin a long with a power goal and we will price up some options for you. Thanks
it will never make sense to sell it, you can't ask for much more in a daily cruiser. maybe a bmw touring gives you bit better dynamics and bit more analogue driver involvement, but modern audi's handle like they're on rails up to 8/10ths anyway, and are faster in poor driving conditions ie the uk, they just have everything.
I love these guys and love the work this shop does, but sometimes its hard for me to hear/understand them (I'm from the states). So I put the subtitles on and that s**t is wayyyy the f*** off lol. I just thought that was funny. Excellent f****n work fellas. You pump out fantastic cars, keep it up
@@DarksideDevelopments Hahah I would love it. I'm grabbing an e90 335d very soon. And when I do, there is no better people for me to do bussiness with then you guys... Talk to you soon and again, keep up the good work
Hello, this might be a stupid question, but would it be safe to put an upgrade remap on a a5 3.0tdi with 150,000 miles on it, if the rest of the mechanics were okay
Outstanding video (some mics issues) on showing the steps and progress... question: what was the fuel consumption at the beginning and then after the upgrade (in mpg)? Thanks
Hi , very good information, I was thinking of putting water meth injection on my Volvo S60 D5, , but with the smoke I don't know now, good to see it in the real world, Thanks Dave
You can obviously tune the fuel to suit ... However not sure if it's worth the extra monies and complications of a WM system for the small gains in power ... Yes when you are to the top end and you want to keep egt under control but else is no point ... But again this is my opinion only ..
I noticed you meantioned the Maf sensor maxing out after tuning a few videos , what sort of g/s should a stock and stage 1 tuned A5 TDI expect to see ? Mines stock as far as I know , vcds shows 240-249 g/s max at 4600rpm doesn't seem right ? guys ?
@@DarksideDevelopments yes , that's exactly what I see , 1800 rail and 1.5 bar boost (245 kpa) . I don't understand why the Maf maxes at 249 g/s then flatlines at 249 ? My other tfsi cars have never flatlined (maxed out ) the mafs
hey there. i have the a5 3.0 tdi with straight pipes and small remap, its around 300hp at the moment. every time i pull hard, at 3rd gear and close the 5000rpm it start flashing a yellow light on the main board and it goes into safe mode ,i believe its either injection or too much power that was given with the repro? Also, how many hp can i get if i hybrid the turbo and with a reprogramation? thanks a lot and keep up the good work!
You would need to check for fault codes, this should give you a better idea if the issue is fuel or boost related. We have done quite a few 400bhp+ 3.0 TDI builds. Please email us with your vehicle details for a quote
The soot coming out isn't exactly burnt diesel like most think..Now before people say what do you know blah blah blah My old man here in Australia is the C.E.O of a company that has been making diesel engines since the 60s maybe even earlier..So we got some very expensive engineers on hand and we learn alot from them and I would argue that that slight increase of power is coming straight from the meth its self and the water and meth is causing it to not burn as much fuel in the combustion chamber hence the more soot/unburnt diesel all diesel guys know you don't want to cool combustion temps it needs heat & compression to burn properly and that silly water meth is having a big side effect on that process so piss it off throw more fuel at it more air and can't have enough sensors before and after more data the more you can learn about what its doing the more you learn what its doing when and where the more you can manipulate the power
nice series! hope you guys bring some 100-200km/h (62-124mph) times to compare my BMW with your Audi. Greetings from germany and keep up the good content
We have spent a lot of money on this project, and a lot of time but for a customer to get this power, its going to be roughly £6k but email for a quote :)
@@ryanp6138 i agree with you 100% also 4wd for winter daily use! Good economy's, nice torque nice horsepower and sound! For under 10k easily!! I did look at these a while ago and always wondered what ur new GTD turbo would do on a v6 3.0tdi audi system, where do u source the new diesel pump from? Audi themselves? I hope to see nice performance again! When u upgrade.
@@ryanp6138 You have a CCWA meaning you have a CP4.2 pump, you should be able to inject 98mg of fuel. Taking you up to 365-370bhp because you already have plenty air with the hybrid.
@@DarksideDevelopments I actually have a A6 C7 3.0tdi V6 manual which is quite rare to be honest I haven't seen any manuals ever for sale except mine 😂 I'd be up for heading over and letting you guys map it and get some proper knowledge on these V6's
this is brilliant!! but i was expecting more power considering you have hybrid turbo / dpf delete / exhaust AND METH ... Have you tried to change the MAP sensor to a 4 bar MAP sensor ? it will give you more torque gains and better boost control.
I have the same car v6 tdi 3.0 but in manual I tried contacting the previous owner to know what mods it’s had but no luck only thing I can see is it’s had dpf off and a loud stainless exhaust fitted it seams faster than my E90 330d. How do I find out if it’s had a remap or other bits please advise
@@ryanp6138 Very nice I was thinking around 400 myself depending on fuel pump. What kind of price would a customer be expecting to pay for the same upgrades as this just without the meth install.. its not something im interested in running on my daily car

Bigger air flow meter housing mate. Sits on the intake piping on the compressor side of the turbo. Like a popular upgrade on the s bodies are z32 mafs.
Awesome, loving this. How much would it be for these modifications? If I was to enquire through Darkside. Is it better to get a GTD2872VRK or go with a Hybrid turbo? My A5 currently has DPF delete, Exhaust, remap. Thanks!
Differences between Dynos, engine age, condition, DPF condition etc etc. Many variables. You can only compare the same car on the same dyno on the same day to be 100% sure
Hey guys I'm going to try another social media platform in case this one doesn't work but I've got a 2012 Q7 3.0 TDI prestige what are the power potentials when just doing a tune on it
✌ from Germany, great work How much cost this set up (stage 3?) My car same 3.0 A5 2007 Intercooler (Wagner) Garrett GT 35 I have bought👍 Maybe can have some infos Thanks✌ Sorry for my English👌😂
nice video, helped me alot of understanding this engine. im in the "middle" of swapping turbo on my 3,0tdi CAPA engine. i have to change it anyway cus the last owner did not hook back on the intake propperly so the turbo is sandblasted inside. im def, gonna look out for videos uploaded by Darkside Developments in the future.
I've been pondering over investing money in just a remap or uprated turbo + remap + custom exhaust, would MOT still be viable if I kept the DPF? Also, I noticed there is also a "high flow race dpf" sold by yourselves, is this road capable? CFFB 2.0tdi (140bhp), aiming for 200 smoke free.
Keeping the stock DPF will be the best way to pass an MOT and the only fully legal way. As long as its not blocked then this doesn't cause much of a restriction. Please drop us an email and we will price up some options for you - sales@darksidedevelopments.co.uk
@@DarksideDevelopments Shoot 44 for for All wheel drive. 6F for six cylinder front wheel drive. The later dynos on this car were done in shoot 44, so I don't understand why this was shoot 6F.
The earlier models (pre 2003) used to fail a lot, also heard that those were very restrictive for some reason. I never understood why because the same pump is being used on trucks. And they also can't be upgraded since they're linked straight to the cars ECU and for that you'd need Bosch tools that basically no one has.
@@leet7031 330d is a more accurate comparison, usually more expensive base car and mostly RWD unless you pay twice this price. I own a 335d X drive too and this is much faster

@@SERBIASRT8 You said what happens, not what you gain. On a car with a blocked DPF, it could be a lot. On a car with a healthy DPF, the benefits are one less thing to go wrong, and more noise. They are not really a restriction unless you are going for big power
Very interesting good to see your showing what actually happens rather than just pretending it makes far more power than it could make Tell me about the pump conversion do you slow the cp3 down or still run at engine speed best thing for a cp4 pump is the bin biggest piece of crap bosch ever made good luck with the project.
Well that's the idea, the day could have gone differently but we would have still filmed it! It went so well we were happy. We will have a 1:1 bolt on kit first and the bigger pump will need us to produce custom brackets
If I could leave some constructive criticism: Get a better mic and you also talk as if you were just thinking out loud. I felt like you weren’t explaining things at all. Rather just thinking to yourself what you could or want to do in the future.
BMW twin turbo diesel is so much more tunable than this. I’ve seen them hit 380bhp without bolt ons... any reason for this? I’m not an Audi Basher by the way I’m just curious !
@@kandykouturelondon2028 I've also seen 3.0tdi reach those figures with no bolt ons. There are A LOT of factors that can affect the numbers. This particular 3.0tdi, as mentioned in the video, was producing lower figures than expected.
