To make sure that the bacteria or viruses that the dead release will be cleansed from our body B) why do we leave our footwear outside the house? It is said that shoes or sandals or any footwear contains lot of bad bacteria which gets released due to sweat. Therefore we need to remove our footwear to ensure we do not bring it into house and hence we leave footwear and wash our feet b4 entering house C) why do indians wash brass and copper vessels in rain water Brass and copper over period of time react with moisture and form oxides on it. Rain water collected directly b4 touching ground is carbonated water as it absorbs the carbon di oxide in air. When this carbonated water is used to clean oxides react with CO to form H2O and hence the green black deposits on these vessels are removed there by making vessel shine like new one.
I'm not Indian, but I've been taught to leave my footwear outside of the house. 😊 Actually, I'm living in Italy. It was difficult to get used to Italian lifestyle, as they don't take off the shoes 💁♀️🙆♀️.. I still follow this rule, when I go home . Before entering inside home ,I will leave the footwear outside the house and I will go and wash the feet .

Many from the newer generations are losing touch with these traditions as they are unaware of the science behind them or these traditions don't sit well with their idea of being modern. You can lookout may distinct cultures across different Indian states. However, if you wish to explore some of the old temples and sculptures, you can lookout south Indian States.
