"Jungle" was originally written by Jef Lee Johnson and Jimi Hazel & Ronny Drayton wrote the extended "For Jef" addition. Recorded over a three day period in NYC at the Magic Shop recording, the track & video are the ultimate expression of love and respect for our brother, who we all miss dearly.

On behalf of all the cats & kittens that participated in the creation of this labor of love for our brother, Jef, I say THANK YOU to each and every one of you for listening, digging and purchasing the single! Jef Lee Johnson was the absolute truth on so many levels much in the same way that 24-7 Spyz remains true to making real music for real people with real hearts and real ears. Rick Skatore, Ronny Drayton & I chose this track as the way to begin our journey returning to the art of making music again because it came from the purest place possible. Our hearts. And the same went for our brothers Lenny White, Chico Huff, Eddie Martinez, Vernon Reid & Jesse Johnson, who joined us on the track celebrating Jef through their absolutely brilliant and kick ass performances! Because of all the love I've received since the release of this track, I was once again reminded that making the music that matters to us STILL matters to MANY people and as Spyz continues on the journey of making new music with the line up of Jimi Hazel, Rick Skatore, Ronny "Head" Drayton & Phillip "Fish" Fisher, I hope that the brotherhood forged with this track finds us collaborating on many, many more musical endeavors! Magic got made and the messages I received from listeners all over the world today confirmed that. More music will come from 24-7 Spyz, that is a promise! And in a strange, beautiful and bittersweet way, Jef Lee Johnson is the one to thank for that! Saw you guys in Boise years ago for the Harder Than You tour. Never will forget that gig! My friends band opened, then Nirvana, then Spyz. Rick sat at the table with my guitar player and I while the other bands played. One hell of a concert!

Thank you for doing this ! I'm big fan of Jef lee ,Got into him when he tour with George Duke .I would see him in passing .They would get off the plane as we were getting on the plane .One day my keyboard player said she loved Jef Lee Johnson and he was her favorite Guitarist and have I heard him . Wow I better investigate . Been a fan ever since . This is a great tribute !

hi Jimi, i am studying your sustain-tremo technique. it is amazing. the blend of a high gain sustain with slight movements of the trem bar is just the coolest sound and you do it better than anyone. back in the day i was in a Detroit based band and we used to cover a few Spyz tunes. i always loved it when our singer would say 'we're going to play a little Jimi for ya'. yeah, John Connelly was on it's way. ha. well, keep the faith. I love to study how great players approach things. i am also studying the Dennis Coffey wah technique. it's all good. peace to you Jimi. rock on.

Yeah man! One of the bands coming out of the funk/rock/metal explosion of the late eighties, early nineties. I never did get to see them in a live setting but if they do still tour, i would gladly go and support them. Excellent!

Been a fan since I scored the Harder Than You cassette. Remember back in the day in '96 or '97 or so seeing you guys playing at a little club in Florida, supporting the Heavy Metal Soul By The Pound album. You guys tore that shit up like it was Madison Square Garden, though.... heavy-ass rocking, and astounded me personally with your guitar playing. Furthermore, you guys were cool as can be to my buddy Billy and me, just talking shit and hanging with us. Soundtrack To the Innermost Galaxy is an amazing album, and intensely personal and profoundly open. Good stuff. Thanks for all the years of great music. Keep up the good work, and God bless.

Yo. Never guess how/why I found my way to this clip ... since some days I had (no clue why) the spoken line "they say NO JUGGER BUGGY" (or was it "Jungle Boogie"? help!!) in my mind ... finally felt I remembered it was from SPYCE ... dont know from which CD ... lost them all ... saw YOU 1990 in Berlin in the LOFT ... think I remember the drummer spitting water on his cymbals in sync with hitting them ... greeeeeat gig! cool to see the guys still on it! ;-)

Mean, Mean track. Done in my neck of the woods (well I'm from Da Bronx, Da Boogie Down). Grew up from HS til now listening to 24/7. Love all the love and heart put it and the single note rhythm is beast!!! And the ending is the same. Jimi, you took a pic with myself and cousin at the Kings X concert in Oct of 2014 in NYC.
