Although i was not overly interested in the topic, This is one of my favorite videos because Mike was so laid back and having fun There is a magic to Mike's personality and bonus jokes that make me feel like I’m just hanging out with my bro Thank you ❤ and great job 🏆
@@list25 mike you are awesome too watch don't stop my wife and I look forward to when you release new videos and are still binge watching the rest at the moment
@@mikepa253 Sometimes I’ll watch a video from like seven years ago, for the second time I either catch something i missed the first time, or forgot and just enjoyed it like it was the first time Haha Mike is just a wonderfully authentic guy Its like hanging out with a buddy who does all the talking ❤️
Tip for cooking rice: buy a rice cooker and in 20 minutes with no watching, you get cooked rice. Plus, it keeps it warm. And once the rice has been cooled and it's a day or two old, pour oil in a pan and make fried rice. Finish it with a dash or two of soy sauce and you have one of the best rice meal ever.
Number 23, you forgot the hot bowl method for softening butter. Take a heavy glass bowl, fill it with boiling water for a couple of minutes, empty the water then place bowl upside down over the butter and leave for 5-10 minutes
Mike, here’s another tip for peeling boiled eggs. Add 2-3 heaping tablespoons of baking soda (Arm&Hammer) to the water before boiling. The alkaline water helps breakdown the membrane between the shell and the egg and the shell will slide right off.
Re: peeling eggs easily Cold water or peeling in water doesn't actually make a huge difference if eggs are hard to peel. If you have an issue getting the shell off, it's more than likely due to the freshness of the eggs themselves. The fresher the egg, the lower the pH level of the albumen (otherwise known as the egg white). When boiled, this causes the albumen to bond to the membrane inside the egg, not to the shell itself. In order to combat this issue, vinegar can be added to the water during cooking. The acid in the vinegar changes the structure of the shell itself and the inner membrane doesn't bond as strongly with the albumen. This works for me every time, recommended to me by the family I get eggs from at the local farmer's market every few weeks ☺️
Absolutely correct about the age of the eggs being the culprit to whether they're difficult or easy to peel. Fresh eggs (young) are more difficult to peel. Eggs that have aged a bit are much easier. My grandfather was a farmer. Ask any farmer, or his wife, and they'll tell you the same thing.
I found this the other day. If you boil your egg, cool them down as normal. (Crack the big end of the egg.) Then, take a container, fill it with water, place the egg inside with a small amount of air, and then shake vigorously. You will see the egg shell start to come off, then take it out of the container and easily peel the rest of the shell off. A jar of a deli container works great. The egg needs room to move.
When I was stationed in Germany, I was introduced to the kiwi fruit. I had never had it before, and my girlfriend at that time, cut it up and put it in a fruit salad. I was amazed at how wonderful it tasted. And then she introduced me to Keewee jelly. It was amazing! Since then, having come back to the United States, I bought Keewee at the grocery store and introduced it to my mother, who had never had it before. She loved it. I, on the other hand, developed hives around my mouth and my tongue swelled up. Somewhere along the line I developed an allergy. I don’t know if I was allergic to the fruit or perhaps an insecticide that was on it. Anyway, I’m glad you’re back. I’ll see this again: when you’re in Wyoming, let me know, and lunch is on me.
You may have developed a latex allergy. It can come on suddenly. Be careful with bananas, and only eat a bit at a time until you're sure you don't react. If you need a bandaid, make sure that you get the non latex kind so that you don't get contact dermatitis.
Agree! I used a rimmed baking sheet and place the baco on a grid to allow the grease to drip off the bacon, 400F for up to 15 min for crispy. When ready remove and plaee bacon on absorbent paper towels
Probably known by many of your subscribers, but it’s my favorite kitchen technique - when cutting an onion, keep the root intact. Slice off the top end, peel, halve, make cross cuts as needed, and then cut perpendicular to get fast, evenly cut onions.
Burnt ends, the crispy part is delicious. Crispy edges of cooked salami or bologna are great. I also like the crispy edges of a well cooked sausage patty
I have used this PB cookie recipe for years! I use white sugar, too. Simply the best cookies ever. No one has ever missed the flour. In fact, no one has ever known it was missing.
Thanks for reminding me that the peanut butter cookie recipe I know that one nerve always use that one but I I use white sugar and not brown sugar I'm going to definitely use the brown sugar this time and thank you for the reminder that is gluten-free for my friends that are gluten intolerant like myself
Here's a hack my wife and I do. First ice brew a gallon of your favorite coffee, place some of the coffee in ice trays and freeze it. Now you can get iced coffee use the coffee ice cubes so it doesn't water down your coffee. You also can add a scoop of your favorite ice cream put it in a blender and you have your own gourmet frappuccino. (Cheaper than Starbucks)
Imma new Zealand person ... In nz we call the fruit 'kiwi fruit' and the bird we call just a 'kiwi'.... One time at some drinks , my vegan friend from over seas was talking about "grabbing kiwis and squishing their guts out and throwing them at the other workers"... everyone else is laughing .. I'm sitting there shocked confused thinking she's talking about kiwi 'birds' I finally clicked ... she meant kiwi 'fruit'
One of my favorite lists. However, using a hand mixer to make mashed potatoes very often turns them into a gluey mess. Hand mashing keeps them from turning to glue. If you want lump free mashed potatoes, use a potato ricer or a food mill. If you are very careful, you can mash potatoes with a hand mixer, but you have mix them for long. Usually, by the time you get your potatoes to lump-free, you have turned your mash into wallpaper paste.
You can also steam your eggs. I found a recipe in a magazine and it works so great. I've never had a problem peeling them since I started steaming them.
You can make muffin mix in a waffle maker as well! Favorite easy dinner meal, Jiffy cornbread mix, makes two waffles, top with honey, fresh made or warmed up chili and cheese. SO YUMMY! And garlic cloves you just have to crack back the opposite direction of the curve and it peels right off! ALSO, I use neither a hand mixer nor a hand blender, I use a drill in my kitchen, yeah, it's a single paddle which won't work for some things, but it works for most I need it for and it's controllable variable speed!
Mike seems high making this one. And I'm here for it. I know he's probably just having fun with and enjoying the making video. This was one of my favorite ones Y'all made.
When you're trying to get an iceberg head of lettuce separated for salad. Wash it and then hit the bottom of the head on a solid surface for a couple times then be able to pull out that hard cord stem out. And you're ready to go.
When I harvest garlic (especially when my children were home, and game nights needed a quicker dinner) I processed and froze tablespoons of garlic. But I blanche the garlic, super easy to peel and not use a microwave (like tomatoes or peaches for peeling) mashed them just a little, and put in the food processor, just a bit of good olive oil, and scoop 1 tbs onto a sheet pan. freeze, then put 10 or so garlic scoops into small bags for a week's prep. ( we like garlic. )
Wow. Didn't know about the hash browns in the waffle maker. Definitely going to try it. Thanks. Not a bacon lover. Have a garlic press, love it. I make whipped potatoes with a hand mixer. Really good. Take care of yourself! This was a fun one!✌️
When cooking chicken or turkey, use streaky bacon as normal but cook the bird on its side. Turn over to the other side half way through, placing more bacon on the now uppermost side. It keeps the moisture in the meat. Basting the bird also helps. My mum cooked her chicken like this and it was amazing!
Pro tip 1: If you’re cooking with garlic the easiest and fastest way to pull of the skin is to separate the cloves and smash them on your cutting board with the side of your knife. Then the skin peels off easily and you can cut the clove up. Pro tip 2: To get garlic smells off your hands wet them with water and rub them on something that’s stainless steel. Rinse and you’re done.
@@list25 should be. I got worried when you said let's peel a Kiwi. 😳. In New Zealand we actually call it kiwi fruit. 🥝 Both words. 😁. See you next list. It was fun today Indeed. Craving ice cream now.
Had great fun while watching. Learned a few a few things too. Thank goodness for the pause button, along with pen and paper. Wow, the old and new working together. Off to the kitchen. Thanks! 👍🐼
I'm definitely going to try cup omelettes, because I will be going on a keto diet soon due to being diagnosed as prediabetic again. Anything that will make that easier will be welcome. I will probably also try the poached egg and egg cups ones too. I'm poor and meat is expensive, so I'll mostly be eating eggs, lol. And yes, I did have fun. I enjoy how genuine you are.
I bite my ice cream too, especially if it's a drum stick or a sandwich or something. Licking it all would be too time consuming. 😂 Plus more time for it to melt in your hands, especially if you're out and about. Then again, I tend to eat quickly anyway, so there's that. Lol Crunchy ground beef. 😊 Don't mind cooking ground beef a little longer where some of the pieces are slightly overcooked/well-done. I'd rather have that than floppy or "rare done" meats. Really fun video. Learned a lot while laughing and smiling like an idiot. 😅
Hate to say I told ya so, Mike, but yep, I like some kinds of meat crispy and crunchy... lol I love crunchy bacon and sausage breakfast patties with a crunchy crust on them, yum! 😋 Also, thanks so much for giving me a good laugh; I loved it! 😆 That shirt looks really cute, too, in your previous vid...! Plus, nice touch with the Dr Pepper one in this one! 😉
Boiled egg hack. Crack the shells before you put them in the ice bath and let them cool for at least 15 minutes before trying to peel. It works for me! Also ..the fresher the egg the harder they are to peel 😊
