Hi guys, we hope you enjoyed this video! As budget backpackers we are no stranger to 7-Elevens around Asia but Taiwan has been our favourite so far! Do you have a favourite 7-Eleven snack? Any we missed? Comment down below! 😊

Hello, if there is any chance that you guys would travel again to Taiwan, you can try again the triangle rice ball from the 7-11 or any convenient stores, there is step number on the package, you can just follow that step to tear the wrapper, it’s pretty easy 😉👌

You did really well at 7-11! Hannah actually picked one of Taiwan's most famous exports for dinner - the beef noodles! Hoping you'll get to try some indigenous foods!

hey! I'm taiwanese and OMG beef noodles are my favourite food. Loving the Taiwan content. Have you tried the new beef noodles in 7 11? Definitely recommend! ( although these aren't instant noodles )

Just discovered you guys and I'm loving your Taipei content! You have such a chill, low-key, and heartfelt way of presenting things, and your travelling style is so relatable and not at all fake-influencer-y which is very refreshing! Gotta help me out though, I can't place your accents 😋 For a moment I thought Welsh, but now I'm leaning to something Northern, maybe Liverpool?
@jamieandhannah_
@jamieandhannah_ Год назад
Thank you so much, it means a lot to us that you enjoyed 🥰 haha yes, we're from Liverpool! Some people guess Irish, Scottish, Welsh... we've heard it all 😂 but you're good at detecting English regional accents!

Just so you know.. There is a little bit different way to make the instant beef noodles from what you did... This is how most of the Taiwanese do it... You open the spice and oil packages then put them in with the noodle...then you put the hot water in.. (normally there is a hot water line inside the bowl in case you put too much water and lose the flavor! maybe around 500ml) anyway then you cover it up! Then you put the meat package on top of the HOT bowl.. using the steam heat through the cover to “reheat” the meat package! Plus you dont have to find something to hold the cover.. normally the cover will pop up and you lose the heat to cook the noodle. (You can check the time on the package.. or between 3-5 mins or 5-10 mins.. depends on the brand of the instant noodles) The reason for most Taiwanese to do this is.. if you put the meat package with the noodles.. you may needed more time to cook the noodles cause of the soup in the meat package is normal temperature! then it will make the HOT water you put in wont be enough to cook the noodles sometimes. PS: we only do this way with the instant noodles has meat package... Anyway.. just a special Taiwanese way to cook the instant beef noodles..

It's so fun to see y'all so psyched about eating at 7-Eleven; thanks for sharing. Most of those foods from the soups to the pork bun (割包) have real-life versions on the outside that are even better. I ain't never seen nobody eat the skin of a sweet potato before, but whatever floats your boat. 😉
@jamieandhannah_
@jamieandhannah_ Год назад
Haha it must be strange for locals to watch…but it’s amazing to us how good the food is from a convenience store! We just don’t have this quality or choice in England so it’s fun discovering it all 😄 We tried plenty of food outside too, it was often much cheaper! We loveddddd beef noodle soup 🍲 hahahaha do you guys not eat the skin? If it’s cooked right it’s the best part!

Ok trivia for you guys: Taiwanese cuisine is particularly notable for that uniquely chewy-squishy-gummy texture, and they call it "QQ". It's why Taiwan is obsessed with things like boba, mochi, and the chewy texture you've enjoyed in the dumpling wrappers. They even cook noodles differently in Taiwan- whereas traditional Chinese noodles (especially soup noodles) tend to be uniformly soft and tender, in Taiwan you're more likely to find noodles that still have a little bit of chew in the center, almost like al dente.
@jamieandhannah_
@jamieandhannah_ Год назад
Ahhh, now you say it, a lot of the food does have that kind of texture! I (Jamie) love boba tea and Hannah really likes al dente noodles! We also ate bento boxes on the trains and the Tofu has that kinda chewy squishy texture too, would that also be described as "QQ"?
