Actually, Victoria Woodhall was the first woman presidential candidate in the US, not Shirley Chisholm, as remarkable as she was. In April 1870, Woodhull wrote a letter to the editor of the New York Herald announcing her candidacy. It was published on On April 2, 1870. She was nominated for President by the newly-formed Equal Rights Party on May 10, 1872, at Apollo Hall in NYC.

There are many more Dido Empress of Carthage , Bodicea Queen of the Iceni , Emilene Pankhurst and other women of the suffrage movement in the UK , Margaret Thatcher first female Prime Minister of the UK , Queen Mary , Queen Victoria , Both Queen Elizabeth the First and Second , Joan of Arc just to name a few .

My great-grandfather started a trucking business. At the beginning, it was wagons, of course, not trucks. By the time I arrived, it was trucks large and small. Grandfather died when I was 5 1/2 and grandmother took over the business. From that time until I was 14, grandmother owned and operated a trucking business. She always told me to be a doctor or lawyer or engineer. Admiral Grace Murray Hopper inspired me to follow a computer programming and engineering career.

What about Eliza Schuyler-Hamilton? Eliza is the one who kept her husband Alexander Hamilton‘s legacy alive and she’s the person that created the first orphanage in New York City and she raised funds for the Washington monument that we have today and the orphanage in New York City is still up and running till this day so I hope you guys agree with me?

I remember doing a report on Elizabeth Blackwell in the 5th grade and since then I've had a soft spot for her. I also admire Ida B Wells, Bessie Coleman, Sybil Ludington, Valerie Taylor, Cleopatra (f Octavian), Virginia Hall, Mamie Till, and many others.

Well first mother Theresa herself was a terrible person & I always get kinda salty when i think about rosa parks story. Not her, she was fine, but the young black woman who refused to give up heat seat before rosa parks did. But the press(?) didn't want her as the spokesperson because she was an unwed mother (i think, please correct me if im wrong or have more info)

Thank you for emphasizing that it was hard to choose 25 women 😍 Back in those days, it was harder to stand up for something, but they made it possible for women later on to feel free.. Issues with this list: Coco Chanel was a not-see sympathizer and informant. She has slept with a not-see officer and there’s many articles about it and books. (One the you addressed) Mother Teresa was a con artist. She saw people’s suffering as a strength and her sanitation of her soup kitchen and hospice wasn’t the greatest. None of her staff was medically trained to help those with terminal illnesses and she didn’t care for them under her watch. She made over 30$ million dollars through donations but didn’t use hot water for those in her care and used freezing water. Again, many articles and a documentary that came out in 1994. She even accepted donations and medals from those who have committed atrocities. Rosalind Franklin’s work was stole and the two bad mouth her after her death. Which is super well known and should have been mentioned. And for those who have read this: Margret Thatcher’s policies cause many issues in Northern England and Ireland. Queen Elizabeth didn’t like her because of her insensitivity. And the Falklands war.

Rosalind Franklin's work was used to discover the double helix, though she herself never discovered it. Where she was really snubbed was in not winning a nobel prize for biology at a time where prizes could be awarded after someone's death despite being an equal player in the discovery as Watson, Crick, and Wilkins were

Thank you for including so many important women of color who most people don't know about. While there are so many important women in history, too many to include on a list of 25. Honorably mention should be given to women like Margaret Sanger, Greta Thunberg, Mamie Till, Rosa Parks, Florence Nightingale and that "Grand" woman the Statue of Liberty. However, you included two women that (I think) should not have made your list. Coco Chanel was not only a Nazis sympathizer during the war but she dated and openly promoted the Nazis ideology and all that it encompasses. And Mother Teresa who in my opinion was one of the biggest hypocrites in history. At one point she had accesses to millions of dollars but she wouldn't use it for the sick and suffering in her care because she believed one had to suffer to go to heaven. BUT when she became ill she had no problem getting good medical care for herself. And thank you for not including Susan B. Anthony! The Suffrage leader who fought for women to have the right to vote (and by extension equal treatment). She publicly stated "I would rather lose my right arm then see women of color have the right to vote"

Dian Fossey and her study of the mountain gorilla in the African country of Rwanda one of her her favorites was a silverback she'd named Digit due to him losing a finger . Both were killed within weeks of each other , Digit by poachers and Dian probably by the same group although nothing was confirmed about her death . Dian was played by Sigourney Weaver in the film Gorillas In The Mist .

Elizabeth the Queen. She brought in the Golden Age for England. This led to the spreading to the English as the biggest international language and the rise of the Empire. Globalization, international relations and so much more are what they are because of her.

Another woman who did a lot for women is margaret ruppand who founded Is pepper Ridge Farm compand she did on accident? She was just trying to find a healthy. Whole grain bread that tastes good for a son with allergies. However, not only did she make it successful, but she also hired only women in her factories long before this was seen as okay or normal

Hundreds of women did more for the world than "Mother" Teresa. Picking her insults at least 23 of the others on your list. Read The Missionary Position: Mother Teresa in Theory and Practice by Christopher Hitchens. She kept most of the money she raised and withheld any pain medication or medical treatments from the residents in her crowded, unsanitary hospices. Indra Gandhi may have been a good leader for India, but I was there during one of her elections and planned to visit a wildlife area. The usual temporary housing for visitors was fenced off and crowded with voters and members of her opposition party, so they couldn't vote against her. As you said, there are many other famous women to choose from and you should have.

But did a lot for america margaret post who was the second corporate owner of post serial company And she also turned post into a food con alumerant cause I. Wanna write in which you'll buy out clarence Birds eye business of frozen foods which he built from the ground up and she helped install refrigerator and frefrigerators and freezers in every store she laid the groundwork for frozen foods

Mike please look up Nancy Ward she's the Pocahontas of TN and a very Amazing woman and you wouldn't believe the contributions she made to Cherokee society and she one of the most amazing women you likely never read about in history books and her cousin Dragging canoe was considered the Cherokee Napoleon and trained Tecumseh and I'm sorry but I'll agree to disagree with #25 and #20 I have no respect for chanel she was a Nazi sympathizer..but please look up Nancy Ward you might like her she's pretty amazing

Mike you'd need a part 2-200 there's just too many to list...I have several ancestors who could be on this list besides Nancy Ward the one I mentioned.. there's also incredible film actresses that were Me too women before it was a movement I had a cousin who went to Hollywood in the late 30s early 40s she was my grandpa's second cousin Linda Darnell you should look her up but she lost movie rolls because she wouldn't sleep her way to the top and she was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside my grandpa and his dad told me and she was a noted philanthropist too and sadly died tragically in a house fire but what few know is she passed helping a kid from a burning building I'd say she probably would fit this list too or a honorable mention..
