今から45年前私がラリーに興味を持つたのがこのサファリラリーでしたTVの30秒程のCM見て三菱ランサーの総合優勝及び123位独占と言う結果に日本人として強烈な印象でした！

The roughest and toughest, the Safari Rally that put man and machine right to it's extreme core ever, 3000 miles through Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, through, quagmire, treacherous mountains, rain, mud ,rivers and desert conditions combined, started as opening ceremony by The Queen Elizabeth the 2nd.. In 1953 ,the Corronation East African safari rally and in it's 70th. year...2023 and continues as WRC Kenya Safari Rally...Hamjamboni watch wetu wa Africa!

篠塚さん若いこと！ コーワンさんと言えば、マキネン全盛期の三菱WRCの監督をされていました

篠塚さんこの頃からラリーやってたんですね。最近お会いしてサイン頂いた時には爽やかなおじさんって感じでしたが。まさに日本のラリーレジェンドですね。

優勝したジョギンダのマシンと、篠塚さんのマシンは年式が違っていますね。

この頃のサファリは一般車と混走　なおかつ全ステージがSSロールバーヘルメット無し参加者の衣服は普通のものTシャツ長ズボンイボ付き軍手でドライバーは運転?　サービスはし放題　かなりの長時間運転他　ともかくトンデモナイ時代だった死亡者が少なかったのはまだ車両にエンジンパワーが無かったからか　なにせこの年の優勝車は2０0馬力無く　キャブレターだったはづです!
