The fact that they carved that monument with dynamite is crazy. There is a crazy horse memorial that has been in progress for decades. It’s no easy task to make it. It’s pretty crazy to experience the monument. And the drive up to it is beautiful

This may sound kooky, weird , but watching your videos is very relaxing. Watching the Mtn views , waterfalls is all so relaxing , my favorite video was the Vermont in the fall , since fall is my favorite time of year . The President monument was awesome. So after going to Vermont one day , I hope to visit this place is next . I hope

Hi. Found your channel through seeing this as a recommended video. Very nicely done, both filming, production, and narration. Also nice that you had your dad along. Have subscribed and look forward to more videos. As info, I'm an avid hiker (age 71), and any trails I can see/walk gets my attention. God Bless!

Next time you visit Mt Rushmore go in the snow, it’s a whole different feel. We weren’t planning to see it in the snow it’s just how the weather turned on us. It was amazing. Love the adventures, keeping them rolling in. 🎉

You guys did it the right way, start at the south end of Iron Mountain Rd and drive north to Mt. Rushmore. You get the benefit of seeing Mt. Rushmore through the tunnels, which frame it perfectly. Also, visitors make sure they drive the Custer State Park Wildlife Loop and Needles Highway. You can do all 3 in a continuous loop starting on US 385 near Crazy Horse Mountain. After viewing Mt. Rushmore go a mile or so west and you can get a great profile shot of Washinton through a slot between the rocks.

This was awesome guys! I was on a “cross Country” trip in the summer of 1971 (I was 16) with my father, step mother and step brother, they chose to skip Mt Rushmore. Though I did continue my travels around the Country, (and a bit of the world) I never got there. I especially enjoyed that tour, 51 years later 😂.

I was so impressed with Mount Rushmore- just the idea of taking a tram up there everyday so long ago and creating these images with dynamite and jack hammers is mind blowing. The ice cream was good too- I had huckleberry.

Wow, that has changed incredibly since I was there as a child. Dad was stationed at the Air Force Base in Rapid City and I remember going to Mount Rushmore a few times. I remember a not very large parking lot, there was no where to get food but I do remember a visitor/gift shop where I talked my Dad into buying me a softball sized pink quartz rock and I wonder to this day whatever happened to my rock from Mountain Rushmore 🧐

If you're on the fence about going to see this, it's worth it. So much to do in the black hills. My advice for Mt Rushmore, I went right at sunrise early in the morning and was pretty much the only person there. I walked the entire trail and didn't see a single person. If you wanna beat the crowds go early. You'll see everything in an hour or less. Then head out to the rest of what the black hills has to offer

You might be interested to know that Herb Conn, who with his wife Jan, did most of the exploration of Jewel Cave, also used to lead the team that cleaned Mt. Rushmore. (Jan was also one of the first two women who, as a team, climbed Devil's Tower. Quite the couple! I was lucky enough to count them as friends.)

After seeing the magnificent but incomplete Crazy Horse Memorial, Rushmore is a tiny afterthought. IMO, it's a crowded tourist trap. Oh and look up the sculptor of Rushmore. Not a good person, and it's quite ironic.

Sorry, but knowing the racist history behind constructing Mount Rushmore I have absolutely no desire to visit unless it is to flip the bird like my fellow Natives. If you go south of here you can discover just what the American government has done and the most impoverished people not counting Haiti on this side of the planet. The true monument in Paha Sapa is the Crazy Horse Memorial.
