As a mom, I just love that you have your mom with you. Seeing the two of you together, warms my heart as it brings nice memories of my daughter and I and the way we were. ♥️♥️
1:52 so you translated it as a "lunch danish" but it would actually be a breakfast danish. The reason is that in quebec we say "déjeuner, diner, souper" for breakfast, lunch and dinner. But in france, they say "petit-déjeuner, déjeuner, diner".
Hello from Texas just want to thank you for taking us along to Canada. And showing us so many great places to eat to see. And please say hello to your mother from me much love continue to stay safe and well. ❤️🙏
With your background in graphic arts & architecture, Montreal ~ Montréal must have been like going to Disney World in France! ♥ ... From the food, as well, this 24-hours was a feast for your eyes, intellect & stomach! Talk about a Bon Voyage & Bon Appetite! ♥
Love your vlogs so much, I'm trapped in bed, battling bone cancer, in strict isolation. Your vlogs give me the happy escape I need to help me pass my days. I don't get to see my Mom much, so I definitely enjoy watching your adventures with your Mommy Oh.
I think it’s really fun to think Mina is the reason I want to eat healthier. As well I want to eat more Asian food they look much more delicious and nutritious. So just thank you Mina you are really helping my weight loss journey as well as bring the joy of watching your videos. I can’t wait till I am older and get to travel the way you do I want to try all the foods you get as well as see the places you do.
Pro tip: Joe Beef requires getting a reservation well ahead of time. If you can't get one, you can try Livepool House next door by the same chefs. If again you can't, there's Vin Papillon next next door and that one is walk-in only, so you always have a chance to get a table.
Thanks for reminding me of all the good places we've got ! Can't wait to go back out once we are out of confinement! Next time, you should try St-Viateur bagles! And I had no idea peanut butter dumplings started here!! Also, a little clarification for the danish. In France, "déjeuner" means 'lunch' (and 'petit déjeuner' is breakfast) but here in Québec, we mostly refer to breakfast as 'déjeuner', lunch as 'dîner' and dinner as 'souper', which makes a little more sense with the egg in that danish! :)
Really great video representing Montreal! Our winters can be quite harsh as you saw but we grow use to it. Mid-End summer and beginning of fall are the best times to come, especially for the farmers market at Jean-Talon and Atwater. Looking forward to your next video!
Wow, Montreal as I live it! So great to watch a “tourist video” so down to earth... It was like if you knew the city already and were not in a touristy rush. I enjoyed seeing Montreal exactly as it is (especially in winter with wind and snow- I note that you had 2 coats 😄). I will travel the world with confidence trough your other videos because I know you have this talent to show things as they really are :-)
I live about 2-3 hours away from Montreal but I do have to go there frequently for medical stuff. I even have family that lives there, and your videos make us discover new places we never thought we would think about going in! Amazing work! Hope you are doing good at your house in this pandemic 💜
Your voice is so relaxing whenever I feel stressed and boring I watch your videos and will get relaxed immediately and your nails I love them 😍 you are giving travel 🧳 inspiration I’ll keep watching your videos for ever and ever . Never stop keep going and most importantly keep posting videos. Loads of love from india 🇮🇳
What a nice video for Mother's day weekend. Hello Mommy Oh...enjoy your day, because Mina picked the sweetest video to show how much she loves your company.
My favorite memory of Montreal was seeing a group of little girls in yellow jumpers and Madeline hats. It was in the old town and it was a perfect afternoon.
The cathedral in the beginning was jaw-dropping beautiful! Mina I also like the wonder and amazement you have when you encounter snow and cold. I've had cold, snowy winters all my life so it's fun to see how a non-snow native reacts to snow. :D Also I just bought a new winter coat this winter and it reminds me a bit of yours!
Oh my god ! You were so close where i live. Chez Clodette is just one street down from my place. I'm french and i live in Montreal for 11 years now. I really love your videos, your personality and your mom ^^
Thank you for pronouncing poutine correctly! When cheese curds are squeaky, they're fresh! But personally, I don't like when they squeak haha! It's so nice to see you explore my city :)
Next time, if you'd like a bit of a history lesson on Montreal, I suggest you visit the Pointe-à-Callière museum - it's also located in Old Mtl! And I had to read Le Libraire as part of my high level French course's required readings in CEGEP (general and vocational college, usually last 2 or 3 years and takes place between high school and university) and well... I don't think anyone really found it all that interesting from what I vaguely remember. All I know is that I got through it really quickly and never touched it again lol.
Miss Mina, I am late to this video but I have to thank you so much! I live in Toronto and I have been to Montreal many times but seeing my favourite city through your lens and just before the pandemic gave me a great smile!
The Danoise Déjeuner should be translated to Danish Breakfast, because in Québec, the tree meals are named déjeuner, diner and souper while in France it's petit déjeuner, déjeuner, diner. Really fun video.
Good ear on the Québécois pronunciation. When there is a t or d before i and u, the letter d converts to a dz sound and t converts to a ts sound in québécois. And the long "i" sometimes gets shortened. So poutine sounds like "poutsin" and mardi sounds like "mardzi." I love Montreal! Even in winter... : )
Thank you for the jacket review because as you said, it's important to know of products that work when you travel to areas with different weather. Stay safe!
Such a lovely 24 hours in Montreal Canada the croissant 🥐 looks so magical the croissant 🥐 with almonds ( need an almond moji :) sparkled 🤩 love watching your vlogs there’s endless knowledge with bits of history an a dash of laughter an love ❤️
Your french pronounciation is spot on. The ''r'' sound is perfect! Are you a native speaker or you just have a incredible ear for learning languages? Ok after a few minutes into the video, I figure your are not a native speaker, but still. You nailed it! If I was your french teacher I would be so proud!
Baisses tes standards, t'es beaucoup trop exigent. XD
We visited Montreal a few years back and had dinner at a French restaurant. We had steak, french fries, salad and dessert. The french fries were so different from what we get here in the US. We were told that they were cooked twice. the dessert was a dessert that we had at Legal Seafood in Boston a few days ago. Can't remember the name of the dessert. I now have to go back and visit their Art Museum of Art.
I think Libraire is actually bookseller. (can you tell I made it to the end 😜) Love your videos especially when there's mommy oh ♥️ Memories that you both will surely treasure. Love from 🇲🇹
Excellent video! Side note for the interested: Déjeuner is not lunch, it is breakfast, dé-jeûner basically means un-fast (not a word I know, but you get what I mean ) so it is the first meal of the day. The European French messed it up and created the: ''petit déjeuner'' which means 'small unfast/breakfast". Which doesn't make a lot of sense.
Once this pandemic clears up you guys really should visit Newfoundland CANADA. You will love it. Things you can see are whales, puffins, ice bergs, historic places. It's beautiful here. You'll get a little piece of our culture here. If someone moves to newfoundland you have to get screeched in, by saying a newbie verse, taking a shot of NL screen and kissing a cod fish haha. I hope you see my comment ❤❤❤❤❤
@@MissMinaOh you're so cultured and you have a very soothing voice by the way , altough it might take a while cause of covid you will love Montréal in summer time for sure! ✌😘 toodles !
You have to rate a poutine based on the fries, the cheese and the sauce. It's really hard to have the trifecta, but it's possible! The cheese has to be squeaky (never grated!), the sauce can be very dark and rich or lighter in colour means sweeter, some places even add cinnamon! As for the fries, you can have thick cut, skinny fries, very crispy, more mushy! As long as it's not frozen fries!
Lets see, I first went to Vancouver - it's spectacular! The prettiest skyline of a city that I've ever seen. It looks like a Simcity skyline. Like it was drawn in a computer, all of the buildings match! Next I went to Toronto. Toronto was fun, lots of good places to eat and fun things to do. But not particularly remarkable. Most recently I was in Calgary/Banff National Park/Jasper National Park which has to be one of the most scenically spectacular place in all of Canada.
La pataterie in Hochelag is the best poutine. They also have the best bacon cheeseburger. Afroditi is the best greek bakery. Marhouse for the best halawet el jibn. La poule mouiller for portuguese chicken. Meumeu for their homemade ice cream. Chez chose for the best service and local cuisine. Dic Annd for chili burgers. Le trou de beigne for their dark chocolate and blueberrynicing donut. Brunch at chez Regine or chez Janine. Khyber pass for afghan food. Bombay Mahal for dahl makhni. The mee kola at La belle tonkinoise. An old fashioned meal at the recently relocated La binerie. Best lemongrass stuffed chicken wings and papaya salad at The street monkeys. Montreal is delicious, need I say more?
