I was going to write the same thing. Everyone else who does meal preps can cut a very big piece of hers.. That´s the way to go.. Reusable containers!!!
So good to see someone else does this! I’ve always cooked multiple meals and portions to freeze so that when I get home from work there is hardly anything to do but a home cooked meal ready in minutes! People say I’m boring, I just think I’m organised!! Thanks for sharing this. X
little 'hack' I personnaly like very much: put a damp cloth underneath the cuttingboard, so it doesn't slide away while cutting. Love the clear an easy to follow prep!!
Simple recipes + Whole food ingredients + Balanced meals + tasteful + freezer friendly = Officially the best meal prep video on youtube. Thank you! Your channel is amazing, this video my favourite within that. All your hard work is much appreciated.
Lunches are my hardest meal. I work away from home and packing my lunch is such a chore! Can't wait to try these. Just found your channel yesterday and I'm binge watching. Keep up the great work. :-)
I looked a lot for something like this... most of the stuff that i find on youtube is "easy quick" meals that have ingredients that i didn't even know that existed. I recently decided to switch from crappy sad sandwitches (after about 6 months) to an actual meal for work, and I'm really struggling with ideas. So thanks for keeping me fed. Some of the stuff you're making looks kind of intimidating to make, but no matter how bad i mess up, it can't be worst than a sandwich. I subscribed and I'll start scanning the channel for more ideas.
I started my meal prep journey today! Bought a chest freezer and done my first 12 packs for meals! 6x Pasta with veggies and mince beef and 6x Rice with vegies and fried egg. Your video is full of inspirations, thank you!
Hi and thanks for the recipes and your time, you are great! To prevent your cutting boards to slide on the counter while you cut the food put a sheet of wet paper towel beneath it. You have a great number of followers here in Brazil.
Currently rewatching the intro because I skipped strait to chopping. I also wanted to be surprised with what you cooked as you cooked the recipes along. I’m so impressed with this whole video and how thorough you are. I was pleasantly shocked you don’t peel your ginger👍. Then you decided to use a box grater which I love! Let’s talk about how you are eating the stems!!! It’s my favorite part of the broccoli and I’m glad It didn’t go to waste. The enchilada quinoa sounds amazing. Loved it because you didn’t skimp on the onions! Now I’m glad how much time you took to emphasize the importance of toasting your spices because I see too many people just dumping them into liquids. You have amazing taste in chicken because you love thighs too. That curry recipe I know is amazing!! This video is a treasure among the sea of ‘easy meals’ with ingredients I have never used. I’m used to making things from scratch because that’s how I grew up. 👏👏👏👏🤝🤝🤝🤝
I am so glad I came across your channel! I just recently diagnosed with being pre-diabetic with extremely high triglyceride... I hope I can really keep going with a balanced healthy diet! I don't have a lot of fridge space so I can't make all these at the same time, but I'll definitely make that chicken curry!! Looks absolutely incredible!
Here's a little tip to save your knives. If you have to use it to slide chopped food off the chopping board turn the knife around and use the blunt end. Love the washable glass containers, so healthy as opposed to aluminium or plastic. If this only takes two hours imagine how much quicker a food processor would reduce the time by.
You could even buy pre-chopped veggies and save even more time! I normally use the back side of my knife (learned that when I was working in a kitchen), but may have forgotten in the video. I sometimes get nervous when copping on video LOL
Hooray!!! I found one more CANADIAN channel ! Thanks for being here. It makes such a big difference with the ingredients. I also love you're big on recycle/reusable/reusables !!
I'm so happy you found me! I try to make my recipes good for my US and Canadian readers, but YES...some ingredients are just not available in Canada. I so wish we had TJ's and Whole Foods here.
@@SweetPeasSaffron Hiya! I don't know where you live, but where I live in Richmond Hill, ON, there is a couple Whole Foods near me. I do find them expensive though. I try and buy organic when I can. Even cheaper stores like Walmart have *some* organics. Loblaw near me has lots, but I find them pricey as well. ** > I wanted to ask you what brand of silicone bags you get. I've been looking on Amazon and I see some with great reviews, others say they're hard to seal, or leak. And they have to be easy to clean for me to want them. Boy! If I could (almost) banish ziplock bags, I'd be happy.
This was my first time seeing one of your videos .... it was great .... very organized and efficient.... I will try these recipes .... thanx for sharing
Wonderful to have some healthy, easy, freezable lunch recipes. I hate cold lunches except for salads in the summer. I get so tired of top ramen or soup all winter long. Love your channel.
Thanks for this, I watch a lot of these instant pot videos, but I must say the addition of the shopping list was brilliant !! I loved it and I think its a great tool that creates a win win situation for both of us ;)
I am enjoying your videos. As an aside, I wanted to tell you that your have the cutest tshirts and blouses. You always look relaxed and casual, but never frumpy or lazy.
I made the chicken curry meal and added some more ingredients of my own and oh my goodness delicious ! Thanks for the meal ideas, you got yourself a new subscriber !
I've watched a lot of people do, or try to do what I saw you do. I'm just saying I subscribed to your channel and I liked and commented 💖. I love what you made and it's easy the way you showed me how to do it 😘
Hi, I’m new to meal prepping and this video is so useful. How long can these last in the freezer? And how do you prepare them to eat from the freezer? Keep making these videos!
New to cooking. I did the Pot Enchilada Quinoa Casserole and Curry chicken. It took forever because I am learning. I did it though! thanks for the help.
Kudos ! That is great work. These times are forcing us all to tap into our cooking skills. Being Indian I know how spices work and when + how to use them. Honestly your method works just fine in terms of the cooking philosophy and provides for great variety ! I especially like the adoption of Quinoa and Chicken + Veggies dish. We all need good nutritious food but also meat and sometimes all Veg recipe ! Great good luck moving forward.
Wow.. just found you.. we want to start eating better and I definitely am not the organized one. This will help so much. Thank you for your time.. hugs
I know alot of people use only the head of broccoli and throw the rest away. What I do is shred it and throw it in a salad and gives the salad a natural salty taste so you do not have to add dressing. You can do that with cauliflower as well.
Great idea! Such a shame people waste them. I cut them up, freeze them, and when I have enough (3-4) I make a super smooth broccoli soup out of them! Delicious! :)
Its easier when cutting cherry tomatoes ...on a flat place on bottom with tomatoes on it. you would take another flat plate , and place over the top ... Hold plate down take your knife and cut them in half.
Debbi Underwood you can very easily do all of these meals on the stove. You would literally just put all of the ingredients from the quinoa recipe in a pot and cook it. Also you should get an instant pot they’re amazing lol
I am a Jen subscriber that found you. Maybe you could collaborate that way Jen's subscribers can meet you. I don't have an instapot, but found that I can cook most recipes on other devices. I have cooked quinoa in my crockpot no problems. Obviously it just takes more time.
If you use your chopping knife to push/scrape things off your cutting board, flip it over, so the dull (non-cutting edge) is making contact with the board. Otherwise, in time, using the sharp edge to scrape against the cutting board will dull your knife.
sweet!!! I am very thankful that I found this because we work 3 late nights and I hate not having dinner ready. These will be our homemade microwave dinners. One question, do you cover the meals with plastic or wax paper to avoid ice? Thank you I did subscribe and hope to see more videos like this. T
Nice I hope these meals make your life easier! Nope I never cover with plastic, it’s something I try to avoid in general. I never notice a freezer taste if I eat within 3 months! After 3 months I do notice the taste starting to decline. Hope this helps!
I'm most interested in concepts. Why do you put the rice separate? Can you freeze pasta dishes? How would you store that (noodles together with the sauce)?
Hi! I put the rice separate out of habit, but I'm not sure it's necessary. You can freeze pasta dishes, though you'll want to cook the pasta to al dente as it can soften in the freezer. Avoid small shapes like orzo; larger shapes freeze great! You should be fine to freeze right in the sauce.
I like to thaw overnight in the fridge but sometimes I forget. It’s really going to depend on your meal prep containers, the snapware ones I’m using have a Pyrex base and are really durable. I have microwaved on low from frozen in a pinch but would rather thaw completely first 😊
@@SweetPeasSaffron Thanks for the answer! I guess letting it thaw is always the better way - I just tried it with a Taco Bowl dinner I had left and forgotten to get out in time. The containers were fine, but it took so much longer to get it hot! Even with the defrost function of my microwave.
Thank you. I will try a few of these. After learning I had a heart problem and having my sodium restricted I struggled. Looking for healthy meal options
I try to remember to thaw overnight but I usually forget. I do warm it from frozen in the microwave but only recommend this if you have really good quality meal prep containers (and leave the lids off). The ones I use have a Pyrex base.
Hi new subscriber here I am so glad to have found you we are pesceterian with a vegan daughter. I will just sub out the meat for lentils and fish. I have shared a few of your videos to all my busy mum friends as school starts next week.
Loved this video, so glad to find your channel. I make quinoa every week for lunch the same way in my Instant pot very similar recipe too. What kind of freezer do you use to store your cooked meals?
Hi, just subbed. I'm only 3.25mins into the video and I want to say thankyou. Thank you for using you entire brocolli, including the stalk. Gees it annoys me when people throw all the stalks away! So again thank you. Btw I'm from New Zealand. Kia ora. If you put a damp dish towel or paper towel under your cutting board it won't slip around as it was while you were cutting especially the chicken.
Cooking rice without an instant pot is not a problem, no matter how much you make. As a rule, I usually just fill enough water to fill the whole pot. There's no real need to measure the water, because you can use a sieve and drain it afterward. (Unlike with an instant pot.) Brilliant video btw. Do you have more like this? Especially things that are easy and quick to make, but can be made in bulk and frozen. (I'm surprisingly good at cooking, mainly thanks to Cooking for Geeks, which approaches it scientifically, but I also absolutely hate cooking. Ever. But it is by far both healthier and cheaper than the alternatives.)
Sorry Nathaneal your comment got caught in spam somehow! I have a stock up the freezer challenge video for lunches here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-53I38vXGJkw.html It does contain one of the same recipes, and only does 13 portions, but easy to double to make 26.
Question... do you thaw it first before heating it in the microwave? I love this idea but sort of skeptical cause I don't know how it will turn out. Specially the rice.. Will it be soggy after? Please help. I'm a working mom and this looks perfect. Thank you!
Gonna try the enchilada and Vietnamese ground beef! Curry is already a staple. My boyfriend and I are big eaters though, so I think I'll double the quantities and hope it's still manageable to stir :p or prep dessert... Gonna search on your channel for freezable cake rightaway 😁
Hi, i couldn't find the shopping list, and yes, i went to the blog, there is an image where says shopping list pintarle, but nothing else, there is not the shopping list
HI Catherine, that's right - let defrost completely in the fridge overnight, then reheat in the microwave until steaming hot! Directions for storage and reheating can be found on the blog post as well. :)
Sweet Lea Saffron with the Instant Pot Quinoa Enchilada Casserole recipe, any thoughts on swapping the black beans for green or red lentils? I can’t do beans because of gout. Thanks!
