I love how this channel has grown over the years. Suzanne is such a great co-host. Thank you for letting us ride along to Sydney (and all the other videos!)
@@scottdeakes8494 I did Austin to Sydney last year and slept through the concert I attended the night I got there because I was so tired! I was so disappointed for having slept through a concert at the Sydney Opera House, but luckily I'm getting another chance to go see the musician later this month.
This has the same vibe to Paul Lucas "suffering" the worlds longest narrow body trip not in economy but in throne seat in SAS business. You can tell when the views get more important than the trip when it becomes a business... bums on seats matter not on the plane, but us watching.
I always think of our planes as flying carpets you get on in one country and get off in another the other side of the world amazing. Like how the captain says 14 hours and 28 minutes. Love how the seats recline and not effect the person behind you.
There’s nothing more spectacular than that final approach into Adelaide, with the CBD skyline and the amazing Adelaide Oval. Ok, I’m from Adelaide so a little biased but it’s still a fabulous approach!
I did not know that Delta uses locally sourced premium catering in its hub cities. I look forward to flying in a Delta One Business Seat soon. I've found that over the past 20+ years that Delta's employees are the best in the U.S. Airline industry. Thanks for sharing your latest Delta One experience.
Jeb, I wish you would include the fare cost for all the seats you fly on. Yeah, we know you sometimes redeem rewards miles, and we know the cost varies based on when and how the flight is booked. But still, pick a date... two, three, four weeks in advance of the flight you plan to take, and look up the cash price for the cabin class you will sit in. I think we'd all appreciate that information!
@@greenidguy9292 First of all, by Jeb just reporting the regular retail price of the seat at a certain time before the flight, we still wouldn't know how much he paid for it. He might have gotten a better deal, redeemed miles, etc. Secondly, even if he also told us how much he paid for seats, that doesn't indicate how much money he is making. He has other expenses besides airfare, and it says nothing about how much revenue he gets from RU-vid. Third, he's not making money "off of us," as in out of viewers' pockets (unless you count patreons and channel members, but those folks obviously want to give him money). He is making money from advertising via RU-vid. Why would any of his viewers begrudge him making money from advertising on his videos? That's what RU-vidrs do. I'm sure most of Jeb's viewers want him to make good money. On the other hand, I can think of a couple angles related to what you wrote which might make some sense. Some viewers might feel something like "If he can afford tickets that expensive, then he must be making too much money." Whatever "too much money" is..? It might be that they don't feel they can relate to him as well, or that they are jealous of him because he can afford flights they cannot. Or, the high cost of an airfare might underscore the idea that extravagant accomodations on a flight are wasteful, when there are homeless people and hungry people across the USA and around the world. I have held that kind of opinion myself after watching some of these videos. Some other flight bloggers indicate how much airfares cost. And some others do not. I don't know the reason(s) why some choose not to. I would like Jeb to at least explain someday his reasons why he doesn't, if he won't.
I just looked up Delta One Suite tickets from LAX to SYD for November of this year (so 3 months in advance) and I got only one flight option and it is nonstop and it is $11,997 and this is a round trip ticket ! (I picked November 6- the end of November). Now mind you around holiday times is higher but here is an idea!
My wife and I did CHO-IAD-SFO-SYD on United Business First (pre-Polaris) back in Nov 2016 to visit her brother (Army Major) who was doing exchange duty with the ADF and I think, having experienced a 24 hour total flight+layovers as you did, that it is more preferable than an 20+ hour non-stop flight. Especially if you have lounge access that offers showers so you can truly refresh and not feel so grungy/grubby when you arrive after such a massive flight. I'm sure others will have opposite opinions but so long as both options exist, to each their own 🙂
Glad you're on Delta.. I do contract work for them and I know a number of FA's and tech ops guys.. I even have a standing invite to come visit tech ops to see how the engines are worked on. Delta is one of the few airlines with crew that's licensed and capable of doing complete engine rebuilds. (Their A350 engines are inspected by turning the engine sideways and taken apart vertically versus horizontal.. it's better for the engine and for fitment.. the only problem is the size of the engine is bigger than their old doors...they had to make a new building!)
Love your videos, especially Amtrak. For flights, I’ve had too instances where I’ve missed continuing connections, or connecting flight cancellations, so I will take a non-stop if available to make sure I get to my destination. Delta One has improved greatly over the years.
I don't understand all the hateful comments, it took more time to write it all out then to simply scroll past. Anywhoo..new subscriber here and I absolutely love your sense of adventure. Thanks for the content ❤❤
Hi Jeb, as a pilot myself and world traveler, I really enjoyed your videos and have been following all your posts for long time. One thing that specially made your videos unique and apart from other in similar travel related video reviews, you are not only review the trips, but also telling the stories. Great work and thanks for all the efforts.
As an Aussie it always makes me smile a bit when travel vloggers (or anyone really) talks about how long it takes to travel Down Under - if we ever want to go ANYWHERE it's pretty much always hours and hours in a plane - its kinda the norm for us (lol although if I could do it in Business or First that'd be GREAT!!!!!)
@@scottdeakes8494 You're just lucky the northern hemisphere invented the plane so you don't have to travel around in a boat the northern hemisphere also invented. Thanks for inventing cheating in cricket though ! The reason you have to travel so far is because we in England spent so much time thinking of a place so far away to get rid of the criminals so they wouldn't come back ... ahem ...
The last time I flew to Australia was to watch my wife compete on one of the U.S. teams at the 2000 Sydney Games. The best part of the 36 hours of travel to get there from Greensboro NC was the arrival into Sydney. After looking out the window and seeing nothing for so long it was almost a shock to be flying over the inlet just as it was starting to be dusk. Flying past the famous Opera House and then making a slow turn over the Harbor Bridge and then right over the Olympic Stadium and seeing it all lit up and full of people with the flame burning just as it was getting to be full dark made it a very exciting arrival into Australia.
@@SuperDecdog Call me a liar if you wish. I can only recall my experience as best I can. I am sure that you can appreciate that after flying from Greensboro to Charlotte to Los Angeles to Sydney I was just a little bit tired.
The Project Sunrise prep fascinates me. I don’t think my body could tolerate the whole 24 hours non stop, but the whole “If we can, should we?” debate is a good one.
It's notable that it's QANTAS, Australians are used to long flights to get anywhere and are probably more willing than most to tolerate getting it done in a single flight. The worst part of the flights from Australia is that short flight AFTER the 15.
I’d do a 24 hr non stop in business class, cuz i’ve done close to that in economy with horrible delays on American Airlines. I pretty much dislike many hour layovers.
@@ChrisHockman funny that we think that extra 7 hours is a ‘short’ flight. I think I’d much rather do it all in 1 go and get it the hell over with. Hopefully then if you’re lucky enough to upgrade to business you’ll barely have to worry. Probs why QFF is so big here
I think the choice of making a connection or not depends on what cabin I'm in. I really don't fancy a 20+hour flight in economy, or even in PE tbh. So in those cabins I'd rather make a connection halfway to get off and stretch my legs for a few hours. If I was in business or first though then I'd rather just do one long flight.
Even in the premium cabins I'll take the stop over. I wouldn't fly long haul in anything other than at least business. I'll stay home rather than subject myself to that torture. I actually quit a job over that issue with a change in travel policy that wanted me to go to India twice a month in economy. Yeah no. I just don't want to be on any plane longer than 12 hours or so. By about hour 12 I want off. Only adds 2-4 hours to a long journey which is really nothing on such long routing.
I’m an AA dude (hub related), but have flown non-stop to Sydney several times via Qantas. A great experience every time with them. I avoid connections like the plague. 😂
The very first video I watched on this channel was when you went from Detroit to Tokyo on Delta's inaugural A350, your channel has grown so much since then
Hi Jeb, it is so nice to see your latest review and the joint presentation. I like the way you aim to see new things as you travel the world. True, many Aussies and I are literally hanging out for the proposed Qantas long range flights, which potentially will minimise lost luggage. Yet, whilst waiting for them, a break halfway always creates opportunity for 'refreshment' in a lounge. Hope you have time to explore South Australia, a couple of days in Port Lincoln would be amazing (Check it out with Dennis as your guide) cheers and enjoy the rest and all that is new to you both.
I used to fly very regularly between Atlanta and Dubai. It was a 15 to 16 hour flight, depending on the Jet Stream. Doing it in Delta's BusinessFirst was GREAT. However, we joked that 16 hours in Economy was like being in an electric chair without the electricity.
I loved this episode Jeb , maybe it’s because I call Sydney home and have my family in Adelaide , biased I know . My first thought when I saw this video was “ I wonder if you will see Mr Bunnik “ , of course you did , and hopefully on my next trip to Adelaide in 2 weeks I will too . I hope you had a great time in Australia , my adopted homeland , and look forward to further instalments . Happy travels to you both .
Nice trip Jeb and Suzanne! The food did look really great... I'm heading to HNL from ATL in the fall on Delta One, so looking forward to some improved catering... Keep traveling and giving us the Jebscore!
I flew the LAX to SYD flight in 2019 in Delta ONE, on the now-retired refurbished 777. I must say, the experience was incredible. Delta, not surprisingly, had AMAZING crew, and the experience was something I will never forget. Thank you for helping me revisit this flight. Looking forward to future videos!
As long as I have enough space and enough comfort I would definatly fly for 24 hours, as I am a big aviation enthusiest just lake many of your viewers I thinks that would be an experiance I would never forget. Great video Jeb, can't wait for more.
Thanks for taking us along! I really do look forward to each new release. This one even intrigued my wife that she sat and watched the whole video with me! I appreciate how humble you are and that you voice your appreciation for your travels and being up front
Can we just appreciate how much time Jen and Suzanne put in to this channel just to entertain and show how the world I’d to travel. By far the best channel on RU-vid
Great video as always Jeb! Thank you for taking the time and effort to make these videos and show them to the world! A lot of us don't travel much so it's fun to see how it all works and how the places look! I would prefer to have a layover in a city instead of a straight 24 hr trip because that seems rather insane to me haha.
I finally got to ride in one of these seats on a domestic leg last weekend! The IFE had a lot of options, and wifi worked the whole time (I was able to send pictures of the seat to some friends). My only complaints would be the actual seat within the suite. There wasn't much cushioning at all, and when in bed mode it felt a little claustrophobic. The food and drinks offered were definitely top notch.
I like how Suzanne is taking a more active part in your episodes - you two make a great team! You're taking a train as part of this journey? Will it be the Indian-Pacific?
The longest flight I've done is 15 hours (Toronto to Hong Kong). I would certainly try out a 24 hours flight, as I always fly in business class on long haul flights. However, if I were in economy, and maybe even in business, a layover and a shower don't sound bad.
Let’s get Jeb to 1 mil!! Great video, I should try it myself someday! Keep up the great work! You and Suzanne are great at doing things like this! I love the videos!
Great review! My last international flight was Delta and Air France to Douala Cameroon Africa, and I was in coach. It was so miserable, cramped and crowded. I was in an aisle seat and there was a big guy in the middle seat who fell asleep, and was pushed up against me. The person in front of me tilted their seat all the way back. I am going back, but this time I am going to splurge on Delta One and enjoy it! No more suffering in Coach!
Not long ago, the west of the Appalachians are barely inhabited since it's such an arduous journey to go across it. Nowadays you only need to spare a day to travel almost 9500 miles. And people still wonder why I'm so obsessed about air travel.
I think when it comes to cleaning, some airlines have kept the same cleaning process as when the world was in the midst of the pandemic. I agree with Jeb that it has to happen but I don’t know why airlines haven’t found ways to clean planes faster (more cleaning staff?). And of course, it’s good to see Jeb and Dennis back together again - connecting Australia and USA
Found your channel about 3 months ago and really enjoy the air and train videos. So cool to see what is offered out there. Also, I would always rather fly straight through. I live in MN and the longest flight I've done was to London and back, 8-9 hours so it's possible double digits could change my "straight through" option. lol
amazing 24 hours, and flying on such breathtaking plane, it makes it even better, and of course I just can not forget a really nice person joyning with you.
I am on the same "jetlag is a myth" team as you Jeb. I actually wanted to hear your full ramble on it haha, can we have your full thoughts one day? Everybody is different but me personally I've never had an issues with jetlag. This is coming from a person who can also fall asleep pretty much anywhere and I know not everybody can do that. I can also stay awake on little sleep too so, maybe we're just built differently Jeb lol!
Thank you for sharing your trip. One thing I love about the two of you is that even though things may not be as you expected, the two of you always remained calm and positive. It is not easy, especially when in front of the camera. :)
Of course you had the meatballs! 😂 The food looks much better than what United is serving currently. I hope you both had a great trip to Australia and look forward to watching your adventure on the rails!
Jeb: You are a lucky young guy! I don't know how you put your gig together, but I would have killed to do the traveling that you seem to take for granted. Some day in the future, please share with us how you did it. Meanwhile, enjoy your travels!
Used to live in Atlanta. Delta is delayed for me more than any other airline. Its insane. So many people love them but I have nothing but negative thoughts on their tardiness. Even now that I'm out of atlanta they are still always late for me
@Patricia Duvall thats fine. Go to bat for your company/ airport. Not saying it isnt anecdotal. Just relaying to you whats been told to me. If ive been lied to thats not on me
Our flight CXL’d to Tokyo also. My husband got on the phone rebooked for the next day and we went to a beautiful hotel in the Marina. He didn’t want the stress of dealing with lines, and wanted our three week trip as stress free as possible . So we started over the next day refreshed and well rested
OMG my 2 favourite travel vloggers were meters away from where I work (I work directly across the road from Dennis’ building) and I wasn’t there this sucks!! Looks like it was a great couple flight. The napkin thing was funny however it does show they don’t clean everywhere.
I've worked on this aircraft before! Those of us in maintenance aren't the biggest fans of the 350s but happy to hear the customers are happy with them! Would love to hear about any updates on your Delta Line Maintenance video you hinted to in your Tech Ops tour video. Would love to see you come take a look at what we do over in cabin maintenance!
hi! i've been watching your videos for like 3 years now and i'm so glad you're still making content here! i just wanted to say *thank you* for uploading menus to your site!! it's like the #1 thing im interested in when it comes to travel stuff and with other creators i always have to pause and zoom in on their menu shots lmao. you guys are the greatest!! :)
...and this is why I fly Delta. It is a very good airline, they have flights everywhere out of New York, they have the best on time rating of all the US airlines (not mentioned ever), the lowest cancelation rate, and the service is great even when things don't go well (and when you fly a lot, it does happen).
my wife and are delta fans, I was a northwest customer since 84. We are planning a trip to England from LA in 2024 we’re definitely considering delta one for that trip
I love your videos and daydreaming about my future delta one flight. Just have to figure out where to go! And as far as your survey, being in a lie flat seat makes all the difference between preferring a long layover vs a short one. 😊
can anyone technical explain how on the SAME plane how the wifi didnt work on the 1st leg but it did on the 2nd? did the cabin crew just flick a switch?
Jet Lag is NOT a myth. However, it is also not just the time change. A lot of it is caused by dehydration due to the on-board air being much drier and at a lower pressure than most of us are accustomed too. More of it is caused by the fact many/most travelers consume alcohol in connection with their trip (such as at the airport before boarding and not just during the flight). Even if alcohol is not used one needs to consume extra liquids (orange juice, water, etc.) to counteract the dry air. That is why people get "Jet Lag" when flying between North American & South America, with little or no time change involved.
