I took Lin’s side during that whole show down when she was a young officer and her sister was a criminal. Lin did her job and I hate how Toph chewed Lin out when she really should have reserved her anger/irritation strictly for Suyin. Toph let Suyin run wild and commit crime. It was up to Lin to stop her and Toph reprimanded Lin for doing what Toph herself should have done.

Btw who ever said that “meelo is better comic relief then sokka and momo” you are an infant. Meelo’s comic relief comes from farts = funny, while sokka’s jokes come from the situation that he is present in and then executes his joke. Also momo’s comic relief comes from him being a animal and a thief and the strange Situations that he gets put in.

@theaviator1152

I think he meant that as in “Sokka is even worse than Meelo” because most of his jokes are still quite immature and slightly offensive, plus his voice is pretty spazzy and annoying too. Like in the middle of the climactic, serious battle between Aang and Ozai, he goes, *“gO aAnG!1! AiRbEndInG sLiCe!1!1!”* I must admit he isn’t *as much* of a necessary character in ATLA as the rest (in terms of plot he still is pretty requisite) but he isn’t a terrible character. I do still think it’s better than him not being there at all, but I think he could have been written to grow up slightly more noticeably.

Unpopular opinion... apparently: people grossly misunderstand Toph, and her feelings towards authority. I bring this up because I continually see that claim, and I actually read an article claiming LoK ruined her for making her a police chief. Her beef was never towards authority in and of itself. Her beef was towards the classist ruling elite and their belief that authority is inherent, absolute, above reproach and beyond questioning. Being told things had to be done because "that's just how things are done" are what she has a problem with. She even outright admitted that she enjoys bossing people around when she opened her school.

@Ellie Fuller Why I think Kuvira is the greatest avatar villian ever, altough she came after Zaheer who is in definite contention is simply because, she is a reflection of Korra, albeit a better one, she's is doing the things that the avatar is supposed to be doing, but Korra was too broken to do as she in itself was exactly the thing all the villians throughout the series wanted to stop. The non democratic, authoritarian, super power, who is revered as well as feared. Kuvira is fighting for democracy, a non monarchy world where rulers are no chosen by birthright. Yet once again she takes it to far, like all villains in Korra do, and then gains this sense of hypocrisy. At first you understand why the villains are doing this things, Amon, equality for all, Unalaq, freedom to the spirits, Zaheer, no monarchies and super powers, Kuvira, democracy. So you understand them and kind of support them, then they take it to far.

It never bothered me that Korra lost her connection to the Avatars. I actually respect the writing staff for taking a risk like that. That gave the fight stakes and lasting consequences. Also it makes sense with the show's thesis of progression. In the ATLA finale and especially in the comics the past avatars could no longer give Aang meaningful advice because the world has progressed beyond their knowledge and their wisdom is antiquated. Future avatars would be hindered by the past avatars.

Mako really doesn't get the credit he deserved. Most people say his only character trait is being a love interest and it really isn't. Mako's very smart and brave and cares deeply for his friends and family. In book 1, while being bloodbent by Amon he realized that he could still move his hand and use lightening, incapacitating Amon even briefly. In book 2, he was the only one who realized that Varrick was the mastermind behind the "northern water tribe" attacks in Republic City. If he hadn't figured it out, Varrick's plan most likely would've succeeded. In book 3, he defeated Ming Hua because he knew that electrocuting the water would take her out. In book 4, he single-handedly brought down Kuvira's mecha giant, knowing that he could die because of it. Yes, he's the least developed member of team avatar, but he's so much more than just a brooding love interest

My beef with LOK is its story it's characters are honestly kind of dull like you can see how good they could have been if the writers put a little more time in to fleshing them out... but they kind of just mistreated most of their characters except tenzin which honestly he's one of the few things I like about LOK. He's the only character with a proper arc
@ellemars1817
@ellemars1817 3 года назад
Yeah. Honestly, things like the love triangle might not have even been that bad if they delved more into what it meant to the characters. Why does Mako have trouble with relationships? Because of his past. Then we can grow to understand him more and think of him as less like just a jerk. Bolin gets a lot of amazing stuff on the show, but I feel like among the 4, he grows emotionally the least. Asami had a really interesting arc, but that was either used to further the plot (like in Book 2) or hastily crammed into Book 4. I feel like with better character development, LoK could have been SUCH a better show.

I think people hate on Su too much. Yes she did bad things and ran with a bad crowd in her youth but so did other characters like Kai who stole things from others and Mako and Bolin who once worked with the triple threats. Both Lin and Su grew up with Toph as a mother who wanted them to be free due to not feeling she had enough freedom as a child which affected BOTH kids and it’s one thing for Lin to not wanna be on good terms with Su but she had no right to take it out on Su’s daughter and Su and Toph did work things out. As for Su not helping the earth kingdom when it was in anarchy she actually made a good point in that marching in and taking over it wouldn’t automatically solve all the rioting and chaos. After all the people of the earth kingdom were previously ruled by a selfish queen who took air benders against their will for her own agendas so the people of the earth kingdom likely wouldn’t automatically accept someone coming in and trying to tell them what to do.

@Grace Fu I'd have to agree, she was a selfish and very harmful hypocrite with very likeable exterior and personality, which as some have coined it; "making her morally grey". Aside for Toph, she really contributed a lot to the fracturing of their family and it was one of the biggest things that kept me grinding my teeth at the show because of how they seemingly reward and openly apologise for abusive and terrible characters, while lambasting cartoonishly traumatised and abused ones like Lin. I guess it makes sense for Korra to side with Suyin like that, they're both abusive pricks that never got their comeuppance from the people who come from a genuine place, both being horribly abusive to people they are closest to.

She sits high on her own horse, but she's definitely changed for the better and she did try to reach out to make amends. Lin didn't want any of that and that isn't Su's fault. I didn't think Korra did it on purpose, but it's still silly that it happened, for me. (Purely from a writing perspective) before 'Beginnings' the Avatar state was summoning the collective power and wisdom of past Avatars, however Rava still lives in her anyway (I guess). I know this is a bit pick, but the point is, she's able to still break the power sealing and do all this crazy stuff despite having her power source disconnected. True. Hello Future Me did an excellent video explaining it that actually helped me a lot. But the thing is, when he says Beginnings fixed "loopholes", well... it's a soft magic system so hard core rules are better left out not just because it's easier but it allows creative freedom. And from a non nerdy writer perspective, it just allows the world to be mysterious and seem broader b'coz of things that are unknown. But that's just my opinion. It's not that big of a deal.

@@Trans_SovietBee disagree. Harry Potter universe managed to do just that without explaining the origins of the magic. beginnings overwrote the lore, in my opinion. But not a single lionturtle was shown there. In beginnings they could have shown Oma and Shu, but instead they retconned the story and showed people receiving bending from lionturtles. One thing that people never consider about Beginnings and the Lion Turtles giving the bending is that it references the Last Airbender. When Aang learns to energybend, it is what the Lion Turtles do to give and take bending. The Lion Turtle shows Aang how to take bending away, and he does it in the same way they do it, modified for humans. I hope that makes sense. Edit: The main purpose of this comment was just to be my thoughts on the concept of Lion Turtles being the source of bending, with the Dragons, Sky bison, Badgermoles, and Moon being the teachers. Just a part of the bigger picture. This wasn't about Beginnings as a whole, though if you want that, then read Lore Goblin's comment and watch Hello Future Me's "Beginnings: An Overdue Critique"

okay, so, here's my issue with the way the spirit world was treated throughout the whole of the Legend of Korra: mysticism and aesthetic. beginnings didn't ruin the lore in the sense that it added information that made things make less sense... it weakened the mysticism of the lore by over explaining things that we didn't need to know. I do not need Koh the face stealer's life story. I only need to see Koh the face stealer for one tense scene. and I will pick up on the idea that, in a mythic sense, this is an ancient thing that has seen eons pass... something primordial and strange. or like, in the video, the comment that mentions beginnings talks about questions raised by the legends of early benders learning bending from nature... stuff like "could Tui and La teach Sokka to waterbend" or whatever. but that is taking things way too literally. these are fables. folk tales. they tell of something from a long, long time ago. it's something where the people of the modern day passed it down, but they don't really know if it's true or not... like how I, as a modern person, relate to the myth of Promethius stealing fire from the gods to give to mankind. sometimes you have to let some of your story rest on the things that we know for sure, and sometimes you have to let some of your story rest on the spaces between. sometimes the things that a viewer's mind will wander to in the absence of concrete answers is better than what could be described in explicit detail. and beyond that is the aesthetic of the spirit world. which my heart is completely divided about, because ultimately, I think that the visual style of beginnings is very beautiful to look at. but it is simply the wrong choice for what they're trying to depict, in the same way that this story beat is the wrong choice for the kind of mystical, folkloric role that spirits are supposed to play in the Avatar series. older ATLA spirits borrowed a lot from the feel that I get off of yokai... they seem at once to be eerily physical beings... moreso than ghosts. they're almost like fae folk... kind of with their own sense of morals or priorities, and they don't prioritize letting humans in on what their morals or priorities even are. in some ways, they're unfathomable. and they're very naturalistic... the things they don't communicate kind of read the same way as when you stumble upon a wild animal in the woods. it's intelligent, though you don't necessarily know what it is thinking, or what it might do, and your own level of comfort or safety is not necessarily it's concern. to get a little more specific in my complaining: the aesthetic of the spirit world is too bright and saturated in LoK. everything is candy colored, and a lot of the spirits are basically just pokemon. and in regards to Rava and Vatu... I get what is being said about balance in this video. he's saying that it's not as though "balance" means needing equal amounts of good and bad, thus necessitating a certain amount of bad in the world to balance good in a very literal way... rather, it's more of a yin and yang, push and pull sort of thing. but Rava and Vatu are still very explicitly coded as good vs. evil, which I'm not a fan of. that feels so... western values of them? true yin and yang doesn't code traits as good or evil... just in opposition. for example, truth vs. ideals could be seen as opposing concepts with effective uses and things to watch out for. if you have too much truth, you start to become critical, cynical, possibly even paranoid in your skepticism. but if you become too idealistic, you can become delusional, disingenuous, or even complacent about reality in favor of a narrative you've let yourself believe in instead. that said, truth keeps you sharp, and grounded in reality, while ideals keep you hoping for better things, even if stuff seems bad in the moment. this is a true push and pull between opposite concepts. neither one is good or evil. and you can see how a person would benefit from keeping a balance between the two, and not letting one or the other take over their mindset in full. obviously that's only one example, but you can see how this idea of yin and yang as equal and opposing forces could permeate other areas of thought and action, to create an all encompassing ideology. to me, Tui and La already showed this very well. of the two, neither one was coded as bad or good... they simply revolved around each other in a kind of symbiosis. each needed the other in order to define themselves, like the physical phenomenon of shadows in relation to light. this could never have been how anyone would see Rava and Vatu based on their visual presentation... they are very much presented as good and bad. they are literally black and white. and while Tui and La were black and white as well, they each had a bit of the other's color on them. basically, the visual style of beginnings is too bright, literal, and explicit. everything loses its philosophical complexity because the show tells you the answers too much. you don't get to think on the concepts it brings to the table and come to your own conclusions. and it isn't cohesive with ATLA at all in terms of that. this is not to say that I didn't like anything about beginnings... and I think people should be happy watching it for the thing that it is. I'm not begrudging anyone their enjoyment. but what I've said here remains the way that I feel about how it slots into ATLA's lore.

Aang feeling insecure in his masculinity is an interesting opinion. I always thought that his anger (Aang-er) at being played by a woman was a remnant of the times this was written in; specifically, how boys and men are taught that being compared to a woman is the ultimate insult, so Aang’s reaction was meant to be relatable to the boys in the audience. I never got the sense that Aang was insecure in his masculinity, because a lot of his so-called ‘feminine’ traits (avoidance, lack of persistence, tactical approach, emphasis on speed and evasion over strength, emotional expression, and desire for peace) were characteristics of Airbender culture as a whole, not just Aang as an individual. In the episode “Bitter Work”, a lot of Toph’s criticisms of Aang’s Airbender mentality make sense; she’s an Earthbender who happens to be the polar opposite of Aang, and-as a well-written character-thinks her way is better than the alternatives. However, Aang doesn’t seem upset over how his traits cause others to perceive him. He learns to stand his ground out of necessity, but continues to utilize air more than the other elements. Aang develops as a result of learning earthbending, but only because it’s his duty as the Avatar, not because of personal insecurity or outside pressure. And I, for one, think that’s awesome.

I love this sensitivity sometimes confused with something feminine, I think from the point of view of the fire nation the fact that he is not aggressive makes him feminine, I would so much like the series to go deeper into this, I watched the batman yesterday and the Robert has a bit of this about not knowing how to talk about what he's feeling, but it's easy to understand why he has this sensitivity, usually very masculine men get bitter when they don't get what they want

And why would you say that she had so much to live up to as if she's the one writing, producing, and animating her story? lmao It all goes back to what Antoine was saying where fans blame Korra (when it was Unavaatu or precisely, the writers) as if it was her own conscious self deciding to take her past lives away from her.

My opinions on Aang being a bad father I like that he wasn’t a perfect parent. It makes sense that he had a difficult time being there for his kids because he was focused on his Avatar responsibilities. I can also understand that he could unintentionally spend more time with Tenzin his only air bending kid. I think the fact that he was so obvious about Tenzin being his favorite and the fact the he only took him on vacations that is hard to believe and it’s also hard to believe that Katara would have let that happen. Maybe the vacations they went on were trips to learn air bending but had fun along the way or something and that’s why Tenzin thinks they were vacations

Power dynamics can change, and in the end, their dynamic was equalized as she herself said he needed to treat her as an equal if he wanted her back in his life. But I also dont think the relationship was thought through in S2. It was probbaly halfway through S3 or at the start of 4 that they thought it would be a good angle. It was just a decision, as simple as that, and people would'nt care much if we got to see more of the gaang as adults, which can be fixed by making a short series anytime instead of some non-canon live action, which even the authors couldn't bear to be a part of.

Finally, more people bringing up the fact that losing the past lives isn't necessarily a bad thing, or more, the fact that their wisdom isn't necessarily all that useful. People act like they're so important, but if we look to the original series, Aang really did not use his past lives that much, he only spoke to Roku when it was relevant, and then called upon them for opinions on how to stop Ozai, and as was brought up in the video, none of the answers were what he wanted to hear. Also imo the past lives can only go so far, the older an avatar, the less relevant their wisdom could be, because their experiences and their world was likely much different than the current Avatar's. I really like that Shadow of Kyoshi addressed this too. "There's a thousand generations of past lives in the Avatar cycle. You could spend a thousand years talking to us, and you still wouldn't know how best to guide the world. This is what you must forgo, Kyoshi, the easy answers. you must give up your desire for someone to tell you your choices were correct in the world."
@meow-en4wk
@meow-en4wk 3 года назад
I think in Korra they definitely made the past lives seem less relevant. The avatar state was more like a slight boost which kind of upset me. I'm so glad you mentioned that "balance" isn't just light and dark 50/50, so many people misinterpret that! Destiny 2 deals with Light and Darkness a lot, and the lore has one of my favourite quotes on the subject: "I believe in balance. But to seek balance is not to seek equity. A sea half of water and half of poison is not in balance. A body half alive and half dead is not in balance. Given the choice to live in any world, any world at all... we would need a little darkness in it, I think, to keep the balance true. But not so much as we would need the light."

I completely agree with the comment about ATLA being more simple than LOK. imo, LOK was written for an older audience. I know when ATLA ran, I was still in elementary school, but when LOK premiered, I was in late middle school, and was a freshman in high school when it was finished. Just like when Pixar was doing sequels for some of their older franchises, the creators knew that their audience was getting older, and made a show for them.

I was way past the ATLA target market when it aired first, i became interested in ATLA when I watched the episode where the gaang discovered the air nomad genocide, i was like "cool, this is portrayed, i'm gonna watch this" , but then got bored because it feels like too childish for me because they were so laidback considering the responsibility so i stopped watching, then i watched the finale and felt underwhelm that there is no challenge at all, aang goes to avatar stated and that's it. When i watch TLOK, it was jarring at first, then i saw in Korra her urgency to always be on the forefront of the problem and try to solve it immediately, i think maybe it jived with my personality so i liked it more. Plus when i saw her rebel against tenzin, her father etc.. Man i saw myself in her. Aang is kinda boring really, compare to the explosiveness of kyoshi and korra.

@Bruce Wayne Immortal means you live forever, neither Aang nor any avatar for that matter is immortal. Aang lacks control over the AS this causes more harm than good, and staying in it for far too long has negative consequences especially since this is what led to Aangs demise at 66yrs old. Korra uses the avatar state the way it's supposed to be used in short controlled bursts, and she has Raava at her at full power, Korras foes are a lot smarter and more powerful as well. The dark spirit she faced was a lot stronger due to the amount of darkness in the world, the latter especially applies to Vaatu especially since he's the great spirit of chaos and darkness and thus draws power and strength from them and as a result his influence increases as well, Korra used the avatar state against him and she was winning despite the strength and power Vaatu had, she nearly sealed him away but her uncle pulled a sneak attack on her, in season 3 Korra was forced into the avatar state due to the mercury poison the Red Lotus used on her, and again despite this serious disadvantage she was winning against Zaheer, hell she had him running and she would've finished him had the mercury not taken effect, and in season 4 when Korra entered it in her first round against Kuvira she was winning, but her PTSD got ahead of her Almost everytime Korra went into the AS for combat purposes there was always something outside of her control that prevented her victory.

I personally think the reason why LOK doesn’t hold up to/isn’t received well as ATLA is mainly cuz the bad aspects of the show outshine the good parts. ATLA has flaws but you barely noticed bcuz it had a compelling and cohesive story w/ strong character arcs and development. ATLA ended in 2008 and it’s still to this day memorable. I just finished watching LOK on Netflix and I barely remembered what happened. By all means LOK isn’t a bad show, it’s great in some aspects but just gets overshadowed by the bad.

imo what makes lok not so good is the fact that there were too many characters, too much story and too little time to actually feel something for them. Relationships seemed to end as fast as they started and characters developed too fast or not at all. ATLA was so good because it was a slow burner with a relatively small main cast, I mean I don't even know who the main characters in LOK are, Korra, Asami, Bolin, and Mako? But then there are so many other characters who take the spotlight so often that it's hard to tell. It just seems disorganized at times, still a good show but it has a lot of issues.

7:10 You know what I can agree with that for sure. We can’t expect Aang to be an amazing parent when he has barely seen any evidence that they exist, and any idea about parenting that he did have would have been over 110 years old from a culture that discouraged personal connections to parents (Air Nomads). LoK also shows that the stress that Tenzin had about passing on airbending was put on by Tenzin himself and not Aang, as shown in the Fog of Lost Souls scene. It was Aang himself (or a vision of him) who urged Tenzin to stop emulating somebody else's life, in favor of shaping his own. I still doubt that the writers of LoK actually thought of all that (if they did, good on them!). It’s probably us trying to come up with an explanation to why Aang isn’t as perfect and charming as in ATLA. Either way, now I realize LoK is forgivable. But I still have a problem with that way the comics shredded Kataang apart. They made Katara act extremely jealous (which had already happened a tiny bit and been resolved in Season 3 of ATLA so one would think it shouldn’t happen again) and made Aang seem a bit clueless or oblivious to that (which doesn’t make sense, after a year of her being the closest person to him he should really be emotionally in touch with her). Considering how caring and selfless Katara was in ATLA 95% of the time it really doesn’t fit her character, nor Aang’s (in fact, Aang was the one who was more forward and unreciprocated in early ATLA). Even the suggestion of, “oh, she lost her mom so she wants to ‘take care’ of Aang” or “she’s 16, it’s hormones and stuff” don’t really excuse that. Yes, there were hints at her being insecure in ATLA, but those sorts of character flaws were “fixed” by the end of the show as she discovered more about herself and Aang never held them against her. So it’s not just “I liked Kataang and am just angry it didn’t work,” it’s more of “it would have made more sense anyway for them to at least stay very close friends, rather than developing an extremely rocky relationship after adoring each other ever since they met.”

Aang’s bad parenting also results from the pressure of his duties as the avatar. As far as Aang was concerned, after he died, Tenzin would be the last air bender until he had children. And even if everything worked out where Tenzin had 4 airbending children, the next avatar still needs to learn airbending and it’s place in the balance of the world. It’s no different than Tenzin trying to teach the new airbenders in season 3 and each one having issues grasping a culture they weren’t raised in. There’s an entire culture that’s been wiped off the face of the world. It’s not just about bending the elements, it’s about learning the cultures and how they all balance each other. And regardless of how Aang feels, his duty as the avatar to ensure there’s at least one airbender alive with the culture’s knowledge, would be of a higher priority than whether or not he spends enough time with his children. And that would be something I could easily see weighing heavy on his conscience

07:13 what do you think happen if Tenzin only have 1 air ending children like Aang ? Would Tenzin do the same thing like Aang ? And then we will see him as bad father because the way Aang teach him like that ? Because I think I heard/read about avatar video/article where people have opinion that Tenzin Married with Pemma (Non-Bender) because it will multiply the possibilities to have a Airbending kid (Sorry for my english.still learning)

@channel-re5uq 3 года назад
I think the official reason was because Lin didnt want any kids (Family issues). And obviously Tenzin wanting to preserve his culture. So he picked Pema

@Menkir Dennis 1. Korra was both shocked and trying to defend herself when Vaatu popped out of Unalaqs mouth which is something NO ONE ANTICIPATED, not her fault. 2. That's the problem Tonraq was being too overprotective treating Korra as she were still a little girl when she was really around 18. Unalaq was Korras uncle and chief of the Northern Water Tribe and he was treating Korra the way she wanted to be treated. Add to the fact that Tonraq and Tenzin had lied to Korra her entire life as they were the ones who decided to keep Korra within that compound her entire life, and her dad had a rather shady past she'd just learned about. Neither of them gave Korra a valid reason why she shouldn't trust Unalaq, even when she gave them multiple chances at doing so, and while he was sketchy to us, the characters not being aware of that stuff is one of the most common if not the foundation of media from movies, comics, video games, novels and the like. Not to mention Unalaq did teach Korra plenty of useful stuff, and he was right about opening the spirit portals.

Amon should have been able to remove bending without touching his victim (He uses bloodbending which isn't some kind doesn't need physical contact) even the Avatar won't stand a chance against that (Assuming that going into Avatar State won't enable it again).

I feel as if , airbenders during the genocide weren’t all there at the temples and that they hid in ba sing se . It wouldn’t make sense to make airbenders after the battle between vatuu and korra . I feel like some airbenders were being told about the secret traps in the mountains so they were very smart not to go cuz when they went they usually were killed off . So I feel like after that fight it maybe unlocked their air chakra and with bumi , his dad was an airbender so that makes sense right ? This is just my theory I really hope you read this I love your channel

There was an Avatar games years ago and there was an airbender that told the Fire Nation about the temples and their locations, helping in the genocide. He survived (from what I remember, apparently not canon though) for helping the Fire Nation. Although I really can help but think that not all the airbenders just lived at the temples, I mean they were nomads! Here's my theory: Yes, the new airbenders have ancestry of airbenders. The airbenders weren't killed because they weren't at the temples and joined the Earth Kingdom for refuge. They lost their airbending abilities through generations because they're disconnected from their spirituality. (This happened to Kyoshi's mother, she abandoned her Air Nomad culture and her airbending was like blocked or something.) After Harmonic Convergence and the world being out of balance, balance was restored and new airbenders! Also, Ty Lee is a descendant of airbenders in my opinion. (There's a whole theory lol)

One of my favourite things about lok and atla is how they frame bending and disability. Toph and ming hua for instance, they are some of the strongest benders in the two series but both obviously disabled. Instead of framing them as lesser because of that, instead, they are framed as using their disability as advantages. Toph sees with her feet, ming hua creates multiple arms etc

The comment on Suyin just makes me think of Toph tbh. I love toph but she is pretty selfish, it was understandable in atla because she was still a kid and she was a sheltered rich kid but that part of her didnt change much in my opinion. Love suyin too not hate just stating my opinions.

Thats the point. Her bad parenting is a product of her bad childhood. Yeah she was sheltered but she had little to no freedom. So she made sure her kids had all the freedom they wanted. Is she wrong for that? Yes

If there was ever a show that would benefit from a remake, Legend of Korra would be it. There's a great story that just had a lot of production problems. Now that the whole story is there, all there is to do is straighten out the wrinkles and reproduce it to a new audience.

Unpopular Opinion: after watching both ATLA & LOK, I may have enjoyed Korra a little more. The show feels like a logical evolution from its predecessor, and the writing ensures everything connects as it should. It references the past just enough, and builds off it for interesting story arcs. Combine that with a great aesthetic/worldbuilding and some well-written characters... LOK > ATLA

I think the thing for Zhu Li is explained rather well actually. I had always wondered why she put up with Varrick and why she did the things she did. She explained that she admired him and his work. The agency she took in book 4 is proof of this. She was always free to leave or could have even played it straight and joined Kuvira. She believes in him and his vision, knows how she fits into his world, and understands his intentions and goals well enough to extrapolate what he needs in a situation. Varrick is the originator. But Zhu Li is the one with the discipline and capabilities to be the finisher. For him, he finds someone who can look past his oddities to find his actual intentions for a scenario. For her, she found someone who can solve a problems she also sees in the world in challenging and inventive ways

I wanted to see more of the Fire Lord aka *Zuko's daughter.* In fact, i would've liked to see the *Fire Nation* in general. That's the only kingdom that wasn't explored. I get that it was the focus point for most of *Aang's* story but it would've been nice to see how it was reconstructed by *Zuko.* himself
