I was a child in Scientology. I only managed to escape the cult when I left home at 18. This has left a huge void in my family relationships for over 30 years. As sad as this is...I’m so glad to out of it grips.
It is great that you're out. I'm saying that and it sounds like I'm talking about prison. But the things I have seen and the stories I have heard of ex-scientologists are very sad. Money is the only goal this cult has. And we cant serve God and money.
I was part of the NARCONON drug rehab program many years ago in Midrand, Johannesburg. WHAT A JOKE!! Was treated so badly that relapsing wasnt an option -was to scared to go back. Managed to have them closed down though 💪💪💪👊👊👊
I was a member of the Sea Org, the elite celebrity center members. I was there for about one year and the scary indescribable insanity I saw allowed me enough presence of mind to escape. Yes, I said escape. Once I escaped (known to the church as “blowing”) I was hunted by the church. They would call all the people who knew me and sent people looking for me at places they suspected I would be. They even called family members many states away demanding I return because “I’m in a dangerous mind set and may kill myself” as told to my family by the church, none of it true. This church is very dangerous to all its members, society and even their elite members such as Tom Cruise, the thing is, they don’t even know it. They are absolutely interested only in money and power and control over celebrities.
I was in it for more then a year. The tech is ok the organization has become or maybe always was all about control and money and will stop at nothing to contol its memebrs including blackmail brainwashing suppression by disconnecting its quite frightening how sone people will stop at nothing and do anything for "freedom" i just wish thay knew that true freedom dose not include suppressing ones own mind, desires, inner voice not will you be free if you throw people under the bus...
I mean if it's so bad that you had to "escape" though, can't you go to the cops at a certain point? If they're that obsessed with members they would try to like hunt people down. Most people don't describe leaving a church as "escaping", if you literally had to escape though then the more people who report them the better I would think. I've heard they run disciplinary camps and everything, especially for kids, that use violence and starvation among other methods... I just wish they could get a proper investigation into it and start throwing some of these people behind bars.
Well now, I have one of the most interesting stories of trying to become a Scientologist. I was accepted to the Celebrity Center, being involved in Hollywood, and signed up for some classes, books costing $160 to start. When in class for about a week, I noticed a pattern in the text, kinda like a brainwashing technique, like Leah has expressed several times. So I asked. WRONG thing to do. The Monitor smiled, tapped me on the shoulder, escorted me out of class, I was thinking I was advancing already, and showed me the door! Yes, folks, I was kicked out of Scientology, I guess for having a curious normal brain. And I asked the wrong question... when I worked with Tom Cruise on one of his films, I told him this story after he pitched and tried to recruit me into Scientology. He was SHOCKED! He said h'd vouch for me to get me back in, I kindly said no thanks. He immediately hopped in his souped up golf cart and ride away. I guess the conversation was over, huh? I did get a refund on my books though! But I did have an acquaintance state that she was held against her will for several hours at the Celebrity Center in a locked private room. She was scared. It was a Sea Orb Worker that snuck her out. Scary shit.
It seems like they are straight from the pit of hell. They hate questions because what they did to you when you did was like a threat to them. They probably thought that your questions wouldnt stop there had they left you to stay and they dont take very well to questions. Be happy that you're out. You still have a sober mind and you are not indoctrinated.
Yes, a friend of mine had Scientologists free-loading in her house, eating all her food and forcing her son to sign some terrifying contract. It was worthless but she was very intimidated by them.
My husband worked at a place that was a block from the Clearwater location... my friend and I were walking to a starbucks a few blocks down. When were crossed the street into what would be scientology property, a drone appear above us. My friend was freaking out, she was unaware of their tactics and paranoia. She nervously called her mom: "mom remember the Donald Sutherland scene in invasion of the body snatchers? That's what it feels like right now!" Everyone in uniform - part of the sea org division of the church was glance up and watching us. We made it to Starbucks and back - I flipped off the drone and it left. The sea org division work the hotel there from around 5-6 am until midnight. Are bussed back and forth to apartments - near where my husband lived. Which was fenced with cameras all over. Very 1984 Orwellian
Yes, I am familiar with scientology. My family were members. I never took a course but went to a private scientology school in Oregon. My sister was the hardest to get out of scientology. It got to the point were my parents were going to have to hire people to get her out of the there. It never came to that because she signed an affidavit saying she won't talk about what happened while she was in their presence. That was back in the seventies. I'm 58 now and I remember. I was 13 when my parents left me at the school. I never felt so alone.
If Charlie Manson thinks your place is nuts, you know something is wrong. Also, to go with the Groucho Marx quote, "I would never join a club that would have me as its member". =D
Me & my girlfriend at the time, took one of their tests at a center in downtown Boston. Scientology was actively recruiting people off the street. This would have been around 1973. We were approached on the street by Scientologists and asked if we'd like to take a test that would change our lives. We both took the test and were interviewed afterward. They wanted to recruit my girlfriend badly but hardly gave me a second glance. We both walked away in disgust. I wonder what they had discovered that caused them to so vehemently reject me? Very definitely a good thing, whatever it was.
I used to live 2 miles away from Gold Base in San Jacinto. I passed that place all the time. While I lived there, I looked around the area on Google Maps. Saw some weird names in one area, and I did more research, and that's how I learned that Scientology is a thing, and I was living next door to its headquarters.
0.) Lisa McPherson, was a member that tried to escape, was detained under guard while she suffered until she died. Church of Scientology was indicted on two felony charges, "abuse and/or neglect of a disabled adult" and "practicing medicine without a license.
My sister was a member years ago and tried to get me enlisted into it. I had to take an introductory "class" which was a video like the ones you see entering a new job. After that I took a "test" questionnaire and then had a Scientology member review my "results" with me...and for only $49.99 I could improve my test scores!!!! I laughed and never went back!
I was approached by a couple I knew in the 80s. They gave me a book and I tried to read it, but none of it made logical sense to me. Our friendship dissolved after my rejection of Scientology. This happened in Cheyenne Wyoming.
I briefly became involved 20 yrs ago going to LA...Within a couple of days I left because I couldn't stop laughing at their BS!! To this day I still receive 3/4 letters a week..;-)) At this rate they'll go bust with those kinda postage costs for the countless people who saw through it! I liked the idea originally of doing 'good' for the planet etc...what a joke!
If you want to do good you just start it, you don't need a program. Go and help your friends and others in need, or do what you think is good for your environment. Or just don't hurm is already enough :D
I've tried many times to get off the mailing list, unsuccessfully. Every move I've had they keep finding me, somehow. It's a total waste of postage. I simply have no interest anymore but don't want to be an enemy because the consequences are horrifying.
It used to give me the creeps when I worked in Clearwater, FL. Many of the buildings downtown are owned by the COS and they had members shadow strangers right from the pubic parking lots to wherever they were going. Several times I would see the same person waiting for me outside when I left to return to my car. Sometimes they would try to start a conversation but mostly just followed me at a short distance.
I took one of their personality tests in the late 70s. They showed me what was wrong with me and how they could fix it. It didn't take long to see that they just wanted my money.
Mike, you are my hero for today. Thank you for have the crazy bravery to take on the most insane people in the world. I was so hoping you would do it, but watch out. Those lunatics are now hiding in your bushes and going through your garbage. You get 1000 points for this and for your general hotness. I still, and always, love your face. Xoxo.
They do all of these terrible things and wonder why people hate them. Say what you will about mainstream religion, but at least most of them encourage their members to be better people, and not to ruin the lives of others.
In 1978 I joined NARCONON. It was an Oakland, CA based house with 2 allegedly Clear directors. For $200.00 you could move in. Friday nights the entire staff took all of the patients to a bar and we all got drunk, went back to the facility and had sex, talked crazy and it was really nuts. At one point ,a older patient molested the 6 year old boy of one of the staff members. I eventually left with the secretary. She had become my girlfriend and we did a lot of drugs and harm to each other after we left. The whole episode at NARCONON lasted about a month. They tried auditing me but I could not see the sense in it. I understand the "E Meter" circuit and I did not believe valid information could be derived from auditing. Sad and scary to learn that NARCONON is still around. The one I was affiliated with was overseen by the San Francisco Org. Much more is known today about drug addiction. NARCONON was trying something new. But taking addicts to a bar and getting the drunk and partying was bad.
No. But I live in Clearwater. They let one of my residents in the apartments I managed in the 1990s. The medical examiner said she died of dehydration and starvation. Not long after that, the medical examiner disappeared, her name was Joan Wood. The resident’s name was Lisa McPhearson you should check it out. There were stories about it in the newspapers in the 1990s. I know more than I would care to. I have to say if any Scientologist reads this, stay the hell away from me. I DO NOT tolerate bullies!
Back in 1985, some guy stopped at my home a few days after I got a 19,000 volt shock. He said that he was driving by and sensed that I heeded help in the form of emotional support. I have no idea hoe he heard about what happened as it was never reported on the news or anywhere else. H gave me a number to call when I needed to talk to someone. I called several times and all they did was ask for money. I had lost my job. Who has money? I finally gave up and sought professional help. I still suffer from emotional and physical effects, but, at least I didn't get trapped in this fraud.
I was awoken at 3 AM by my two dogs howling from outside. It was raining, but, they had shelter. There was a bright flash from across the road. I opened the door and one dog came in, but, the other was under my car. When I pulled him out, the pole lit up again. What I was told is that the ties that held the lines to the insulators were breaking and they were told for two years to "study the problem". The electricity jumped across the transformer to the line to my meter pole, down the guy wire and across the ground in the water. It was a 19,000 volt line and the manager of the electric company said that with the path it took, I got the full voltage. It didn't even feel like electricity. It felt like a bomb going off inside me. It killed my dog. I was left with very bad PTSD and damaged nerves which I have to this day. Thank you for asking.
Sorry if this sounds ungrateful for your concern. I'm actually not. It's just that I went through so much suffering that I don;t consider myself lucky to have survived. I'm in constant pain and still have PTSD. There's worse things than death. Thank you for your comment, anyway. You're good people.
You don't sound ungrateful at all! I get you, I honestly do. I have cancer, and pain has become a constant friend. But please, hang in there! I'm pulling for you!
As someone who has suffered another kind of nerve damage affliction-RSD/CRPS-Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy/Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and -PTSD-and a TBI, Traumatic Brain Injury-as a result of a violent car crash that killed my soulmate husband and two of my children(one from each of two sets of twins,18 & 12 yrs.of age at the time) and left those who kept breathing critically injured and in massive shock laying on the California Interstate Freeway-5, at 3 in the morning, (we had been driving down I-5 to my oldest daughter’s wedding in Malibu). We were sideswiped by a two-trailer semi who’s driver didn’t even realize he had hit us- for well over 23 years I am totally sympathetic to your plight in trying to be positive about being alive and always facing incredible and unpredictable pain daily. It can suck big time!!! Please know there are those of us who understand and do care and 🙏🏼pray for you to find some kind of peace and joy in your life. I hope you have somebody who actually does understand and does give you credit for choosing to live over checking-out because you are really heroic!!!
I've always been skeptical of Scientology, always seemed strange to me. But I didn't really know how insane it really is until I watched Leah Remini's show where she's exposing all the stuff that goes on behind closed doors [EX - physical, mental and sexual abuse, odd deaths etc]. Definitely gotta commend Leah for continuing to speak out against Scientology and exposing them for what they truly are [a cult].
This girl I met totally tried to recruit me into Scientology on our first date. I played along just to see how much of a cult it was. I won’t be going back.
Back in the early '80s in Sacramento I was almost recruited into one of their offices they've tried to get me to sign up for some initiation course getting me to admit that my life was far from perfect and they could get me on to the right path and they wouldn't let me leave until I signed up but of course I started to get really antsy and I almost got violent but it was not fun let me tell you
The Germany fact and the Manson fact should have been #2 and #1 respectively. Having the country that was at one time home of, well you know, and one of the craziest people ever black ball scientology says it all.
If a country decides something is wrong with a "religion" and it just bans it, it must have a reason. I also heard about job positions at the german government where you have to confirm that you haven't had any course or membership, otherwise you don't get the job.
I watched a documentary by the father of David Miscavige and all that he had to go through to escape with his life. It must be easier to escape from prison that that place!
Watch the series about Scientology by Leah Remini on Netflix. Based on that, I suspect the building is just for show and very little is happening there. The bigger danger is the organization itself and the risk of them sucking in the unaware.
I live about 10 minutes down the street from the "Gold" Base. The main highway out of town cuts the compound in half. Scientology has tried force the county to shut it down but of course they arent going to because like i said its the main road that leads to the nearest freeways some 15 miles away from town....
Halsted Willoughby I am not sure, but their security team thinks they are some kinda crack commando unit or something. They bully people who may have the unfortunate flat tire or other car problems and break down on the public road that passes through the compound
Tinker Hell Actually i live in Hemet but right off State and Florida lol.. right now I'm at work in San Jacinto on State and Esplanade working security sitting in my car bored lol
A number of years ago, I was approached in the street by a guy trying to push Scientology. I told him I wasn't interested. He followed me everywhere until I threatened to call the police.
I went to the MK Ranch in New Mexico. They lied to my parents and said I was getting Ethics Intensives (12 1/2 hours per intensive) they paid for 5 at $5000 dollars a peice. All we did was hang around and talk and clean the kitchen and go on course ( school and Scientology courses) they got ripped off.
In the summer of 1976 I was 22 years of age. While driving on Vermont Ave. in the Los Feliz district of L.A. I saw a pretty, young blond girl who looked about my age, walking down the other side of the street, so I and pulled a u-turn, drove up besides her, stopped, and ask her ,if she wanted a ride. She got into my van, and we fell into small talk and hit it off. I drove her back to her work at the "Celebrity Scientology Center." I had never even heard of Scientology. We got together a few days later in my van and drove the short distance to Griffith Park, parked and she seduced me. It turns out she was married to a Scientogist. All she ever said about Scientology was that she worked 12 to 14 hours a day, lived in a small room at the center, got paid nothing, and lived on the rice and beans they were served for food. She didn't seem to like being there but felt trapped because of her finances. She was a good lover and we had a lot of fun that summer of 1976. It was a casual, friends-with-benefits type relationship, until I had to go back to school in the fall. I always wonder what ever happened to Laura. She was such a nice, young woman.
There is a common myth/rumor in science fiction circles that there was a bet between Robert Heinlein and Hubbard that the latter could invent a religion and get rich from it. I have heard that one several times from different sources.
I heard another story that it was Harlan Ellison who witnessed the exchange about getting rich by starting a religion when both he and Hubbard were in the Hydra Club together in 1947
I have a story about Scientology, and it's kinda crazy! I'm going to turn 72 in 10 days, and I joined Scientology back in the mid-'70s. I have dealt with epilepsy and bipolar disorder my entire life, and back in the '70s, the public wasn't aware of their stand on psychiatric medication (they're against it!) They told me I had to stop taking them. So, I did. Then I started having problems with controlling my depression and when I got manic. The mania was the worst part of it, and I guess they didn't like me very much after that. I played their game by their rules, and six months after I joined, they kicked me out. I was too crazy for them. I've run into several people who experienced the same thing, and we ALL agree, it was a genuine blessing in disguise!
I've never liked Scientology. How can people be so stupid to believe such and put themselves through the ringer like that? Why hasn't there been a revolt from the inside? There's more to the story. It's so ethically and morally wrong, how can anyone not rise up against it en mass? N Mike keep your head up, I don't want those crazies messing with you for "bashing" them. I'll keep you in my prayers brother.
I'm pretty sure the reason why there is no revolt, if you research, is because they send you off to a punishment center to be reconditioned and questioned and punished. A lot of the people inside have no money because they've signed their life away to this place, and they get no exposure to the outside world whatsoever. Anyone found being negative in ANY way to the cult of scientology is harassed and the government won't and can't do a damn thing about it.
It is an embarrassment to america in a sense. It's unlikely that such an organisation like this would succeed but it did. Many people try to avoid reality. Regular people can become cruel during wartime that's one. The other is the religious side where people again can do anything. They aren't really normal when in these scenarios. Islam is an example of where religious sense-morphing happens on a large scale. If you fly airplanes into skyscrapers it clearly is not a normal act or can be seen as a religious expression. At times both war insanity and religious insanity is packed in the same mind and we get ISIS. Don't forget the people inside World Trade Centre. Don't forget the people locked inside the german governments extermination camps 1940-45.
Yeah religious freedom and a tradition of entrepreneurship work together. For guns and religions it must be freedom held strict within the law of the land.
Yeah well, airplanes are too weak to crash into buildings. Their frames are too light to do that. Military facts 101. So yeah, those buildings are rigged to explode and unfortunate group of people get framed. Its like people conveniently forgot that there are also Muslim victims that died there. Blindly agreeing to media is the best way to get people into stuff like Scientology which is just the work of a very convincing author that can't be proven in any scientific way, which is ironic because of the name. In Islam however, science found more and more research about the world is proven in the Quranic verse which are over a thousand years older than science but since modern people are too dumb to the way ancient verses work, they simply say the Quran is false because they don't think any further than that which is funny because they are usually people who don't do research but blindly agree and disagree without knowing what the heck they are agreeing or disagreeing on. So can't really blame why scholars often ended up agreeing with Islam. ISIS are false Muslim that use religion as an excuse to do harm and brainwash children to join them much like the Nazi. Just like Klu Klux Klan. They are false but convincing and those who ended there are either desperate people or idiots who can't think for themselves. Psychopaths are charming and charismatic as much as they are manipulative and convincing liars. So leaders of such groups are mostly psychopathic in personality. Psychopathic study 101. Then there are sociopaths who will only look after themselves who wants the money but not the work. Put these two groups together and give them brain and money and you get these destructive groups.
Be careful to find the fine line between what is actually Islam and what is simply Muslim culture. Although the two compliment each other, it's not as though everything Muslims do is because of Religion, but it's easy to look at it all in that way.
when I was living in Toronto, I was asked if I wanted a free test. My mom ran over to us, rolled me away and told me not to talk to them. These days I troll them.
@@branon6565 You have a iq of a one year old!!! Just like your daddy trump !!! All that comes out of his mouth is b.s. just like You !!! Your vocabulary speaks for itself!!! Go back to kindergarten and learn a better vocabulary it might make you look smart!!! HaHaHa!!!! LMAO !!! 😂😂😂😂😂
You were close on Xenu story. They flew over volcanoes in their ships (which looked like 1950s style passenger jets) dropped them in then blew them up with atomic bombs.
Well the creator of Scientology was a science fiction writer. The 'religion' is proof! True or false it has been said Hubbard did say creating a religion is actually easy.
A load of complete fruitcake s. If these members ever hassellel me , as indeed . anybody iknewi know would be met with an obsticle. a friend who joined 20 yearsago became dissolutioned, tried to leave. As other PEOPLE have said they follow hassel. Intimidate, etc etc. Fortunately this person. had a family and indeed very tough friends. Who came to his aid. The intimidators had a rude awakening. Were met by this guys friends on many occasions explaining they were the ones who would have a serious problem. I beleive they pick on weak and gulluble people. Typical bullies. In fact my friend didnt have enough finiance 4 them to continue. What id like to know why does the americian. government allow them to continue.
I'm so cheap, I would never join an organization that wants my money💰. Why would I give them my money💰? It makes as much sense as flushing my money down⬇ the toilet🚽😫
