Gotta say it, you missed on Chris Sale. He cemented his HOF case after winning Cy Young and the Triple Crown this year. His strikeout pace numbers are insane
Andrew McCutchen is going to the HOF on numbers alone. Remarkably he is one of just 12 players in MLB history with at least 2000 hits, 1100 runs, 1000 walks, 1000 RBI, 300 homers, 400 doubles, and 200 stolen bases. Seven of those other players are in Cooperstown.
Thanks for the video. I am a baseball lifer and I think it’s not a true hall without Barry and Roger. Love or hate them they helped save the game after the strike. Plus PED guys are already in Cooperstown
I don’t hear anyone talking about Ohtani being the 2nd person to enter the Frank Robinson club. He’s about to win MVP in both leagues. Only Frank has done it until now, surprised it’s not being talked about WAY more
One guy I have my eye on is Yordan Alvarez. I know he is just a DH, but 30+ home runs year after year (without ever having played 150 games). Currently a .973 OPS. And you can get his rookies for CHEAP. I actually just bought a Finest Refractor rookie of his for under $5.
This was great. Our lists are pretty much the same. I’ve taken DeGrom off this list and put him back on numerous times. Stay on the field Jacob!!! Great video
Great topic! I think your list hit the nail on the head with most of your picks. People act like Mike Trout hasn’t already had an incredible career. He’s this generation’s Mickey Mantle and I think he still has some solid years ahead of him.
I think you nailed this list, Mike. Cole and DeGrom are hard for me to think of as HOFers, though. When we think about the benchmarks that we grew up with for pitchers to get in. Those two won't hit any of them. They have put up incredible numbers, but it just goes to show you how devalued starting pitchers have become. I do agree with you, though, that they have a pretty good shot at getting in. It's just where the game is right now, I guess. Rant complete. Awesome video, Mike.
I agree on 24 of 25. I just don’t see Degrom getting in. He would need to have an unprecedented run of health in his late 30’s. A guy I’m big on who I don’t think will get in is McCutchen. 2K+ Hits, 1K+ RBI/Runs/Walks, 200+ SB, 300+ HR, very underrated.
Thanks Mike! I would to have a conversation, but I have to agree with nearly every pick.! Degrom is questionable. But I enjoyed this. Especially you picking Jose Ramirez!
Fully agree on rose in the hall! Good thing I have most of those players with double and triple’s so if they make it I will be happy. Thing is I have a mix of raw and graded. Thank you for your content brother!
Fun video and great list. I agree with your deGrom pick. When he’s healthy he’s the best pitcher on the planet. The only one of your picks that really caught me off guard was Matt Olson. But it’s hard to argue against him, as he’s had some great seasons recently. He’s just not at the front of my mind when it comes to HOF players. I really enjoyed this one!
Great video and topic Mike. Not sure I am aligned with Kimber,DeGrom,Stanton or Olsen. Devers needs a few more solid seasons. Hoping Seager can stay healthy. What are your thoughts on Tre Turner or Kenny Jansen? Love these types of debates/discussions
I know he is very “new” yet but Luis Arraez. I mean 3 batting titles already and he doesn’t strike out. There was another Padre who was like that you know. Devers kind of reminds me of Jose Ramirez also. Didn’t really think about Kimbrel. I suppose he might end up like Billy Wagner. Can Degrom get enough innings? I would add these two: Francisco Lindor and Yordan Alvarez. I think you mentioned some players just look like HOFers. Then questionables for me would be Sale and Trea Turner.
Dude Jose Ramirez is sooo good. I think Goldschmidt and Lindor. I love Seager but man he cannot stay healthy he needs to put in some consistency staying on the field. Degrom is on the bubble too unless pitchers start getting a break for injuries. Great Video refreshing content thanks for sharing.
Just picked up the Jose Ramirez in PSA 10 this week. He seems like a lock. Why he isn't already put on the "futures" registry is strange. Would love more transparency on how that process works.
I think that most of these are reasonable. I don't necessarily agree with 100% (looking at you Jacob DeGrom)- but it's still possible. Surprisingly, the one I take the most issue with (as a Braves fan) is Matt Olson. He is on a potential pace for 500 HR- but that's his only way. He's under pace for 2,500 H, 1,500 R, 1,500 RBI, and isn't the most decorated player (2 GG, 1 SS, 2x AS). and by your metric, of the eye test- I watch him play a LOT being on my team. He's not someone I look at and see HOFer (which is not how I evaluate HOF-worthiness, just saying). He's not even a top 3 guy on the Braves that I want in the box with the game on the line. It's not impossible, but he wouldn't be in my top 50 of guys playing now that could be HOFers- much less 25. But that's what makes these types of discussions fun! The baseball HOF discussion is EASILY the most interesting, entertaining, and captivating across all of sports.
I agree with you degrom he is like a koufax soooo dominant, what do you think about Pete Alonso another solid year batting average not great but there is swingers for the fences that are in hall with not the best average, but he needs more years I believe can keep it up.
I’d add Yordan Alvarez and Francisco Lindor. Vladdy Jr may end up being the best of the bunch of that younger generation when it’s all said and done, only 25 and has never missed time due to injury
Great video! I have bunch of low grade vintage HOFers rookie cards that I was thinking about flipping into these current players rookie cards, auto and in high grade. Would that be crazy?
@@BaseballCollector Do you believe, for example, a George Brett Rc PSA 7 would have more upside in value then a Manny Machado bowman 1st auto card psa 9 (say both worth today $300) in the next 10-15 years. I’d debate the Manny would have more upside in value.
I would say NO to : DeGrom, Kimbrel, Stanton, Olson (Trea Turner should be considered if Olson is on your list) I would say MORE than some work to do : Acuna, Devers, Guerrero Left off the list: Votto (I know he reitred mid year but I think still worth mentioning), Lindor, Sale (have to consider him yes after his season) I think Freeman could retire and make it in tomorrow (Machado and Arenado are close) Great video, love having these kind of HOF prospecting debates
Sorry Mike all the pitchers cant pitch after the 5th inning and the batters nothing to exciting maybe trout but cant win the world series just mookie can make it but remember harold baines is in still cant believe it id prefer Norman to make it!!!!!!!! Got a question mike name me the only mascot to be traded and he should be in the hall of fame just a little question please take a second and tell me what mascot
For sure man look at Trevor Hoffman's prices, dirt cheap. Only thing that is gonna keep Ohtani out is if he keeps wanting to pitch. McCutchen is gonna make it. Chris Sale definitely!
I share in your enthusiasm for Stanton. And if we were in the roid ball era, I'd say, yeah, I think he could reach 500. His best seasons are ahead of him. But alas, we are not.
wishful thinking on degrom. he is 36 years old and has only 87 wins and hasn't had a good season in last 5 years. No way he come back and stays healthy for 3-4 more years to get even to considered into the hall
In opinion the Hall is an over crowded mess. It doesn’t mean much when slightly above average players are inducted. Too much emphasis is placed on longevity.
You are a "Hall of Fame guy" ... because some group of writers decide who is in and who is out, and DECIDE FOR YOU ... and you go on your merry way filling up your big beast with whoever they told you will go in there. It's amazing what happens when you think for yourself, and you collected Rose, and never gave a crap about Baines. Not much different with Presidential debates filled with nothing but Baines. Yeah, Trout is in, but Mattingly is not. Mattingly was not that guy ?
