Adrien Brody for his role in the pianist. He lost 13 kg, gave up his apartment and his car, broke up with his then-girlfriend and learned how to play Chopin on the piano. Major respect.
ℭ𝔥𝔢𝔯𝔯1𝔢𝔰 yeah because I have a massive crush on him and to see him as fat and with an untamed beard made me so sad, but he was still pretty good looking
I know y’all did not place Christian Bale as number 25 My dude is insane. He lost all that weight looking like a skeleton and then gained it back for the dark knight, to look like a beef cake. Give my man Christian some respect and his props. 👏🏾🙌🏾👏🏾
Wade W. If you listened to the video, it says, And finally the master of small movies roles, the one who puts his body to limit for movie roles. Or something along those lines at 10:45 or somewhere along that time.
You don't have the means, funds, or dedication to do it the same way. They're rich. Not hard for them to hire trainers or change their diets. Also easier when loads of $$ is at stake.
I love how no one even mentioned how they’re most likely on performance enhancers haha now while on them you still need to maintain a strict diet and train a bunch but they speed up the process dramatically; furthermore with the constant progress while on them it makes it much easier to stay committed and driven. So don’t get upset about how you aren’t able to make such transformations.
Yo, you need to give more praise to Christian Bale. Just show a picture of him in the Machinist to the Batman series. Side by side it's truly astonishing.
What is there to praise about? He went from a very unhealthy thin to quite large and muscular in a year. Going to extremes with their weight for movie roles to me, isn't very impressive at all. And the stress I imagine that it would do to their body is very sad indeed...
Kristin Reese that's their bread and butter dude, and besides that's what seperates the mediocre individuals from the greats, people who go beyond their comfort zones are admirable, at least for me.
Agreed, but it seems like it could have been an easily avoided problem, though, if he had just spoken to Jackson about it first. Sounds a bit strange that he just decided on his own to gain a lot of weight for the role.
@@Lobo1604 I think he was trying to say that the fat can supply your muscles with energy to help strengthen them. So fat does turn in to muscle, just not literally.
@Mr. Ditkovich Gasp, look above! Is that a bird? Is that a cloud? No, it's a joke that flew right over your head! Jk jk, @Mee Mopp was being sarcastic 😅
i’d argue that what she did was potentially more dangerous than some of the actors mentioned as she’s had an eating disorder before & it could’ve triggered a relapse
I think the actors that do this are very passionate about their work. I’m a amateur actress myself and your really become your character if you have the costume on. Like Lily Collins for the movie ‘to the bone’ she also lost a lot of weight so that she could feel what a girl with anorexia feels. I really think that these actors are very passionate, and they did it al on a save way I hope
I totally agree but Lily Collins did actually have an eating disorder in the past so she was understandably worried about having to lose a lot of weight but she lost the weight safely with a nutritionist
It is genuinely impressive, but I must say that if my literal job was to exercise and I didn't have to go work at the bank 40 hours a week, I'm confident I could transform pretty good too.
Damion that is the biggest bullshit people writes. You can check the interviews of the people who worked with ledger on TDK, everyone says that he enjoyed every moment of it. And also going crazy still doesn't mean transformation
You guys realize stars have the best trainers in the world, and everything needed to make this do able right? It’s not plastic surgery, stop discrediting someone’s hard work just because you’re ignorant.
Michael Keaton doesn't need to lose or gain weight to play a role, he just needs to be in front of a camera...just saying...the man has serious acting skills...
I seriously believe we live in some kind of nexus of the Christian Bale multiverse. And there are all these different-sized Christian Bales roaming around that get signed for these movies.
Some of these are impressive; the discipline to change shape etc. But I have to laugh at the idea that Renee Zellwegger gets props for putting on just enough weight to look er...... like a normal healthy woman! There's what's wrong with Hollywood, right there!
Didn't you listen? She immediatly changed her entire physical appearance for her next role where she looks rather underweight. It wasn't just about her role as Bridget Jones.
@@PurpleCh4lk It really does take a lot of effort to gain weight. It took me 25 years to gain weight. It takes me not that long to lose it, all i have to do is stop eating late at night and i lose half a stone.
In someway you can get a little jealous of theirs bodies they get but mostly I jealous of theirs hard work and discipline they put in too the work .. of course they get help but still respect for the hard work and discipline..!
Josh Fallon YES. He trained for that role with a legit boxing trainer who said that if he had started working with Daniel Day Lewis at a younger age he could have been pro
Charlize Theron's transformation into Aileen Wournos was insane. If you see any news footage of the serial killer, it's downright uncanny how well she portrayed her.
What about Stanely Tucci in The lovely Bones? Man went from bald and tan with dark eyes. To white,a blonde comb-over, blue eyes and the dude wore dentures to change the shape of his jaw. He was barely recognizable.
Cristian Bales weight loss for The Machinist was SOO severe; he needed to be escorted w/multiple ppl on EACH side for when he’d fall over... He went STRAIGHT from that to training for Batman... He said when he met w/his personal trainer for Batman, during the assessment he couldn’t even do 1 push-up .. As much as I can’t condone such an intense method... you gotta admire that dedication/tenacity.
I feel that if anybody should have been mentioned on this list twice, it should have been Jared Leto for Chapter 27 and Dallas Buyers Club. Those were some serious extremes.
Well it is easy. Once you pay your trainer and have millions of dollars on the line. It's basically routine. Think about it. Almost everyone has had a schedule to keep, and for most part, keep to it; and that's for pretty much anyone else in the world who isn't an actor. Actors typically have to be dedicated to the source material and how far they go depends on them. Actors have plenty of time, plenty of resources, and have a strong network of people who tell them when they have to do something. That makes it easy. In short, with enough money, time, and dedication, anyone can drastically change themselves. Physically, it's easy, however, the mental game would be harder for some though, so I give you that.
