#238. This WILL Change Resin Art FOREVER!
In todays Resin Art video we take my Resin Art experiment "The Swipe and Wipe" to a new level!
Less Swiping and wiping... more rolling and pressing! But the same concept, but with this method, we can apply colors to the designs unlike the swipe and wipe with baby lotion or petroleum jelly!
This has so much potential for resin art, 3D designs with any texture/color and size! Just Press, Cut and Color! Reuse the designs or just melt them into new ones! This IS Amazing!
If you have a laser, you can even make any design you want!
If you have seen this done before, let me know in the comments, I will update my description to credit the origional artist, I have not seen it done. I believe credit should ALWAYS be given. Some have not been doing this in the community and that is NOT supportive! Also, be sure to tag anyone if you try their techniques 😁🥰
Please use safely as hot water is required!

Guys, I just remembered an idea I forgot to mention! Once you have made the design on the flat sheet, you can use a heat gun on fresh sticks (cut down) and create a dam on the sheet before dusting.... then you have a mold! 🤩

Did you know you could lay your stencil across the back of your mold and it will peel right off? It does even better if you rub it down in 100% silicone oil but it will definitely leave the design on your cured UV resin piece either way. But this is still ingenious Daniel temporary inlays (like a temporary tattoo 😂 which I'd love to see you incorporate in a piece) and doing the stenciled area in black was awesome it really made that interference green pop!! Loved this!! Great work as always ❤❤❤❤🤗

You keep throwing game changers at us that make it possible for someone like me to be creative on a budget. Im almost there with the funds for my next round of resin art and Im so excited to try the remoldable molding material!🥰🤩 If you are taking suggestions, I would love to see a resin pour with layered multicolor GlowInDark pigments for a spooky 3D depth. Kind of wispy, ethereal threads through the layers. is that even possible?

Would it work the same way by adding the stamp on the back to create an indentation in/on the back of the object - especially jewelry? I have a gazillion stamps that were either gifted to me or I purchased and that would be amazing to use them too if possible. Another great project. Thanks for sharing.

I was wondering if this stuff is food safe (chocolates!!!) and then it occurred to me that DIY mouthguards/gumshields use a similar plasticky stuff you soften in v hot water and then they go in mouths all night (so have to be safe, right?!). How is that stuff you're using different please ? as It looks exactly like thermoplastic. I've been using that as mould material for years but i find it cools very quickly and I gave up. It was too annoying trying to get details or large shapes and if you have a big lump melting it all down to reuse took ages. You have to pick the melted later off so the stuff underneath gets hot.

Huh... Interesting ideas! Maybe if you keep a mini stainless steel rolling pin around and put it in the hot water with the plastic stuff, you could work on getting the sheet more perfectly flat without needing to rush as much? 🤔 Personally, I think it might actually be easier to use that colored UV resin that you did that textured, stringy look with to work with the stencils (pull up the stencil and then cure and leave as-is or add color on top) but this stuff would definitely be best with the molds for inlays. 😉👍

That's so cool! You are amazing! I love watching your vids 💕💕 I wonder if you can do the swipe method with UV Resin? I know it's too runny so maybe the glue+UV resin mixture? I found that I can use it just like regular UV resin (but it's just much thicker when mixed with a high-viscosity UV resin). 🤔🤔

Following on from another comment I made a while ago, I can’t seem to find the resin clay you use in your videos. Definitely nothing to buy in Australia so went through all the links you’ve provided. I’m sorry I just cannot find the brand that you use. Can you please help at all, like supplying the translated name of the pack that you get? I live in regional Queensland Australia so finding anything at all is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I’ve tried Amazon Australia but you can only get modelling clay to bake. I’d appreciate any advice at all Thanking you in advance Kym

Great video, the stuff your using is a thermoplastic also sold under the brand name Polymorph, it is really quite cheap on eBay 500gm for £17, the idea your showing here will be useful for those with a 3D printer(like me 😁), they can make custom stencils because generally the layer that adheres to the print bed is super smooth ideal for pressing into the Polymorph, THANK YOU 🤩

Hey Daniel! Bear paw? Nooo it's a dog paw lol I don't do coasters and the like, but I can see the potential in jewellery making, awesome video, imaginative and creative, love it. I'll go back and have another go, I think I need to wear two pairs of gloves though, as I kept getting fingerprints on the backs of the things I made with this stuff, it's very sensitive. I wish I had more time in the day lol x

Basic craft paints usually contain water, it's a risky additive at times, not many show vids on it.

I use your swipe and wipe method and use different amounts of the lotion, thicker in some area, and that creates different depth. After it's all cured and cleaned th lotion off,I use clear school glue mixed with mica powders and paint the colors in,coat it with a clear sealant and flood coat. I am so thankful you showed us the swipe and wipe!

Hi Daniel. Another very cool idea! When you were showing your swipe and wipe examples at the beginning, I had a thought... I do leathercraft and the need to get color into your inset areas seems similar to when I need to color carving or engraving on leather. To do this on leather, you use what's called a "resist". It's typically an acrylic topcoat of some kind. You apply a couple coats, let it dry, and the apply antique stain. It will only stay in the carved / recessed areas and the excess just wipes off. So, for example, I recently made blue marble-dyed leather with gold colored carving this way. I wonder if you could do something similar to fill those recessed areas in resin? It would probably depend on what colorant you were using. But, basically, you'd just need to coat the piece with something it won't stick to, blob on your color, and wipe off the excess. I'm not to the point yet with resin where I'm able to try it myself, but it might be an interesting thing for you or someone to experiment with. Just seemed like such a similar task that I think a similar approach could make sense.
