My Dad was at the game that night and he bought back a flyer he picked up from a car windscreen near the ground for me to translate. Basically it was a local travel firm offering trips to Munich for the European Cup final between Cologne and either Malmö or Austria Vienna (The other Semi). Such arrogance it made the win al, the more sweeter.
As a Liverpool fan and having watched our game against Forest, I'm forever getting Forest games in my recommended list now lol. This will have hurt back in 79 - considering that it was Forest who knocked us out of the cup, but I can enjoy these highlights now lol.
Me too, not as a soldier, but landing up by mistake in the infamous "Südkurve" I managed to keep quiet until Forest scored then I couldn't contain myself and got some threatening "looks".
@@damionsunderpants498 Overall, even a Forest fan like myself would have to concede that Liverpool's superior record bears witness to what you say. However, on their day, this Forest team could probably have taken on any Liverpool team of that era and beaten them. As it is, they beat Liverpool at the beginning of this successful cup run. There was a documentary about a year ago about British success in Europe and in that the Liverpool players from that time were saying just how extraordinary the Forest team were. Add to that the game plans Forest came up with for situations like this Koln game or the 1980 final against Hamburg and it was a very potent combination.
Me too, with a mate "unwillingly" at the wrong end of the stadium, so we didn't get to see Bowyer''s goal. Only the red shirts going up in the air. Great feeling (of relief) when the ref whistled for time.
it was a very bad night to be live in the stadium. Cologne was the better team, but no chance. Robin Hood was better. But over all those years, Nottingham is in an nowhere mens land in football.
Hahaha 1.
