You can probably expect to see that jig again in about a year. Not that there's anything wrong with pocket screws, it's just not my preferred joinery. But I probably shouldn't say that because I'll have to give this $1M check back to Kreg.

I picked up the bits at Rockler in a set years ago. But they don't sell it anymore. Click the link in the description to go to the post on my site and you'll find a link there to a very similar bit. As for the t-shirt, I'll have to ask Nicole.

you'll see his festool track saw in many videos. I think in this case the goal of the build was simplicity - something anyone can do with just the basic tools a beginner woodworker could/should have. I like the fact that Marc often shows us how to do things with less fancy tools.

I am building this for the cause - and I'm about 90% done- but it is a combination of this video and the mere mortals video plan The one thing you did not address and I would like your thoughts on - is how to install the piano hinge so that the lid sits flush the whole way along the top. As you made it there will be a gap tapering from back to front, right? I would rate myself as grasshopper and you as sensei - so I'm not trying to be a jerk - but honestly curious. I have mitered this out with a chisel or router in the past - is there a better way?

I know this is an old post. But I'm getting ready to do the assemby stage. I have a question. Can you tell me if it would affect the assembly, if I bring the side plywood back to the edge of the 1 x 17" side board, to allow more room for books. So instead of 1 1/2" spacing, it would be 2". This is a great project, and simple enough for me to do. You've done a great job in explaining everything. Keep up the great work you do.
@patamonsvk
@patamonsvk 8 лет назад
While your projects are really nice. Literally everyone requires an wood-workshop full of tools to actually execute the way you present it. Some are even not doable for an common guy that wants to do some wooden furniture. Would be great if you did a few videos with the focus on simplicity in making. Maybe a challenge to your self: Take only 3 tools from your workshop (several clams counts as 1 tool, just do not overdo it) You can only use materials that are wildly available (no special glue and stuff) You have to work outside of your workshop (at your backyard or something) Hope you will find it interesting as a challenge to do great stuff with limited resources.

I must say, That was a mighty pretty wig around 15:15. But it is nice to see people that come together and do stuff for the cause of cancer. So to all those supporting this, and to Marc and Steve. I applaud you guys. On behalf of someone watching his mother fighting cancer, and it does not involve her breast. It is nice to see groups supporting more than just breast cancer. That is a nice organization and all but it seems a bit one sided. So you donating to cancer in general and not just for the boobies, I think that is outstanding. (No I am not great with expressing my words nor am I against the fight against breast cancer. I just think it's nice to see the fight against cancer itself.)

Hey Marc. My names Keith and im from the UK. I know this is 7 years old and i cant believe its taken me this long to find it. Im currently building a blanket box for my sister, she is expecting her first baby in the new year and since ny woodworking skills are growing faster than my money tree lol i figured id better put them to good use. I have to say Marc, I'm going to attempt to build one of these toy chests and if it looks real good when im finished, Then im going to auction it off and donated the money to my local charity which helps young children where i live.

Nice job! I really like the thoughtfulness of the chest, the beveled sides, the whiteboard front. I have two questions: 1. where to get the Lego base plate? 2. why did you milk paint? Is it harmless if the kid chews some paint off and eats it? (Yes, I know it's a stupid question, but as a parent, I've seen too many things kids do that gave me a heart attack on the spot so I need to know.) Thanks
