I've lived in Detroit for 25 years and I go back there as often as I can and I've seen it change so much since the 1980s. Like ANY major city, it's far from perfect but it absolutely crushes me when people STILL talk about Detroit (mostly from people who've never been there) as if it's still the 1970s or some hellish nightmare city or something. There's a lot of really cool things going on in the city and the metro area if you actually are open-minded enough to give it a chance. Due to ignorance and lack of positive exposure, I fear that it's one of those American cities that will never fully escape its once highly deserved stereotypes but I'm happy to see you making a video like this to show the good side of the city that very little people on social media seem interested in exploring!
Krystal. I was born and raised literally a 10-minute drive from downtown Detroit. I retired from 21 years of military service and reside in Texas, but all of my relatives still live in "The D". I just want to say a big "THANK YOU!" for such POSITIVE comments about our often disparaged city, as it truly is a wonderful place! I am super happy that you guys enjoyed such a great visit to our city, and that you reflected that positive experience to the rest of the world! Thanks again, and God bless!🙏😇
Hey, Krystal! Thank you for this video! I'm going to Detroit this weekend to visit the sights (Motown, Tigers Game, Henry Ford, etc) and volunteer with the blight blusters to help demolish vacant buildings to honor my mother who passed away last month from cancer. She went me to the Motor city in 2015 to volunteer to a tree farm to plant trees in a distressed neighborhood. I can't wait to go back to see the 313 progress!
Detroit is so chill not traffic its safe and its not expensive! Try going up north next time if you wanna experience white sand beaches and trails , a lot of good aventures and mckinac island too
You guys make me appreciate my hometown even more! Just FYI, coneys are not made with an average hot dog they’re actually viennas with a casing. That’s why you have the snap texture when you bite it.
Dang you have a cute personality.. I live just north of DETROIT and never knew of the hockey golf and little fair like bumper cars an that.. This is Cool.. You made our Town look GREAT.. HAPPY HOLIDAYS you TWO.. Ronnie here glad u enjoyed it.. DETROIT LIONS DEVASTATE BABY..
When it gets warmer, you should come back and check out Greenfield Village in Dearborn. Also go to a Michigan game at the BIG house.... there is so much more Michigan has to offer, the scenery (Petoskey) Detroit is the only city north of Canada....
I lived in Detroit my whole life and this was a pretty cool video, you guys really should’ve went outside of midtown There is a lot of amazing food in Southwest and Dearborn
Michigan is like the delivery pizza capital of the U.S. Hungry Howies, Domino's and Little Caesers all started in Michigan. Little Caesers has gone down in quality over the years, but the prices are very reasonable. If you want to try a good Detroit style pizza go with Jets, Buddy's, or Loui's and make sure you get a Detroit style deep dish. Next time you visit, before you leave, you have to try Michigan staples. Vernors ginger-ale, Faygo soda's, and Better Made potato chips. You should visit Mackinac Island and get the fudge. There are no cars allowed on Mackinac Island. You have to take a ferry or plane to get there. You can travel on the island by horse and buggy or bicycle. There's a beautiful hotel called The Grand Hotel on the island. It's like going back in time. There are a bunch of cute shops that line the streets and even a wax museum. It's an amazing destination, and would make for a good day trip.
Krystal is SO nice and kind. Wow! Miniature hockey. You got around and hit the close hot spots. Man, that had to be an incredibly long day for you. It’s a MUST then. You got to come back for the Super Bowl if the Lions/Geoff gets in. I think they’ll open the Lions Ford Field for watching on TV or the sports bars. Book 2 nights, maybe 3. A little way too over excited on the teeter-totter, maybe. 😳
Hello there. Great video! (sorry my comment is long, lol...tldr, lol) I love it when people come to Detroit and have a great time. There is a LOT to like/love about Detroit, but so many just want to focus on the bad and trash it. Downtown has fun stuff all year round. Did you go to the giant Christmas tree? They have a lighting ceremony each year and it is awesome (look it up,) and just a TON of people go there. Fun Fact: Windsor, Canada is actually SOUTH of Detroit! One of the few places where Canada is actually South of the US. Did you like the Detroit Style Pizza? You didn't exactly say. Buddy's is the original, but some other places actually make it better, lol! Slow's gets all the press, and to be fair it's pretty good, but there are a few places (including Food Trucks) that I think do some things better. Yeah, some people don't like those kind of hotdogs, but other people really enjoy the "snap" and miss it when a dog doesn't have that. Some other foods from Detroit/Michigan: Vernor's Ginger Ale (the first soda beverage,) Faygo sodas, Towne Club sodas, Better Made brand potato chips (huuuge varities available,) Downey's potato chips, Velvet brand peanut butter, Sander's chocolates and fudges, Mackinac Island Fudge, Jiffy baking mix (not to be confused with Jif peanut butter,) B Nektar meads, Valentine vodka, Anteel tequila, and a TON of craft beers including Founders and Bell's. Thank you SO very much for a great video that I really hope gets some of your viewers to give Detroit a visit. ~Be Blessed
Detroit looks like an amazing city and so is their food! Your content is amazing and you really inspire me of becoming a content creator myself so I can travel to all these amazing destinations like Detroit and of course Disney and Universal! What is some good advice you can give someone who wants to be a content creator like yourself? Thank you so much Krystal and have a happy holiday!
Nice work making it to Sloes! Was there last week ! And you got coneys ! Yes!!! Lafayette has the best coneys ! You get used to the casing on the hot dogs lol . Great video , Thanks for the positive reviews !
So, when's Joey moving here Lol! You guys did it right for a 24hr trip 👍You covered all the classic Detroit food we're known for in a day, pretty impressive 🙌 Now we gotta get you guys back for a good Wings v Rangers game and a good craft beer tour. Glad you guys had fun, hopefully I'll see you in the future here in the D! 😁
Super fun vid. I might want to go to Detroit, I would rather go to New York City. The food looked so good., but I don’t like hotdog skin. The ice hockey game was cool. It’s crazy how close Canada is. Thank you K…..and J.
Great video! I always love when out of towners give Detroit a try and enjoy it. Of course 1 day is not near enough time to see all Detroit has to offer but you guys did a great job for such a short trip. The snap of the hot dog is the BEST.red for by most that love the real thing. Also is very easy to achieve and is actually what normally indicates overcooked. It's not fall off the bone it's mushy. A true competition winning rib will be very tender but can bite through and leave the rest of the meat ON the bone🤠😎 Hope you come back for another great video.
Michigan has the best hot dogs!!! They use natural casing on their hot dogs. Gives them That snap you didn't like. Flint coneys are better than Detroit's though. Good video thanx for giving detroit some love.
You should've went to reds barbeque. it was literally right next to the hotel hollywood casino. It's in between a liquor store and the old Walhbergurs restaurant.
I was in The D last summer for the Woodward dream cruise. Detroit has definitely got it going on now. I have been going there every couple of years since the 80’s. It’s baaack!,!! Visit Detroit for sure.
Nice video! Good to see you all enjoyed that experience. That was alot of eating you all did. If you all enjoy food that much I won't be suprised if you two visit New Orleans in 2024. I've been to Detroit 3 times in my life, but my last time there was in June 2019 for a 3-day weekend event called the River Days which features and air and water show, live music, plenty of food vendor trucks, and occasionally fun rides for children, teens and grown-ups, but they only had 2 fun rides for young children while I was there so that whole event didn't live up to the hype for me. At least I enjoyed the air and water show. I also strictly stayed in the downtown part since most of Detroit is unfortunately quite dangerous.
Proper see-saw etiquette is for Joey to move ahead of the handles, to get perfect weight balance in the air. Then you can just lean back and your side will go down.
The Conservatory is being refurbished. Technical stuff: the glazing around the glass was breaking down. It was inspected and the supporting framework was found to be in bad shape, on top of broken and missing glass panes. It was decided to refurbish the thing, which basically means they are rebuilding it almost completely. Donations happily accepted!
