They're close enough for me to not be able to tell. I haven't got an amp these days because I don't want to be heard at a good sound, so I'm all headphones through a laptop. But something superlow wattage would work.
Hey great comparison video Vladimir. I hardly notice a difference on the single coil experiments but the humbuckers choke just a fraction more on the low power setting. Happy New Year!
3:14 this was the only difference: I heard a little less gain in the chords at .3W they both sound great. Oh actually at around 4:58 the 0.3W actually sounded a bit clearer to my ears
Like some one mentioned in the comments, the difference is night and day in a room. The master volume works exceedingly well. Try the full power mode with low master volume and you'll notice the difference in the 3D effect and punch.
CatPick Studios Great insight. I am about to get one of these amps and would really like to know whether full power mode + low setting on the master volume is useable. I can’t really play much louder than ~ 75 dB, though. The speaker would be about 18 feet away from me. Thanks!
@@massiegauthier1529 Hi - yes, I bought one a few years ago. The master volume works very well for me and it’s usually a little under 9 o’clock with channel volume/gain usually around noon or a little less. This is ok full 22W mode. So, yeah - fits my needs for low volumes and nice tones. The way my amps are is opposite from most - I have lower treble and higher bass and it’s lovely full sound.
Yes of course. The idea was to find out if the 0.3 watt mode sounds different or not. People always prefer the louder sound so the comparison would be pointless unless I matched the levels.
In the room it’s night and day I have this amp trust me with the 22w output the way the speakers move and punctuation it’s so much richer. Even at similar dB if you have 0.3 on full and the 22watts on very low. Still sounds good on 0.3 but In comparison lifeless.
VIM VIM 👍I totally forgot I wrote that lol must have been pissed. Reading that it’s not only the speakers that lacked punctuation! I’ve since moved to the 44! Didn’t use that 0.3w at all. There’s not much in it at all from the 22 but slightly more headroom the head is boss though and I intend to have it many years so for me it was the (to me at least) better build of the head.
seems a bit pointless this. Surely it matters more what the .3 watts sounds like into a real physical speaker? Why on earth would you run the amp at .3 watts into a something like the Torpedo Live, surely you would just run it as normal. I bet .3 watts into a speaker sounds pretty awful. Your test is pretty much worthless.
