During the past few years I've been lucky enough to record various different F1 cars equipped by all kind of engines, from V6 to V12s, but also the glorious V10s and the iconic Cosworth DFV 3.0 V8, which powered F1 cars from 1967 to 1983, being the most used engine ever in the maximum motorsport series, and even the most winning one
This video is dedicated in fact to some of the F1s powered by this engine I recorded in the last couple of years, including some propers piece of history, such as the Lotus 72E, which won the 1973 constructors' championship, or even the Williams FW07B, that took the Australian Alan Jones to the top of the world in 1980
The Cosworth DFV 3.0 V8 won a total of 155 F1 races, with 12 driver's championships and 10 constructors' championship, powering glorious teams such as Williams, McLaren, Brabham, Lotus and many more
In 1984 Cosworth unveiled an evolution of the DFV 3.0 V8, with the DFY being a slight upgrade which eventually wasn't enough to compete at the top level, also thanks to the introduction of the new turbo engines, which were way faster then the DFY
Cosworth F1's heritage continued with the DFZ and DFR, but just as its predecessor both of those engines weren't enough to stay at the first places, and less teams were using the Cosworths in F1 compared to the past
With the V10s introduction, Cosworth unveiled a brand new engine, which was eventually used by one or two teams per season, with the last win for the British manufacturer being clinched by Giancarlo Fisichella at Interlagos 2003 with the Jordan EJ13
Another rules change in 2006 lowered the number of cylinder from 10 to 8, with the exception of Toro Rosso, that used the V10s for the last time, with a Cosworth engine as well
From 2007 to 2009 Cosworth had not powered any F1 cars, coming back in 2010 with a brand new V8 that was fitted just in the Williams and in the new low-budget teams that made their debut that year, like HRT, Caterham and Marussia, with the Russian squad being the last two use a Cosworth engine in Brazil 2013
