@WillProwse If we wanted to install the 3kw 48v system in an RV, can you please recommend what panels to use, as the guide says do not use 400 watt panels on an RV, so what panels would you recommend then?

That one needs to be built on a furniture dolly or a forklift pallet. These are all incredibly useful for farmers and homesteaders. This is a great way to build an electrical system and still move it as you upgrade your house, barn, everything.

Love the 240v cart idea. It's what I asked for in the other video. You're correct in that a hand truck system is silly. However as a temporary back up. I have a 14-30 twist-lock generator input on the side of my house. Adding the same output to your system, and having on a cart just to move as needed, or a semi permanent system if you will. Thanks so much for all your videos! I've learned so much from them and your website community!

Thanks Will. I actually built the small system you are showing from one of your previous videos. Thanks for updating the information because I was trying to figure out that the strip outlet is only around 1800 watts and the system can push 3000 watts and didn't know how to capture the other wattage. Your update makes perfect since. Thanks again Will. Keep up the great work you do!!!

Will, another excellent setup and video. I truly appreciate your knowledge and simplicity in communicating this stuff. FANTASTIC! In your opinion would a system like the 3kw system be overkill, to power a home office consisting of laptops, battery chargers, gaming computer, small work bench using heat gun, charging batteries for battery operated tools, standard home office printer, small set of desktop speaks, and a 35 inch TV (periodically)? Not everything would be running 24/7 and not all at the same time. Thanks much. Great build and update, looking to do the same, and would be using your links. Final note your book is gold! Re: 3kw cart update. Eco worthy has 48v 50AH batteries for $630 - $100 promo. I ordered two for 100AH of capacity for barely over $1000 after tax. Signiture solar is offering a $50 off coupon for new customers. So $1500ish pre tax for eg4 + 5kwhr of capacity. Absolutely smashes prebuilts in terms of cost, capacity, input, output, upgradability, and feature.

The site rhymes with "flea bay". I have not opened them up as I'm assuming it's like all other budget lifepo4 units and "good enough". One 48v/50ah battery and eg4 would give you almost the same capacity as an eco flow pro (2500 whr vs 3600) but much more upgradability and almost 1/3rd the cost.

Think lawn and garden poly dump trailer or similar. A powersupply a bit larger with more capacity than an off-the-shelf mobile power station that can be towed with anything from a simple lawn and garden mower, ATV/RTV, or small tractor. Most homesteads and off-grid cabins already utilize these types of small trailers and machinery. All hardware within the bed of the trailer with a hinged 2x4 top that doubles as a work table top. At some point I am going to build a small towable 120/240 power station that can be easily towed in remote locations. Feel free to beat me to it.

Just make 2 of the smaller carts and then make a small box with the wiring to bring together both carts for a 240v system like Eco does. That would open lots of uses for them together or separately. For the Big Foot build, use the Harbor Freight utility cart (1000 lbs. capacity & cheaper) instead of a 2-wheel dolly.

This portable is close to solving a cool problem. Imagine that the inverter was able to generate grid so AC coupled inverters could turn on when the sun is bright. Yes, I would need to manually disconnect the utility but a manual disconnect is so much cheaper than a set of schneider parts. With 30kwhr of battery, it would mean leaving the utility off for most of the year, which is not good for sellback but if they dont pay, why bother. Therefore, my request Will, is to modify and test your test unit. thank you

Will, I was curious if you could cover the 3k or a batteryless inverter by eg4 or similar company for doing hot water heating. I have had solar for 8 years and some of the last things to take care of are air conditioning (which you have covered w/ the eg4 hybrid systems) and the need to solve my hot water heating needs. I use propane now and it's expensive seasonally upwards of $4 per gallon now. Being able to stack a few thousand watts of panels with a batteryless inverter to at least one element is what I'm looking for. Not sure if the 3k is in the ballpark to do that or not. Will still have the propane tankless in-line with the electric heater, but hoping to cut down on costs. Last 200 gallon fillup was about $800 bucks and I do this twice a year with 8 in our household. Thanks for the great channel.

Wil, I have a design question for you. I'm in the process of converting my 1998 42' Class A motorhome to lithium and eventually add solar. I've been doing a lot of watching you and others. I started with buying the Trophy cells from overkill you suggested, and I made two 12v 100ah batteries to replace the 4 6v batteries it had that were junk. I also bought the Victron smart shunt and the Victron DC to DC charger. This worked great. Of course, I wanted to go bigger, so when my wife wasn't looking I bought a Victron Multiplus II 2x120 24v version to replace my older charger/ inverter. I also bought the lynx shunt, lynx distributor, and the cerbo gx with the touch screen. I paired this with the EG4 battery 24v 200AH you seem to like. I have the battery mounted under my bed in a configuration that will allow me to buy more in the future and stack them like if the rack had tipped over on its back. In putting this together, I needed a way to convert the 24v down to 12v to run everything in the camper. I read about someone else using an Orion 24/12 70 from Victron. They said you could put more in parallel if you needed more amperage. Like when pulling the large slides in and out. I had an idea, however. I know I could buy a 24v BMS for my trophy cells and add it to the EG4, but that mixes batteries. So, I wondered if it would be worthwhile to use the 12v batteries as an "accumulator" to help absorb large loads? I hooked it up that way yesterday. All the lynx components are 24v. I installed two busbars below them that are 12v. I hooked the Orion between the two, but it doesn't output enough voltage to charge the Trophy batteries. I'm contemplating using the Orion to charge the 2 AGM chassis batteries. I've been trying to keep them separate so that if my coach batteries die, they will not. My thought is that the Orion 24/12 70 will draw from the EG4 to charge the 12v AGM batteries to 13v, which will, in turn, trigger the Orion smart 12/12 30 to charge the Trophy "house" batteries to 14v. If the EG4 shuts off because of low voltage, the AGM batteries will stop charging and eventually drop below... let's say 12.8, which will stop the Orion smart 12/12 30, and finally, the Trophy batteries will deplete themselves... Am I totally wrong in my planning? Does this sound like it will work?

Instead of making pigtails to interface, Donwhat I did and put an GE RV panel on the system, gives you the options of sockets without the need to change your pigtail.

I've heard that you can build a parallel and series battery circuit but have never seen a video on such. For example, take two batteries and parallel them and hook them up to two batteries in series. I believe that would increase both voltage and amps at the same time. If so, can you make a video of the advantages and disadvantages? Thank you!

Will, just a quick question. When the power comes into the EG4 does it charge the battery and the battery runs the load or does it run the load and then charge the battery at the same time?

But what about grounding? Do you have live voltage coming from the inverter casing?

What if we have a truck with dual amp alternators making 440 amps? Do we just we one of them 12v-24v dc to dc charger?

Amazing videos! I have learned so much (yet nothing, lol). So, I want to do the 3kW setup in a van. I would like to use one LP4 24v rack mount with the EG4. What is the min solar I can get away with? I don't have room for 3 400w panels on my van. Probably more like 3 200w, or 600w total. Can you or someone help a brother out? Is this just the wrong way to go? This system just seems so perfect/simple for all I want to run. I looked at the Growatt and the PIP and was not so interested.

Hey Will-I love your videos! I have a 50 amp 5wheel and looking for a good mobile grid option that I can put inside the front compartment. Is it possible to wire a 50 amp plug (you said 30 amp could be added) to the EG4 w/trophy battery? I am thinking about mounting the inverter to a piece of plywood and laying it down horizontally inside the front compartment with the battery secured top of course.

The EG4 cart. Would it be OK to add an auto transformer to get 220 for a well pump?

Sounds like the better option is 2 of your original power dollys and run them in parallel for 240?

Can you do a video on a battery DIY expansion for the Delta Pro? I started my project I bought a utility cart and buying everything one part at a time. My plan is to feed the battery into the solar input of the delta pro. Right now I have a smart plug that cuts off at sun down. I have a circuit breaker connected to the battery. I flip the breaker and it feeds the 100W into the solar input on the delta pro. It bumps it up a bit and adds a few hours of run time. BUT my NOCO GEB 5X3 cant recharge the 12V battery fast enough. A work in progress. Any ideas to make this better?

Nice job man! quick question can this Server rack batteries work for an electric car, you can use them to power an electric car?

I really like the smaller cart, Will. I'd love to see a build of this that makes it more ruggedized or weatherproof. I see the value in having a system like this in emergency situations, but I don't like the idea of requiring dry conditions for loading and unloading, or operating. Consider a storm scenario where you need to move this rig from a truck or trailer to a building or tent. I'd be nervous about getting it wet without some sort of weatherproofing.

any reason to not use an EG4-6000ex? 240v, smaller and has much better PV input. That big cart seems clunky and could be improved just by switching to that

Thanks for all the helpful info. With the Renogy Boost controller does this connect to the EG4 3000 or directly to the batteries? I currently have two 340w 41 voc panels until I get more so ordered the boost controller for short term input solution. Does the output go into the PV input of the EG4 inverter? Thanks in advance

I was thinking about running a second alternator on my skoolie for the house batteries.. I removed the bus air conditioners and have two pulleys with nothing to pull.. someone told me that it wasn't a good idea. What do you think?

Wow, I just came across your channel and never ever found this stuff so interesting before. I could listen to you talk all day 🥵🙈 It's a shame we can't do this in UK for solar panels unless we want to invalidate our home insurance, mortgages & a ton of buildings regulations.
