Looks like someone was trying to maximize brightness by jumpering the resistor at r500.

Do you keep caps on hand, and if so, what brand do you recommend? I know Arcade Parts sells Nichicon.. but I haven't been able to find a kit like I've seen on Amazon so I can keep caps on hand! This video also made me wonder what parts you typically check -- I'm noticing resistors, diodes, then replace caps, reflow, and reset pots - which usually solves the problem. I'd be curious to see what other parts you recommend checking for common issues. I got in a bad habit of replacing transistors because I didn't know how to test them (which just seemed to introduce more problems!). Curious what your thoughts are.. Also, you should do a Q&A at the end of each video! :)

Yes, I keep all the most common ones on hand. Ordered a bunch in bulk from APAR and I keep them in an organizer on the bench. You basically check all transistors/mosfets the same. It’s just Base\Collector\Emitter in diode mode on the meter. Only difference is which way you have your leads. Look it up and you’ll see what I mean. A Q&A might not be a bad idea.
