This is acrylic on a river rock.
I mix my paints with Floetrol (amzn.to/2BG5kka) and water and put silicone in some of the paint colours.
Most of my paints I use are Reeves fine artist acrylics like these on Amazon amzn.to/2GwJBRC .

What a beautiful rock!They bring such joy to the one that finds them. My daughter found one in a bar and asked the bartender who it belonged to ,he told her you if you want it. It was painted with the cutest elephants and she collects elephants! How great is that!

@McEArt
@McEArt 5 лет назад
Hi Stacey Sorry I do cover the mixing in many of my videos. It really depends on what paint you use as all brands are different. These are done with Reeves fine artist acrylics and I do 1/3 floetrol to 2/3 paint and then water to the right consistency.

I’ve had a rock just like that one sitting on my table trying to figure out how to paint it. So glad I came across your video because this is exactly what I want to do. But I have a question do you think if I mixed resin with the paint or resin over the paint that the rock would be OK outside. And what do you plan to do with your rock it’s beautiful. Thank you
@McEArt
@McEArt 4 года назад
I haven't mixed paint and resin before but resin overtop would definitely work as long as you seal the whole thing.

Very cool! I need to find a rock that big! 😀 What kind of sealed for outside?
@McEArt
@McEArt 6 лет назад
Outside polyurethane or resin are my thoughts. Make sure the entire surface is sealed though so no moisture can get in and pop it off.

I think mixing the Mars black which had blue in it with the yellow gives you the green
@McEArt
@McEArt 6 лет назад
Yes I can see how you think that but I played with the Veridian green and Deep Yellow does make that green.

what was the thing you used to put the dots? beautiful pour, never done it, may try it this weekend?
@McEArt
@McEArt 5 лет назад
Hi Flowercat812, I put silicone oil in the paint and then by warming it with the butane torch the oil rises to the top and pushes the paint apart to show different layers.

you did GREAT on ur 1st rock pour!!!! congrats!!! ive poured itty bitty ones, on up to this sz, & 1 thing ive learned, is...ALWAYS have TOO MUCH paint!!!! 😂! i can do 1 huge rock, & several other smaller ones w/a cup. some people prime...i dont. and...i always put felt (black) on the bottom. i DO LOVE painting rocks...even BETTER than canvases. they just cone out prettier!!!! 😄😄😄😄😄😄😄 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
@telemyztery
@telemyztery 6 лет назад
Me too. I only practice on the small canvas, but have lots of rocks. I will try to do the felt on the bottom unless they are for outside. I will definately tryin pouring on the rock, as I have seen much pouring on canvas and I do not have space for all that mess. lol
@gaylaroof612
@gaylaroof612 6 лет назад
Monique Zanetta i dont have much space either!! and rocks are DEFINITELY SMALLER than canvases...unless u pour on those cute itty bitty 2x2 canvases!!!! 😄. i DO LOVE those little things too!!!! 😄😄😄 💖💖💖💖

Where can I find more information on ratios and what and when to mix the colors. I am very new to this but live it and need more simplified information. Also when to use the torch or the heat element..
@McEArt
@McEArt 5 лет назад
Hi Diana the ratios vary depending on the type of paint and the color of the paint and what you are mixing it with. With the Reeves I use approx 2 parts paint 1 part floetrol and water to correct consistance and silicone approx 1 drop per 30ml or 1 oz, torch is to get the bubbles out but also to bring the silicone to the surface by warming the paint so I usually do that after I pour and before tilting so the cells can stretch and then again after I am happy with the tilting to get last air bubbles out. Maybe jump on the Acrylic Pouring for Fun facebook group and ask the others on there what ratios they use for your paint type?

Bleach might have been better for mould. Wonder if it would have helped to seal the rock first. Looks good though. Thanks
@McEArt
@McEArt 5 лет назад
Yes bleach is a great option :) What would you seal the rock with?
@ashtonpourcio4093
@ashtonpourcio4093 6 лет назад
Have you thought of putting a base (black/white) down first to help fill in the "holes". Then seal your rock art with resin-ta-da
@McEArt
