I really like this money-saving idea. And the heat/ice bath trick is freaking genius. I recently found out that Home Depot sells 10-pound bags of crushed glass for between $25 and $40, depending on color. They do have sales as well.

😊 guess i better keep my glass from a fish tank i just busted up. I threw the shards in the trash , guess i better go get them and just wait for a project idea or wash them real good and sell them by the jar 😊

Your welcome! Make sure you use a very hard surface to break your crystals… maybe like concrete. It will make things much easier

I’ve done this by baking the glass then ice water bath to really crack them. For hammering, used old socks I was getting rid of anyway 😆

@@vickyb9918 Wow. That is great! I am still going to update the color theory and paint consistency modules since those are the most important ones to have vibrant colors and prevent cracked paintings. Will let you know when that is up!!!

@@ArtasiaLand that will be great. Just finished color theory video this afternoon. The way you explained the paint consistency was so good, unlike any other artist I’ve heard.

@@vickyb9918 Sometimes I feel like I can’t explain things well enough so I am glad I was clear enough for you. Consistency is one of those super hard things to explain to other people through video or blog posts.

How long do you bake them for and what temperature

How long do you need to heat them? And on high?

I tried this technique a couple times, the glass did not break easily. Maybe my water wasn't cold enough or I didn't let them heat up long enough. I hammered and hammered but only got a few to breaK
@ArtasiaLand
@ArtasiaLand 2 года назад
Yes, the water needs to be super cold… lots of ice in it. Plus you have to heat them up quite a bit! Also, smashing up the pieces on top of a solid surface like concrete really helps!

Put the beads in your oven don't boil them in a pot lol then when you pour them into ice water they crack so loudly
