Nobody talks about Abraham Lincoln wrestling prion zombies, everyone wants to discuss Lincoln's vampire hunter day, nobody talks about Lincoln's prion, zombie wrestling days
The Vikings traded ivory for iron with the distant cousins of the Inuit people. When europeans first made contact, they were already familiar with Iron tools.
And it's not spelled wrong it's improper grammar improper sentence structure and just illiteracy illiteracy illiteracy it's unnecessary uncalled for really but now I'm just ranting about semantics anyways have a great day
Didn't Steve Irwin "own" that turtle at one point? I had a turtle that was supposedly 80- something when I got him in the early 90's . He's still alive today, he lives in S.F. w/ other turtles.( this all sounds like a joke but I'm completely serious)
@@saltields7649 He seems like a genuine, sweet guy & I wish him happiness. The mispronunciation really surprised me bc usually he's impressively spot on! I bet he can be a kick to hang out with...or discuss protest options with lol
@@list25 Surely no one expects each & every word/name to be pronounced "correctly" especially since many words have multiple pronunciations. Many, many people have been, & continue to be, impressed & grateful for this skill & attn to detail. "Leaf" likely IS correct according to some people.
When Musa made his pilgrimage, he nearly destroyed the economy of Africa along the Mediterranean. He freely gave out gold. It took another hundred years for it to balance back out again. Source: Fall Of Civilization Podcast
I'm proud to say that I knew about over half of these events, but I was still surprised by the ones I did not. Here's a strange fact that sounds fake but isn't: Once a ship of the English navy was defeated by a cavalry charge. Here's the story: In August 12, 1806, the English crown was trying to take control over the port of Buenos Aires, a Spanish crown colony at the time, to incorporate it into their own colonies, as a sort of Hong Kong of South America (they never actually intended to take over the whole colony, they just wanted the port and all the commerce it would bring because they could tax it). During the battle to retake Buenos Aires by the Spanish, a young cadet named Miguel de Guemes, who grew up to be a leader of the rebeles against Spain during the South American Wars of independence, was in charge of a cavalry unit. An English frigate, the "Justine" was in a river of Buenos Aires when suddenly the tide changed and the river became nothing but a small stream, getting the ship to get stuck in the mud with no possibility of moving until they waited for the river's tide to change again. Guemes and his cavalry unit saw this, and charged at the ship since their horses now could just gallop up to the ship thanks to the low tide (the mud made it difficult, of course, but still possible). They failed in their first attempt as the crew of the Justine fired their cannons at the approaching cavarly. But after regrouping, Guemes led a second cavalry charge that was successful, he and his men boarded the Justine from their horses and took the entire crew as POWs. And that is how a ship was defeated by a cavalry charge.
My favorite fake-sounding history fact? The Defenestration of Prague that helped start the 30 Years' War was neither the first, nor the last, defenestration in Prague.
I can tell you the Vikings discovering Canada is true! How do I know this? Well I was there and when they came ashore to plant their flag, they stuck the pole into my foot! to this very day, I still walk with a limp (also I have to wear a white coat with the arms tied behind me)
False teeth are not gross they give a person like me (genetic disorder) a chance to eat without pain. Most people don't even realize they are false teeth. Please I know it's hard to be funny without upsetting someone but Millions of people have them and to say they are gross implies we don't clean them .
I have them too. I don't think they are saying false teeth are gross, I think they are saying recovering teeth from the dead and using them to make false teeth is gross
You HAD to mention What-A-Burger didn't ya? I moved from AZ back to GA 3 y/ago & there are no WAB's or In & Out's here! The nearest WAB I know of is in Tallahassee, ~8 hrs away! Best burgers in fast food, & I miss them so much! NOW I want both!! Thanks a bunch!! 😁

However, the thing that Lincoln is most remembered for is something he didn't do. Read the Emancipation Proclamation - it freed slaves only in those parts of the South in rebellion against the Union; territory occupied by the Union Army and the entire North was excluded, so it only covered territory Lincoln had no authority over.
The second greatest female pirate was my ancestor and 13th GG Grace O’Malley. Her story is amazing and well worth looking up. YT has several great documentaries about her. 😊
Were the first settlers and slaves in the US considered to be American? If citizenship can be defined as your country of birth rather than the country you move to and apply for citizenship, then Cleopatra WAS an Egyptian.
No slaves weren't counted as citizens until the "two thirds law" because, they weren't considered people, they were considered property. Settlers also were not considered Americans, or else Van Buren wouldn't be the first American President. George Washington is the First President of America, but he isn't the First American President, that would be Martin Van Buren. But I 100% agree with you that if Cleopatra was born in Egypt, she was an Egyptian.
@@Samurai17thc there is another one making the rounds, a popular black artist and his lookalike from generations past. I think List25 might have covered popular people and their historical look alikes
The urine factoid is a bit misleading. Urine was indeed collected, but it was used by dyers to make dyes permanent. For mouthwash, it was definitely DYI..
My family was given the keys to a city in Virginia when we went there over summer vacation to visit my Uncle Marshall, who was the city's mayor. I was only five at the time, but literally all we did to earn it is be related to the mayor (in a very obscure way) and drive all the way from California. We had it displayed on our coffee table until my dad split. But it was literally a huge, gold skeleton key with a plaque on it saying (I think) "to the Californian (our huge family's last name) family on the occasion of their visit to (town)". When I was five, I thought it meant it magically opened every door inside the town. Silly little me
Mike, I am amazed how many names and places in multiple languages you are able to pronounce. Now, tell us how many takes does it require to get them right? Hmm, there must be a List 25 you can about languages. What do you think?
Also, the fact that I’m so Tampa, i didnt even recognize he had on a Bucs shirt until he started talkin bout the pirate lady. That shirt is just so second nature to me lol
In the 1930's, an American Naval Port was attacked from the air. The port was lost. This was only an exercise. In 1941, the Imperial Japanese Navy would do it for real. The port? Pearl Harbor
I saw a documentary about the last of the wooly mammoths and how they actually became extinct because of inbreeding due to them being on an island and only a small population was left on that island.
You put so much work into these that I do appreciate. However one mistake regarding Einstein is that the leader of Israel is a Prime Minister rather than president.
The sails on your Viking Longships, are on backwards, they should be billowing forward, towards the dragon's head, (the same direction as the flag is flying)!
Do the Bucs still sing at football games, 'Make the (other team) walk the plank, and throw them into Tampa Bay!"? My first pro football game was Atlanta at Tampa. Your shirts always make me giggle. Not an anti-Tampa fan, but I did move to Atlanta.
Hello, our awesome Mike 😊. I have 2 black cats they are very loving ❤️. I've found humans to be evil. I've never met an evil animal. Dangerous, yes, but not evil.
The fact People try to use BCE and CE Instead of BC and AD cuz The latter is offensive due to its connotation for the importance of the birth of Christ is so silly to me. Because they’re still using the birth of Christ as the’ pivotal calendar’ date. They didn’t change anything they just changed calling it “before Christ”. And whether you believe that Christ was the son of God or not you got to admit his birth is a pretty important thing in the history of mankind.. It’s like how we try to say on housed instead of homeless or Unalive instead of killed.. Just silly
Urine: In the Middle Ages, urine was used to wash woolen clothes, and to set hair. Dentures: George Washington did not actually use wooden teeth, except possibly as a temporary while his current dentures were worked on. He did, however, reportedly buy teeth from his slaves. Avengers: Don't forget the TV series The Avengers, starring Patrick Macnee and Dianna Rigg. Ketchup/catsup: Coca Cola was invented as a hangover remedy, served at drug store sod fountains, where it was accidentally mixed with soda water and the rest is history. It also contained cocaine, hence coca. Pepsi Cola was invented as a stomach/bowel remedy. Discover America: Siberians came to America circa 10,000--15,000 years ago, and were the ancestors of "Native" American and In Inuits. The Chinese and Polynesians are believed to have been here early, too.
So, assuming a certain knowledge set that your subscribers surely have, most of this list is just common knowledge to our nerdy community. I was surprised to learn about the oldest known bar/tavern/ pub and, if I have a chance to visit Ireland, it's in my itinerary . But I take issue with your assertion that Cleopatra was not Egyptian. It's the same argument made by many crappy Americans; (I think you know what I'm referring to) She was born and bred in Egypt. Therefore she is Egyptian. I dig the channel and I'll continue to support.
Dentures made with the teeth of a deadperson, that's nothing. Imagine being an 18th century tooth donor. Basically, thanks to Wealthy Georgian Britain's obsession with sugary food enterprising dentists started 'transplanting' teeth. Who were the donors of these 'transplanted' teeth? Any poor person (generally teenagers) with a full set of adult teeth. Some dentists wanted to make sure their patient (aka the person getting the tooth) had a tooth that fit their mouth so insisted on having a line of poor people waiting outside, you know... just in case donor one's tooth didn't fit in the patient's mouth
Almost 10 years ago, the man from my town who I gave my cat's other 2 kittens to 7 years earlier, somehow won £108 million in the Euromillions lottery. I then played the same lottery due to my connection to him. 6 weeks later I came up with the next set of winning jackpot numbers, but a lack of pen at the picking station made me buy Lucky Dips instead. Then ALL my masterminded numbers got drawn in the draw. This is decillions to one in odds. Sounds fake, but it happened.
I once wrote the UK lottery numbers on the edge of a newspaper just before the draw and got 5 of them. However i hadn't bought a ticket. I'd probably have picked different numbers if I had anyway.
@@felixjones9198 I could live with that maybe. Imagine quite a few have done similar. What happened to me was immaculate and deeply disturbing. I'm not supposed to be able to work out the lottery numbers though, if I decide to play it, and believe I am owed the prize if I can prove I was able to do that, regardless of if I bought the ticket for the draw. I bought enough tickets. Did what shouldn't be possible in the game. You can read exactly how it happened to me if you like. It's the long pinned comment on this video. Takes about 15 minutes to read and understand it. It's complicated to follow though. It's the damn 10 year anniversary of it all. about now.. watch?v=XLpodkU9f7Q
And it was made with mushrooms long before it was made with tomatoes - that's why it's labeled as 'tomato ketchup' (or catsup), to distinguish it from the mushroom-based version.
What's controversial about Cleopatra not being Egyptian? At that time Alexander the great had already taken over Egypt and cleopatra was Greek. Can u not tell by her portraits? Her nose and ears weren't that way because her parents were siblings. Lol
Particularly because he didn't actually do what he's popularly remembered for. If you _read_ the Emancipation Proclamation, it declared slaves to be free only in the South, and only in territory not under the control of the Union Army - territory over which Lincoln at the time had no authority - so the whole document was just a piece of political grandstanding, with no actual effect. Slaves in the North remained slaves, as did slaves in the parts of the South occupied by the Union Army.
