Such a powerful track. Sean Callery never ceases to amaze me. Gonna winna an Emmy for sure. This track also played during the finale when Heller talked about his tragic fate.
You sir, are a life saver. Yesterday I had been looking all over the web and RU-vid for this, and you have been a significant role in helping me find this. Thank you so very much.
The closing credit parts of 24 during the last few seasons were absolutely gripping, I just finished seeing this again 5 minutes ago and it still hits you in the gut. Even though he doesn't actually die, its still a great 24 moment
Great music. Powerful scene and episode. But I'm pissed that Heller didn't actually die. They set it up like a major Chappelle episode that gave you the feeling that this is really going to happen, and 24 always goes through with things like that. There was no reason to believe otherwise here. Then we find out Heller wasn't even on the damn field when the missile hit. Very disappointing. This would have made an epic and shocking ending for Heller. A true sacrifice. It's not like 24 to not go through with something like that and I am shocked they didn't do it. It kind of ruins that whole episode now, knowing he didn't really die. I guess they still can't kill the president even though it felt like they worked around that by him turning in his resignation.
I think that's why it worked to be honest. 24 has always been about the unexpected and Heller surviving contradicted everything we knew about the show until then. It also lead to the far more unpredictable, tragic ending of an old man with Alzheimer's, unable to even mourn for his daughter.
I agree with Marcoolio, but I actually heard that TV can't show a president of the US being killed, I'm not sure if that's true, anyone care to confirm? I actually can't think of a TV show that did this. (24 did Palmer but he was no longer Pres. at the time, Nikita did it but it turned out not be the press. etc etc.)
slarz1108 Yes, they're not allowed to kill a sitting president. A very subtle part of this episode that made it seem like Heller was in fact going to die was that he told Jack about a letter of resignation effective by the end of the hour. As such, he wouldn't be a sitting president when he died.
Boy this was even more sad when Heller was talking about him having to relieve Audrey's death over and over again. Jack really can't catch a break can he........
