I just can't say it enough I really love and enjoy this video especially the last part and the part where you're catching all the slab shellcrackers but especially when you're cooking them on the boat like that and they're nice and crispy and you made a sandwich out of them oh my God it's so wonderful to watch I've watched this video so many times and I know I keep commenting every time I watch it but man it's so freaking amazing and that sandbar and Island you pulled up on was so beautiful.

When I take my boys fishing I always take them to a private pond with ultralight tackle and we catch some really chunky pumpkinseed and bluegill. We've caught largemouth, yellow perch, and black crappie out there too. We usually use nightcrawlers on small hooks and they just hammer it. No weight, just the hook and a piece of worm. I live near Pittsburgh, PA, but I'm from Tampa, Florida. I actually used to live in Charleston, SC on Mount Pleasant when I was a kid.

I use the back side of my tactical knife, which is serrated, for scaling fish. And the parrot fish in the Mediterranean sea have tough scales but this way it takes a few strokes.

Good afternoon bro! The first thing I'm going to say, is that if you don't have closed captions, it's going to make it a little difficult for me to totally understand what you're saying. I have a small hearing loss in my left ear. 40 minutes is a long time to try to listen to something and not be able to make out as much. In texas we catch a cooler full of red ears in 30mins it’s not hard you’re fishing to deep. They call them shell crackers for a reason. They spawn in the summertime in shallow water and when they are making a spawning bed they feed on freshwater clams. We call them red ears. My 8 year old nephew begs me to take him fishing at the ranch lake cause my sisters husband is from Kansas and went to KU and has no idea what he is doing and we use old watermelon slices put them on top of a tarp and wait 20-30 mins then roll it into a cone and dump all the grass hoppers on top of ice and my nephew will catch more in an hour three times the size and I actually have to make him stop fishing cause I don’t want to have to clean more than 35-40 of them. U don’t want a rock bottom you want sand where they bed.

Love your videos, if you want to get a 100% boneless panfish fillet there is a string of bones that go from the wide side of the fillet to 2/3 through the fillet that is easy to cut out.

Love shell cracker! Biggest I've caught is 18" and 2.11 lbs... in Kerr Lake (southern VA). They are possibly my favorite fish to eat so far... they have a very "fresh and light" taste/texture. I caught my biggest in August back in a cove at the mouth of a creek!

Also, I feel your pain with the tree branch. I was fishing at a state pond in Riverview, Florida fishing for gator and big largemouth when I got a strong hit on my stunned bluegill. I started fighting this thing in thinking it was the small gator that inhabited that pond (which I DID end up catching at the request of the groundskeeper), and I fought this thing all the way up to the shore and it was a tire...lmao

I've never had a shellcracker prim or bluegill sandwich. They're normally just fried up great by themselves with some coleslaw. It was a great video though can't wait to try that myself it's been a long time since I caught some big bluegill like you did. Bluegill's my favorite like I said in one of your other videos when they have the egg sacks the egg sacs on bluegill and crappie are phenomenal tasting when you fry them up with some egg and flour but like you did you made your sandwich with the shell cracker and then you ate the one afterwards with nothing just a shellcracker that's my favorite just the hot shell cracker off the grill and then also really cold shellcracker when it sets for a good hour is so phenomenal on my favorite fish besides crappie but bluegill shellcracker, is my favorite thanks for another video.
