I literally had this experience in high school. During lunch recess. Her note said she loved our relationship. Obviously i read that wrong. So after school while waiting for the bus. I told her i loved her too. Which took her by suprise. I was in 8th grade when a girl complimented me. I was really insecure about my looks at that time (I still am, lol), especially my teeth since they weren't perfectly aligned. People used to make fun of me and call me 'rabbit,' and I always hated that. But then this girl, whom I knew only for a couple of months since I was newly transferred to that school, out of nowhere complimented me by saying, 'hey, I kinda like your teeth.' Due to my insecurities, i wasn't abe to comprehend that completely and assumed she was mocking me, so I instinctively replied, 'shut up' with a harsh tone. Later, I realized that she actually meant it and figured that she was actually interested in me. There were various incidents where she was giving clear hints and signs to the point where everyone around us knew about it and believed that I was just being oblivious. Except I wasn't; I was deliberately trying to avoid her, not because I wasn't interested in her, but because I didn't really know how to respond to all this. I couldn't even look her in the eye, let alone talk to her. This was the first time a girl treated me like this, and I didn't know what the best course of action would be, so I avoided her. Now, I regret it, not because I fumbled on her, but because I was being a total jerk to her because of my insecurities. It's been more than 5 years now, and I still feel bad about it. She was probably the only person who ever complimented my looks, and I just want her to know that I will cherish that forever.
This reminds me of the time some girl said that she liked my haircut and as an insecure bullied teen I taught she was mocking me and I told her to go f herself and kill herself after that. Immediately I noticed she became really sad and just walked away fast. The first time someone other than my parents complimented me, it was this girl. Her name was Maddy, she was dating a friend of mine and we were becoming closer as friends. My friend and Maddy broke up about a month after I met Maddy and I made attempts to stay friends with her. A few months in I had to make the choice of losing my friend to keep Maddy in my life, which sucked but at that point I was falling for her. October 19th, 2021. In the morning I woke up to a message from Maddy talking about my selfie (the first of many) that I had posted and how amazing I looked with my hair uncontrolled and wild. I nearly cried seeing that. I can’t explain it. That day sticks out in my memory and that day I asked her out. She said yes and we happily dated for the next 2 and a half years.

Women crave them because they're used to it and if they stop coming then there must be something wrong....plus it makes her feel good. Men crave them because we rarely get it, and it makes us feel good as well. So a women would enjoy it, but forget it. Men enjoy it and tend to hold that memory longer. (Ofcourse the time and how much they enjoy it depends on the person as well.)
