If acquiring one weren't an issue, would you be interested in using a contra-alto clarinet too? Or an Ab clarinet?

Absolutly! I think the sound will be better the more different instrument you use.

@@23Clarinets I'm curious if you tend to use both the Bb and A clarinet regardless of the key of the piece. As someone who doesn't play the clarinet, and almost exclusively hears the advice to choose the one that yields the simplest key signature, it would be interesting to see how someone who can take finer-grained considerations into account scores for them.

Yes, I use both Bb and A clarinets (and Eb) in all arrangements. I believe that the mixing of different tuned instrument make a warmer and more pleasant sound. Sometimes the Bb clarinets have a easier key, and sometimes the A clarinets. And I also think you should practice the "harder" keys sometimes. ;-)
