I’m impressed. There were several moments when you could have gone for shock value, but you skipped the gory unnecessary details and kept it classy and unbiased. A rare internet trait. Subscribed.
Born in 1991 Like.. wow crazy historical times we're living/lived in , even til this day! Monarchy change, pandemics, technological advances, Mars, electric cars..etc.the list goes on!
Really love John Candy so much, and was incredibly sad when he passed away. I just watched him in Uncle Buck yesterday on Netflix, but my all-time favorite movie of his is Planes, Trains, and Automobiles ❤
@susanrobinson910 Both great movies! He was my sister's favorite when we were kids, and she watched both of these movies weekly. The Great Outdoors was good, also.
For me, one of the most iconic tragedies happened in the Baltic Sea when HMS Estonia sank, killing 852 of approx 989 people onboard (none knows for sure) and promoted a change in the law to always have an accurate list of how many people were onboard at any given moment. My fave teacher at the time almost went onboard but her husband got sick the night before and so they were saved.
I live in Norway, and we hosted the winter-olympics in 94. And I must mention the horrific Estonia-disaster, which also happened in 94. That was a passenger-ferry, who sank with 852 souls. Most of the passengers were from Estonia and Sweden.
The 1990s was my favorite decade. I would love to relive it. My sister sang in a rock band, and I made several new friends (I thought would last a lifetime). My mother lived up to and through most of 1999. I had a dog, a parrot and raised cockatiels. I had a job I could tolerate and comfortable living conditions.
👋👋Love the share😊. How about a 25 list about you🤔. Sounds like a great memory confused by an unfortunate event. Want to remember it as good, but because it was a sad time it puts shade on it.
I remember hearing about Princess Dianna my first day of my grade 12 year. I heard about her death when I was getting ready for school on the radio. We didn't have cable at that time because we just moved to Cold Lake AB from Winnipeg MB and didn't have anything set up yet. Everyone was talking about her demise at school that day. Going to a new school was already pretty awful so sadly Dianna's death is permanently etched in my memory.
*My hubby and I still have our Super Nintendo hooked up!* 😉 I’ve only played DK Country and Zelda- Link to the Past. And when my hubby found out I never played Mario, he bought it 😁
C’mon Mike fact check, the “faulty mirror” didn’t delay the launch of The Hubble Telescope. The mirror issue wasn’t discovered until it was in orbit and sent it’s first fuzzy images which was corrected by a Shuttle Mission adding corrective optics.
You did the 90s which is my high school and Junior High now you're doing the eighties which is my air I love the most I got my Nintendo my Super Nintendo do keep coming up with us I was so happy when you return bro I was born in nineteen seventy-nine celebrating my birthday on Monday when I turned 44
@9:37 The reincarnated dog movie is "Fluke." The night Princess Diana died, I remember my Dad, Brother and I came back from watching "Dumb and Dumber" at a small, local theater and Mom was watching the heartbreaking news unfolding.
Ahhhh, Y2K. I successfully lobbied for the purchase of a generator that would run our household's major systems in the event of the breakdown of the national grid that was predicted. The grid survived but my generator has been a valuable asset during the major power outages that have occurred, largely due to winter storms. Thank you Y2K.
Don't care if the President was doing what every powerful person was doing. The economy was great! So sad about Diana😔. So sad what is happening to the Royal Fanily. Soooooo tired of Harry Potter. Daniel Radcliff is a good actor in his own right. Mike, yoir videos are marvelous. Very informative. Thanks! Hope all is well!
Operation Underground Railroad (Tim Ballards organization) - International Justice Mission - THORN - ECPAT International - Polaris project - Love146 - Child Rescue Coalition - National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
I remember taking the recommendation of a video store client who already knew about Harry Potter because she had teen-aged children, so I snagged a copy of the first Harry Potter book
Video games were at an all-time high in the 1990's; but J.K. Rowling managed to get kids to put down the video games and open a book as a form of entertainment.
I was on the freeway going in the opposite direction as OJ Simpson's decidedly LOW speed chase. My friend and I first saw a phalanx of helicopters, then we saw a veritable army of police cars, and then finally we saw the white Bronco. People were pulling onto the freeway in both directions, and parking, hopping out of their cars and waving signs that were very supportive of OJ. A friend and I were on our way to a concert, and although we had left in plenty of time to get dinner before the show, we ended up almost being late because traffic was so backed up.
OJ should have been #1. The trial and saga was the 90s. Other missing ones of note Columbine The birth of reality TV And would consider OKC to be a separate instance from the terrorism one because it was the first noteworthy homegrown terrorist saga. I cant think of any more. You did a good job with your list
1990 Poll tax riots Trafalgar Square central London , 1992 destruction of part of Windsor Castle by fire and 1995 Brixton riots southeast London . Why didn't any of these make the list ?
SIMPSON DID IT & GOT OFF TALK ABOUT THE JUSTICE SYSTEM FAILING AS ALWAYS.. PRINCESS DIANA WAS ASSASSINATED ALSO & LIFE DID & STILL EXISTS ONLY THE INHABITANTS HAVE TO LIVE UNDERGROUND NOW..
And because of the fact it Was televised, we will Never know whether he was Truly guilty or not. I could understand Closed Circuit cameras for those who could Not attend, but this case Proves the argument as Why you should not have cameras in the courtroom. Judge Itto basically became a Reffery. The Nealsons dictated what questions were asked to what the lawyers for both sides wore. Still surprised they didn't up 800 or 900 numbers for people to call as Tellejurors. Plus with how this trial was So Nealsonned, could Really fault a Witness if they Puruored themself, or someone did Not want to be a juror no matter How lame their reasoning was.
I remember watching Waco live, but what also disgusting was Hollywood making a dramatized TV movie *as it was still happening* starring Tim Daly from the show Wings. I refused to watch it OR anything with Daly after that. I felt it was like vultures tearing at the flesh before the animal was dead. It proved just how low a popular industry will go to make a buck.
I’m only three minutes into the video and I’ve already caught you on to miss information. First of all the third back to the future movie came out in 1990. Second of all the Disney renaissance begin in 1989 with the Little mermaid, not 1991.
1:19 I was the weird SEGA kid who called it "Super-NES" 3:15 lemme guess. You're that one family member who knows *every* single Disney song and sings along with them much to everyone's chagrin. Also your top 3 are *all* from Pocahontas for some odd reason.
My top Disney songs are probably all from Encanto right now lol. Maybe Moana and Frozen. I do love belting them out in the car lol. I may or may not have a playlist on Spotify
6:46 ummm, Nicole did not die after being stabbed. Her throat was slashed from ear to ear and very deeply to the point of near decapitation. It took a great deal of hatred for the murderer to slash her throat like that. Say what you will about the verdict, but you have to face the truth, that level of hatred leads to its own conclusions. Everyone knows that Nicole and Ron did not get Justice.
*My hubby and I still have our Super Nintendo hooked up!* 😉 I’ve only played DK Country and Zelda- Link to the Past. And when my hubby found out I never played Mario, he bought it 😁
I was born in 1976, so I am a bit old(er), yet I can’t imagine what life would be like without the internet…I still remember getting this weird thing called Ethernet in college in 1995 that made it easier to look up what articles/books the University library had before going there to photocopy stuff. Saved SO much time on research papers
@@manueltapia1859 Completely agree with you. I still prefer actual paper-bound books instead of a screen, too. From seeing the “birth of the digital age” until now, things have changed so much…
Well, be ready to live without it all soon. America will be brought to absolute desolation. None of the things you all surround yourselves with will be dissolved and destruction will abound upon all men and women.
@manueltapia1859 internet portrayed itself as good but now we see what it really was. I'm only here to tell all of you that the coming destruction is very soon and it won't be like anything you've all seen before. Your worst nightmares will be manifest.
Lived through 13 different Presidents, some good, some bad, some... evil. Watched as 3 astronauts died on the pad and 2-1/2 years later we walked on the moon. Cronkite broadcasting the daily body counts from Vietnam. Woodstock. Beatles (they aren't all that). Cuban missile crisis, both Kennedys & MLK's assassinations, My Lai, first Black man on the Supreme Court, Super Bowl 1, Roe v Wade, Billie Jean King, holy shit there's a lot over 65 years. 😶
In Serbia it was the dark ages, inflicted on others and self-inflicted. Wars, darkness, madness, sanctions. But the most beautiful thing also happened to me - my son arrived, in '98.
You mentioned that Kirk Cobain died in 1994 which was a tragedy to the music world. But also Justin Bieber was born in 1994. Which also was a major traded to the music world! 😂
The Port Arthur Massacre that occurred on 28-4-1996, where 35 people were killed and another 23 wounded, was without doubt one of the most iconic events of the 1990s.
As a thirty something working in offices, typewriters were giving way to computer screens. Still had paper files, but printed by a computer on a printer, not typed by hand....so much for the paperless office...still the case, not totally paperless. Still had to lug files around, on a trolley, even in 1997. 😁🤣
I was ages 16 to 26 in the 90’s…talk about life shifting times…. I almost died a few times but I made it out. I’ll be 50 next year and I’m amazed I made it. Thanks for this flashback list. ❤ on another note, when Princess Diana died my best friend called me in the middle of the night screaming and crying that the Princess was dead. We are Americans, and we still loved her that much.
