Thanks for watching, everyone! 🤗 These 24 things aren't really the only things I've stopped buying as a minimalist, there's a list that's a LOT longer than this for things I actually never (or very rarely) buy, but rather a list of certain items that I wanted to put some extra attention on for myself. This isn't meant to be a strict list that I absolutely have to stick to no matter what, but rather something to help me make intentional purchasing decisions in the year to come. :) Feel free to take inspiration from my list, to identify some things you also want to do a no-buy or low-buy for next year! Much love, Vera
Good list - I agree completely with AI assistants. I just got my first new laptop and smart phone so I can start prepping for my first business. The first thing I did was turn off the AI assistants. As for the aging stuff - you're already doing the best thing to help with aging - listening to your body and taking care of it. I'm almost 50, and the biggest regret I have re. my body is not listening to it when I was over stressed (the biggest factor I think to looking older). I am grateful I have always had a minimalist approach to skincare - very much less is more (incl. no cosmetic procedures). Keeping hydrated helps a lot too, esp. as I age. I would like to try more vegan meals, esp. since I'm trying to eat more veggies and fruits. I tried going vegan (for same reasons) when I was 15 but only lasted a few months. I did keep vegetarian for almost a year then too. I'm too much an omnivore foodie and crave fish/meat when I do try to go vegetarian. I know it's been decades for you, but do you have any suggestions to not have the cravings? I like vegan food, but struggle with eating lots of beans (for the protein which I need a good amount of). Sorry so long a response - thanks! - take care
I low-buy anyway so I don't have a list. In fact, sometimes I have to consciously force myself to buy something because I've been thinking about it for a long time, or I'm on vacation so I should splurge a bit, or I haven't bought anything for a long time so occasionally is OK.
about the robot vacuum, at first I bought one that bothered me 'cause I also thought it wasn't that smart and then I realized it was because it didn't had the technology I was looking for which was a good mapping system to make it really autonomous - it didn't knew where to go and where it already went so it just randomly walked all over the place, leaving dirt behind and going over some places over and over again with no need for that. I sold that model and invested in a new one, this time really smart 😅, and then it changed my life for good!
Oh, those four words, "aging is a gift," really struck me. I just turned 70 last week and I have to admit that this milestone loomed for me all year. I feel like I'm about 50, I've never gotten any anti-aging treatments, but I still struggled a bit with this one. I love those four words, they are so true and I'm going to keep them close at heart.
I'm 20 now, basically a young adult, i just wonder how do you see life, how many drastic changes have you seen in yourself? I've tons of questions. I guess we can't know ACTUALLY, until we reach there .
@@shreyabanerjee7078 I would say that one big thing that I am focusing on even now (being someone who usually goes a million miles an hour) is to simplify my life in order to have more time and energy to focus on the things that really matter. And maybe the other big thing is that you truly never stop needing to grapple with who you are and what is important in life. Things may quiet down for a while and then life brings you new opportunities and challenges and there you go again, time to reevaluate and make changes as needed. Maybe that helps keep one young?!
I applaud your decision to skip botox and fillers. For starters, you’re naturally beautiful and look flawless from this side of the camera! I also think there is such a stigma to aging. Aging is a natural process and there is nothing wrong with it. I’m 66 and I’d feel like a phony if I still looked 30. I try to take the best care of myself as I can, and I do use retinol and moisturizer. But that’s it. No needles or surgery for me. I’ve earned every line and wrinkle I have. I love the actors who embrace their natural faces, too. But, like you, to each her own. If you opt for medical procedures, you do you.
I really loved the point you made about being grateful for aging & celebrating the fact that we are privileged to age. It reminded me of one of Epicurus' sayings: 'It is not the young person who is most happy, but the old person who has lived beautifully; for despite being at his very peak the young person stumbles around as if he were of many minds, whereas the old person has settled into old age as if in a harbour, secure in his gratitude for the good things he was once unsure of'
Thank you for a lovely calm and kind channel 👌 Absolutely I'm for more vegan content! I'm ethically vegan for the animals because we need to be kind to all and I know it's for life, once you know... you really know and I couldn't personally unknow that 🌿 That the side effects are more awareness also on what's "not so simplistic", but infact a mess, is disturbing for the peace of mind. Being a minimalist myself I can't have a "mess"... on my plate and in my heart ♥ Furthermore being vegan is very sustainable, much cheaper that people think and I like being mindful of where my money goes. I also love plants, they are so vibrant and plentiful. So minding the nature in my city, that is becoming smaller and smaller is getting harder. So taking a stand to reduce it is, at least, personally satisfying. Hope it helps though in my city, my country and the climate that involves and affects us all 😢 That it is healthy is not a bad side effect either 😅 So much more of the vegan stuff, can't get enough, it's inspiring and gives me hope in a sometimes very "cold" and rather selfish world where people is buying entitled meals that others had to "you know" not have the best time of life in order to end up, way to soon... as a hotdog or a burger that easily could have been plant-based! Like I said, a mess on a plate, which isn't mine 😅, of course... since I already am vegan 💚🌿🕊
I love shifting a low/no-buy challenge to a use-it-up challenge. This is probably not a new idea, but it's new to me, and I can think of several categories of items I could focus on using up this year. Thanks for your inspiration!
Just a tip on cleaning supplies, use cheap white vinegar to clean everything. I do not use anything else, and it makes life easy. I clean the kitchen, bathroom, windows, mirrors, floor and anything else that needs a moist clean...lol!
I love this video! It is so refreshing to hear a young person say they embrace aging. I am 62 and I have always felt the same way. I want to look my best, but I don’t want to look 25. I’ve earned any my wrinkles. I would absolutely enjoy a live Q and A about your vegan journey. I too am vegan. Thanks so much for sharing😊❤️
2024 will be my 30th jubilee of being "meatfree". I started as a vegetarian and gradually became a vegan. A video by you about veganism would be really nice. I am especially interested in how you deal with social events like visiting family, friends, etcetera.
I remember when I was young friends were telling me not to smile so much I would get wrinkles. I enjoy smiling and never listened to them. Of course now I am a senior and have nothing but laugh lines. I believe these lines add character. Wrinkles are the roadmap of your life. Everyone wants the fountain of youth. 🌍☮️🌲
Wow... Yes I see young people online also talking about how not to move your face muscles so much, so that you don't get wrinkles and smile lines. I LOVE smile lines on people because you like said, it's because they smile a lot and that's always beautiful and attractive :)
I love “visiting” with you over a cup of tea Vera ❤ I absolutely share your views on “smart tech”, aging gracefully and the rest. I find that those are shackles I don’t want in my life. I am more confident in who I am created to be without focusing on how I look on the outside but reflecting God on the inside. Your soul is a much better view of beauty 😊 I am embracing a no buy year and determined a budget that reflects using what I have and only replacing essentials. Now that I’m on disability I have opted to keep the few inexpensive streaming services I have and my grocery delivery service as that is essential in this season for me. Blessings ❤
I haven't eaten meat for over 22 years now so I always enjoy hearing about vegetarian meals. I also really like hearing about cruelty free clothes and beauty products as well! I agree with what you said about collagen etc., I have friends who are your age and they are very scared of aging so they get the injections, don't get me wrong I'm not enjoying some of the physical changes I'm starting to see on me lol but the idea of injections isn't appealing to me - absolutely no judgment to those who do it!
Thank's for this video ! Vegan since 7 years, the best thing I did for the animals, my health and the Earth. I will never look back. I would be interested in your vegan-related information and thought.
Hey Vera, another wonderful video! Could you consider doing a video on animal free/cruelty free products? I am having a hard time finding really good make-up and skin products that work and aren't outrageously expensive!
Hi there! Glad you enjoyed the video! Actually, I've found that so many brands on both ends of the spectrum in terms of price, have vegan and cruelty-free products. Some of them may really surprise you. I don't know where you're based, and most products I use aren't really available in the US for example. But what I always do is just a quick google search. Is (insert brand) cruelty-free? Then don't use their own website for information, but use websites like crueltyfreekitty that really know their stuff. It's a quick search that takes 1 minute, and I've been positively surprised so many times by now :)
I got into a buying mood, so here's what one minimalist buys: a colander 3-pack, small air purifier, reacher (a thing to pick up things without bending down), and an out-of-print book... all things I've been thinking about for a while, and the total was under $100. The colanders replace plastic and hand-me-down ones I didn't like, and they catch seeds as well as a juice squeezer does. The air purifier will hopefully help my dust allergies. The reacher is to cope with arthritis in my hips. The book is a little luxury, something from childhood. Next month I may get three more things if I think of any.
@@loguipigui9565 The air smells cleaner and I don't feel particles in my nose anymore. I stopped sneezing for the first few days, then I had an occasional sneeze once or twice a day for a few days, but now it's gone again. I identified that my roommate's deodorant spray and cologne were part of the problem, so I asked him to stop using those, and I bring it out to the main room in the morning and it cleans out those things within an hour. It's a $40 Leviot tabletop model for 250 square feet, with a 3-part filter, but no negative-particle ionizer (it's unclear whether ionizers help). Look for one that has enough capacity for your room size.
Thank you for this video, Vera. Yes, I would be interested in more vegan-related information and resources for food, clothing, and skin care/cosmetics. Enjoy autumn. :)
Great advice and yeah with the cost of living crisis I cut back on cleaning products I used a couple of spray bottles one with white vinegar and water and another with diluted bleach in and ive been using these for almost all cleaning needs. I dont think I will go back to dedicated Kitchen, bathroom, glass cleaner etc.same with moisturiser for different body parts I also think its just a marketing trick to make you buy more 👍
I buy Vaseline body lotion, and it works for hands and feet. I use a small plastic container to put some of this in. That container goes in my bag and works as a hand cream when needed.❤
- Flatpack furniture: No buy. You can repurpose wood from so many sources, or buy. If you have the tools, make furniture that lasts longer and smells better than their chipboard. Children painted the surface? No problem, as soon as it's dry outside sand it away (and get better coating). - Ordering beverages: Yes. Not having a car, just ordering once in four months or so the 100kg+ is more convenient. Plus, I have a variety in my basement to boost my mood. Delivery cost are relatively low on larger orders. - Plants: No buy. Exchange seeds and sapplings with friends. (I have jungle with grow-LEDs in what used to be a dark corner in my apt.) - Handsoap and hand-cremes: Replaced small purchases with wall-mounted dispensers (used = cheap) and 1l packs. Less waste, too. (Without perfume were better for the skin.) - Shower soap: No. A fancy one maybe once a quarter. Though since learning from a dermatologist soap-free mixtures a good enough and better for dry skin, the products from Edeka are good and enough. - Kitchen machine: Yes. Rather, sliced and diced groceries: No longer. Since it became more convenient, I cook more. - Generally, since buying quality products whenever it's no consumable I saved quite some money over the years and do no longer buy all that much.
I'm not buying brown rice and other healthy foods I don't enjoy that much. No shade to anyone who loves brown rice, and while I don't hate it, I don't like it as much as white rice, so I'm going back to the rice that makes me happy. I eat pretty healthy most of the time and the nutrition tradeoff for something I don't love isn't worth it.
I don't decorate for holidays either. I used to, but as well as it was an expense I didn't need, it was not fun anymore. My small home felt cluttered. I just thought of an idea; fake plants are good for areas with little light or too much moisture like the bathroom. Another encouraging video - thanks, Vera. ❤
I just had to buy a new purse. My old one was like 7 years old and I loved it, but it fell apart. I love the 31 brand but I needed a purse “today.” I hope it lasts. I wasn’t going to buy a new journal this coming year but I decided it’s something I look forward to, so I did get one. The rest of your list I totally agree with for me. I love your home in the videos. 😊
I agree on the alcohol and gym membership things, as well as the cookbooks! I do own a total of 8 cookbooks (one that I wrote), but they were mainly souvenirs from my overseas trips and not extremely specific, just cool mementos of the foods i ate and can replicate in the area that I bought the book, like my Australian cookbook!
For me, cooking books classic library books. You get specific books (muffins, winter salads, ...), try out one or two new recepies, if they are good, save the recepies and return the book.
I am getting rid of stuff I never use or is worn out. Thankfully, I don't consult my parents anymore or they would persuade me keep it. There are less than 5 pieces of clothing I don't wear that I decided to keep for sentimental reasons/future kids. Feels so good to have space for new items that I actually need
As someone who owns a medspa, it’s a misconception that Botox prevents wrinkles. It’s just less obvious a change to start Botox when you have less wrinkles present, than correcting the ones you have. But if you stop using Botox the wrinkles will come back. It’s like getting a haircut. If you always cut your hair, no one notices your short hair. But if you had long hair, and all of a sudden you cut it short, people will notice.
I am not going to buy coffee , or more health and beauty aids, no more perfume samples, no more clothes until I start wearing the clothes I have already, jewelry… That’s the goal - let’s pray 🙏
Thank you for this inspiring video! Stationary and pens are also on my no/low buy list. I purchased some notebooks and washi tapes this month, and they will last for some time, like all my pens. Furniture and home decor are also on my list, and I plan to declutter all our christmas stuff. Some thins are broken, or we do not like them anymore. And it is waaaaay too much. What I definitely will keep up is cash stuffing. I started this year doing it and it already safed me about 200 to 300 Euros per month. What you said about fitbits and smart fitness devices made me think about the one I owned some years ago. When it broke I did not replace it because I noticed that using these things started to stress me out and making me feel guilty about not moving enough or being "lazy". So, no fitbits for me ever again. WHat I will buy in the coming time is some clothing because I have gained weight and feel uncomfortable in some of my pieces, so I will replace them. I really want to lose weight, bit it will take time and I do not want to feel like haviing to squeeze myself in all my things and look like nothing really fits me. Yeah, so, snacks and junk food are also on our list.
I never would have thought you’re 35. You look amazing although 35 is still very young in my books. I think when you eat a clean diet, don’t drink….or very little and don’t smoke you age better. As for Botox and fillers, I’m happy to go without. Ageing is a gift that many don’t receive so a few wrinkles don’t bother me.
You are not alone with disliking smart things. I also don‘t own an alexa or smart light bulbs or whatever. I am 27 and a software developer and just know to well what is technically possible. Of course I dont want to spread anxiety or hate, everybody can use them if they want. Its just not for me
Around this time of year, my family always asks what I want for Christmas and as I get older/more minimalist, I am struggling to come up with ideas. I just don't want/need more "stuff." (I do ask for gift cards for groceries, gas, massages, video games, stores where I buy clothes, etc. but they usually want to buy me at least one or two physical items.) I know you have mentioned in previous videos that you don't exchange gifts with your partner, but I'm curious how have you handled gift-giving with your non-minimalist friends and family? Not sure if there is enough for a video on this topic but would definitely watch one if you make one!
You could ask for clothes, a piece of small furniture, a small appliance that you need. I do that but I'm concient I have to wait until may to receive that thing I need.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on botox/injections. I have also been considering, and a lot of it is because it seems like everyone is doing it and its really refreshing to hear that everyone is NOT doing it. Seeing women like you as a role model speaking about this is really great!
BAM! You pretty much mentioned everything that I also won't be buying or haven't bought in so long. There is so much I think as I am getting older that I don't need , I would rather spend my money on experiences . I live a pretty simple life , (well at least according to my standards!). I also cancelled my gym membership about 4 or 5 months ago, I do work outs or stretches at home and all my other exercising consists of walking and or hiking in parks (nature is the best place to get a workout)! I went through my make up stage way back in my teen age years, it didn't last long. I haven't used any make up since than . I believe in natural beauty so why hide it with make up. I do use hand lotion for my hands but that is about it. I am also trying to cut down on technology things or use, still a work in progress. I loved when you spoke about again , like not using or getting botox etc. you are right, let's age gracefully and let's see how we look as we age with out all that stuff , I am age 58, I do have some wrinkles, I'm totally OK with that, and a lot of other things that come with aging, all personal so I'll leave it at that, so it's about accepting that we do age , and you know, as we age , we have more wisdom, we have so many scars to show what life has brought us (surgeries for one , for those women who have given birth and so much more that changes our bodies) , we got through it all , IT'S all GOOD , it's the natural process of life! I am still beautiful inside and out regardless of my scars, wrinkles etc.! Let's be an example for the younger women ! Awesome video! I also just moved a month ago, I did buy a few new things , nothing big or expensive but as far as furniture , what I have is more than enough , I don't need more , I hope to be able to down size more though in future . Amazing video, absolutely my cup of tea to have listened to for today!!!
Agreed on all❤ Especially the smart listening devices...those things creep me out 😅 Glass ware is a weakness of mine too 😅 I'm in my 50s, and have also decided no plastic surgery, or fillers 🎉 This is my natural face, and I'm proud of who she is ❤ that's more important than looks anyway ❤ Yes to the veganism content too ❤ I'm not vegan, but definitely eat as plant based as I can ❤ Recipes would be Awesome 🎉
❤ this list! I'm with you strongly about cruelty free/vegan products, holiday decor and embracing aging. On another note, I used to have a gym membership but I'm have transportation issues so I had to stop going. If that changes I will probably go again. With my employment schedule and trying to use public transit it just would not work currently. It would be too crowded during the times I could squeeze in a session and that defeats the purpose of going. Also, I would love for you to share more on your journey into veganism. Veganism is what led me to minimalist, fair trade and eco-centric ways of living.
I was so sad to hear you’re unhappy with your robot vacuum. 🥺 I am in love with mine. But I think you’re right it does depend on your expectations and what you need it for. I have a lot of hairy pets so this vacuum saves me.
I love the idea of use-it-up challenges and think I will do the same on my cleaning supplies. We also have no creepy listening devices in our home. Our phones are bad enough! I'm challenging myself in 2024 to only buy second hand clothing unless there is something specific I want for a bday or other holiday. Thank you for the fabulous anti-haul video.❤
This is such good timing, I had to stop the video and get a notepad to start my list. Prepared food Unhealthy snacks Cookbooks (I have way too many) Home & holiday decor Purses (decluttering what I have) Fabric & sewing supplies (decluttering and using what I have) Then I started my what to buy list. Furniture (while I haven't moved, I am repurposing a couple of rooms in my house and need different items) Garden supplies & tools Window treatments (replacements) Travel & travel clothes Meeting friends at cafés Mental Health care I'm sure I will add to my lists before the end of the year. Thank you for the inspiration.
I love you and I love this list! What a great list! Very inspiring and Yes to being Vegan and yes, a video about being Vegan! There are 3 things that I’ve decided NOT to buy next year. 1. is anything black. Clothes, furniture, decor etc.. I’ve been removing my current items that are black bit by bit this month and loving the lightness it immediately brings to me, my wardrobe and the space. No. 2. I’m also not buying plastic plants. I actually donated all my artificial pot plants (6) yesterday and replaced them with real ones. My home feels more alive again! No. 3. Skin care and makeup that is full of bad chemicals. I’m swapping to only the best natural products and simplifying my whole beauty routine like you! ❤️ Thank you so very much for just being you, and inspiring us all to live our best lives! 👏👏👏
I really liked your take on Botox and fillers, and your positive attitude about aging. I’d be interested in seeing more videos about aging in the future. And I love that you think deeply about the way you live your life. Thank you for sharing those thoughts with us!
Thanks for your list. I go along with the first 23 but I used to be a vegetarian for a long time and started to eat meat again about 12 years ago. This happened because I got Crohn disease and my bowls don’t react good on vegetables any more unfortunately. For me there is at least 1 more thing and that are candles. I just love to buy all kind of them but I do have so many that I just have to finish them first. There is a whole grocery crate full of candles in my cupboard 😂. There is also 1 thing I want to spend more money on and that is flowers. I just love flowers but hardly ever buy them and I want to change that.
I'm not entirely sure what next year will bring but I do know I want to use things up and do the 1 in 1+ out rule. Containers, most decor and junk food will likely be on my list.
I really liked your list and I share most of them. I think you play a very important role to bring these topics to our reflection. I would like to suggest if you could do a specific video about tea and how to prepare them. All the best!
Aw thank you so much, I appreciate that! About the tea, I'd love to make a video about it some time, but I don't know if it would be an interesting topic for many people... I'll think about it :)
I'm so happy I found you, finally the algorithm brought me to someone local! I have been watching videos on minimalism and simple living on and off for years and just started a no/low buy year myself. I'm very excited to follow your journey!
Hi..just discovered your chanel. So far I watched a couple of videos about HSP and it literally feels like y're talking about me! ..I love your list in this video ,all of it, but especially no.24....i.ve been vegetarian, mostly vegan for the last 25yrs or so and I would love to hear about your journey.....and btw, there,s something unique about the way you explain things. Many Thanks for the information you are kindly sharing with us xx.
Hi Vera ❤ I always enjoy your video contents. I’m almost 65 & even though I have wrinkles I would never inject my face or lips - I’m too terrified if something will go wrong & I look worse 😳 I too embrace my age so kudos to you for being honest. I have stopped my magazine subscription & don’t plan on renewing. You are looking so pretty with your hair & makeup ❤ have a lovely weekend 😘
I keep thinking about getting a robot vacuum here and there because I feel like I'm always vacuuming... you really do have to vacuum every single day with birds around. But at the same time I feel like the robot vacuum isn't going to do a good enough job. So... one benefit to doing the vacuuming yourself is knowing that it will get done right; the way you like it.
While I am not wholly vegan (yet), I have switched to eating whole food plant-based for my health (reversed 3 chronic illnesses by doing so!) and I do try to keep my personal products cruelty-free. I don't think my vanity needs to be propped up by animal torture. I would love a vegan lifestyle video. Great no-buy list! I just created one of my own. I realized that by sticking to it, I will save so much money this year!
Hi Vera!! Great video as usual😊. Just wanted to say that I got to start my gym membership on my birthday (21st) and the gym is really nearby, and the facilities are quite good. I find that ironically, I find working on a gym program is very motivating for me and working out with weights and all. I think it's a guy thing and enjoying it so far! Other than that, I 100% agree with you on the other no-buys for next year! Keep blessed and look forward to your next video!!
Awesome! Yes I can totally understand how that would be motivating, and that's exactly the reason why I did consider going to a gym. I just think I would probably not really go that often. Have a great weekend!
@@SimpleHappyZen , I agree it's important to be able to go on a regular basis otherwise it's not worth the membership. I am really siked about it and God willing will keep going for at least next year! Be blessed and have a great weekend as well!
Hello from Madison, Wisconsin, in the US. I found your channel through minimalism and I was so happy to hear that you are also vegan-what a bonus! Yes I would welcome any vegan content you wish to put out. 💚🌱
I am so 70. Aging is not kind to your feet. I jokingly have called my feet “grandma” feet for better than a decade. So, in addition to my personal care, a regular pedicure keeps my feet and toes comfy.
Oh Vera, you are absolutely gorgeous inside and out! I resonate with ALL of these (except for pens and notebooks, as I write a lot, and easily go through a pen every month, plus I decluttered my notebook stash a while ago and gave loads of them away, so I may need a new one soon...)! I love your depth and your soulful approach to life. ❤🙏💜 P.S. also I'm not vegan (just vegetarian), but I do admire your ethics to remain cruelty-free.
Thanks for sharing Julie! 🤗 I think I probably should've clarified in the video that I do really enjoy holiday decor in other people's homes hahaha. Definitely decorate if that makes you happy :) Enjoy!
I read 'This is Vegan Propaganda' a few months ago & since then have begun my journey as a vegetarian. Would LOVE to know your tips as I move towards this lifestyle 💙
I suggest you learn a bit of nutritional facts. You don't need to completely master it, but learn where you can get protein from and have an estimation of how much you need to be healthy. The same for other things like type of vitamins. I remember the first time I tried to be vegetarian I had to stop after a few months because my body couldn't handle it. I was the stereotype of "I was vegetarian for X days and I got sick". The second time I had learned why my diet had been so shitty (for example, you can't go using eggs and cheese to replace all the meat you had before, etc.) and did better, didn't need a third try and have been vegan for 6 years now!
I support you in embracing growing older. I too respect everyone’s decision. For whatever reason. At 60 years old now, I have 60 years of experience and wisdom. I actually don’t want to change that. I also do not want to fall into the space of what I feel society expects of me and how to look at 60. I’m happy with where I am. Love your videos, my dear.
Dear Vera your video are always so inspiring! Do not worry you are not the only one not having Alexa or Siri, I really do not like these things. Technology is great for people who have problems and need a domotic house, but for the majority one is just laziness. I find also creepy to have at home a device always listening to us. I am going to do a low buy year so thanks for tips and ideas for it😊
Your natural approach to health, beauty and life is Fabulous❣️ A video on vegetarianism and veganism from your experiences would be very interesting. I was wondering about Vitamin B-12 and Complex in your routine. Thanks! ✨️
Hey Vera! New subscriber from Iowa in the USA-loving your content! My boyfriend’s daughter is also in her 30’s and Vegan. I want to be mindful of what this means for her, and so food suggestions for when she comes over, would be a huge help! I’m really starting to appreciate this minimalist mindset for myself. Thank you so much!!😊
I agree with you as far as aging naturally. I don't have problems with anyone else doing whatever, coloring hair, Botox, etc just not for me. I also think that women are sometimes pressured into these things because there is some idea that there is a standard to meet. I don't believe that and if people try to pressure me to believe that then they obviously don't fit with my own values for myself. It's all about being secure in yourself. You do you! 😊
I am renewing my gym membership but just for my aqua gym classes that i discovered in 2023 and love and do 4x weekly .. but the other things on ur list are very similar to mine, except i m not vegan .. 🌻
Yes I'd like more on becoming vegetarian and vegan. I was for many years then something happened. I don't know what but if went back to eating everything. I know I felt so much better eating vegetarian and when I was vegan I felt a lot better. I'd like to get back to not eating any meat products and feeling better/healthy. Thank you.
There's one thing I have no intentions to stop buying: books. They give me so much joy. BUT for this year I have a rule: I'll only buy books in an edition I 100% love. I want to be sure I'll love having them around in the long run. If there aren't any fantastic editions available then I'll just rent them from the library. For alcohol I've been working as a bartender and I love having options to mix drinks for me and my friends... But it's not worth the hassle anymore. I kept three bottles of stuff I love (high quality gin, absinthe and a bottle of jegermeister) and I won't buy more until I finish them. I also love beer, but I can have one now and then when I go to the pub.
I liked your video and your zen vibe. Thank you for this Video. I am not vegan nor minimalist but I’ve started to try and be more mindful of my habits and I loved this content. I will think about my list.
Great choices! The only one I can't take is cancelling gym membership. My local gym has several locations, a great pool and sauna on site, as well as dynamic Zumba and wonderful yoga classes. All, except yoga, I can't do at home. I am taking your 20-week course and today opted out from buying a tempting hair mask at the Shoppers Drugmart made of 100% coconut oil. I came home and made my own, using a beautiful tin I always had and oil from the fridge. You are so motivating! But, not just that - you give a good guidance and structure. Motivations does not last, but good systems do. I am so happy I found your channel.
I have orderbedrag my groceries online and it didn't made me happy. My groceries were often packed in a way it didn't got the care it needed and it missed the TLC I add when I do my grocerie shopping. I make my own facial crème with Comfrey which grows everywhere. Its great for multiple purpose. Anti wrinkles, good for dry hands and feet, heals wounds etc.
I decluttered my holiday decorations this year. It was a good decision for hubby and I. I feel better about not having to clean around the decorations when they're out and not having to store them away afterwards. ❤
Great video😊 Tbh I agree with you that aging is a gift, I’ve seen a lot of death in my career as a Nurse, and somehow if a person has led a full happy life and is blessed with a peaceful death it’s sad obviously, but they’ve had a full life, however the other side of the coin is seeing children or young adults lose their lives and this is tragic on so many levels. Therefore I am always grateful to reach an older age, to do my best to be healthy and enjoy the gift of life. Yes I would be interested in some more videos re vegan There are some great tips in this video thank you Vera 😊❤
I just love your home! ❤️ These were all things I’m not buying as well, for pretty much the same reasons as you mentioned. So, thank you for the validation.😊☀️
I walk to get my groceries too. The supermarket is about a kilometre away. So it's about a 1.5 hour round trip. Twice a week. I only order if I'm sick or the weather is really bad.
I'm with you on the fitbit. Learning to listen to your body is a slow process and having a thing tell me how to do it would stress me out so much. Plus, my body sometimes doesn't work like it said in the included instructions ;) Sometimes I'll spend the day recharging in my reading chair, taking almost no steps at all, and that's one of my most valued practices.
Love these ideas. I am looking for ways to cut back on things in the new year and to save money, and these are all good ideas to consider. Stationary and office supplies are a big one for me. lol, I love this stuff! I want to be more intentional about the things that I bring into my home and the things that I put in and on my body. These will be big challenges for me, but I am ready to take it on.
In a gay male and I was so happy when you said no to Botox. We need to start normalizing aging. It’s a natural thing for men and women and we should feel guilty or feel ugly with lines. We need to start embracing and accepting ourselves when it comes to aging. I love seeing women with no make up or with less makeup. I wish society would stop shaming women when it comes to aging.
Great list! I laughed when you said "no cookbooks" because that has been my thing for quite a while...until today LOL! However, the cookbook I bought is for a very specific type of thing and I think I will get a lot of use from it. Plus I bought it used!
Hi. I'm vegetarian for 36 years now and would be interested in a video about veganism. Also your hair looks so beautiful in this video. Can you let me know what products you used as i also have wavy curly hair? Many thanks 😊
I loved seeing the photo of you at 15! The black nails! You were and are so beautiful! We don't have "smart" devices in our home, either. We use Samsung phones so I think Google is listening all the time but why bring in a specific piece that people could listen in on? Just odd. I really liked your ideas and resonate with so many...some I was already practicing because they were just exploding: stationary and pens, holiday decor, etc. Great video, thank you for sharing.
Beautifully stated about aging and keeping up with trends to make us look young. I too am Not doing any of those things but I do want to keep and feel young and vibrant. I want to spend my time on things that are meaningful to me and my family. Not having to have all those appointments free my time and mental space for more important things in my life.
I will never have alexa or the like, right now we are eating the freezer and the pantry, I probably got enough stuff to last us 3 months, I am purging the house on food, cleaner, beauty products. I am going to be more critical as what I choose to come into the house. I will not buy shoes or bags or jewellery. definitively no candles until the ones we got are used up (it will take at least 2 years, maybe 3). no shower gel as I really have an addiction and got an insane amount, I am talking around 40 litres, I know madness, even for 4 adults in the house. this year we use up what we got before buying a replacement. the money that we save is going to go for a dashund puppy for my husband, he has been wanting one for years so I want to surprise him at christmas. I am new here I thought you were early 20, skip the botox you look fantastic x
i love the idea of use it up challenge 👍🏻 a lot of times i find myself buying stuff just because they are on sale and i don’t actually need it now! so i think i’ll take into this challenge in 2024! i’ll try to get my inventory to zero before any purchases
