I just enrolled in Ged classes. And I'm 36 years old. 20 years ago I took the ged and failed the math and the 2nd part of the written test which was the essay. I became so discouraged because I do have a learning disability called Dyscalculia. Which means math has always been very hard on me. And it's effects me in others ways that I learn but nothing more than math. Of course I did work hard as a kid to learn the stuff I was struggling with in math and studied for hours and hours to get As and Bs on my report card. B was always in math. But I had to work so hard at it and I was a slow paced learner. I gave up on myself because my disability is not curable. I will have to live with this for the rest of my life. So I sought out other employment with no ged required. That was fine until I became physically disabled fue to herniated discs in my back, scoliosis, arthritis and inflammation. I had to quit my job be a use I can no longer do jobs that are physcially demanding and that require me standing for long periods without a break, or sitting for long periods without a break. I'm not suppose to bend over. Or twist my spine and do repetive movements.. So thanks goodness I'm married and my husband works full time and is able to support us. But I'm only 36 and I don't want to apply for disability checks and draw only $1,300 or so a month I want more for my family and I But it is going to be so hard to find a job that suits someone like me. Because automatically I turn away from any job that is physically demanding. I when watch youtube videos of people who work those kinds of jobs to see the many pros and cons. I've Eve looked into many different careers in the medical field. And I have to avoid careers that involves math I think would be too challenging for me But there was some things I think I could have done but had to decide that I cannot do that because not only is it physcially demanding, but any kind of job that means you will be doing x rays and around radiation alot. It does change your DNA which can lead ro cancer. Well that was an automatic no for me because I have MANY loved ones who have died from cancer. So I'm staying away from hazardous jobs.. Although I'm a friendly person and kind and enjoy talking to people at times. Ultimately I'm an introvert. And being an introvert means it's all about energy. And introvert feels fully charged up when they are by themselves or only with people they are close with and know well. However the feel drained and exhausted when around new people and a group of new people Now I have experience in dealing with customer service. And although I have dyscalculia it does not effect me anymore with basic arithmetic because I practiced so hard on it so I was able to be a cashier and count money fast and was moved to run the customer service desk and did western unions all day. I was handling $1000s everyday and I never once messed up. However put me towards more advance math and sometime throw in math with paragraphs including lots of numbers and even negative numbers. I can get mixed up as I try to work the problem. Now I'm a GED student again after being out of school for 20 years. It's scary but exciting. I feel more mature and more hopeful but I am worried on how much I have forgotten and if I will pass the science and social studies like I did before. Because last time I took orientation 20 years ago I scored in 11th grade in science and social studies. So they didn't have me study it. They instead had me only study reading and math. Especially math. Snd I need to work on my essays sine that's what I failed in language and arts last time. Since those areas is what I struggle with, can somebody share links with me on videos from this RU-vid channel or anyone really, that could help me in preparing for my GED? Also, I'd love to hear yalls ideas for a possible career for someone like me. I'm no tech wizard or know alot about buisness and finance. I do have some social anxiety so it would be great if I could find a job that was low stressful and not physically demanding.

@@tesneemabdallah9512 confidence is number one , you can’t go in thinking “what if I fail” , go in thinking I’m going to pass. Also don’t second guess yourself, go with your gut feeling. I failed it twice and when I went the third time I just kept a positive mindset. The multiple questions are what you really want to try on. Good luck :)

Pay attention to lists ?
@TestPrepChampions
@TestPrepChampions 2 года назад
If you see lists given to you in passages while you're reading, it can't hurt to make a mental note of where they are, as sometimes they might ask you questions about the content in the lits. That way if you happen to get a question in which reviewing a list of items is necessary, it hopefully won't take you that long to find where the list is in the passage.
