just looking at this video's title I knew it would be suppressed by youtube. Being an African I know China is not what the West portrays , It urks me when I watch American videos on politics spreading these horrible lies knowingly and unknowingly, just pisses me off. I mean look at the views and look at the likes. What is it with the American people who so clearly are the most naïve people in this world to still believe what they are told so blindly and it is like they refuse to even listen to the truth. Brainwashing is truly a real deal. Thank you for keeping it real and 100%honest when it comes to the actual China and it's people

Great interview, appreciate your insights which MSM doesn’t cover here in 🇨🇦/🇺🇸. However, I am fed up with the apologetic “🇨🇳 is not perfect” mantra. We need to push back and challenge other countries with a rebuttal “Is your country perfect?” Based on the declining economies of the West, with increasing poverty, I think not. At least the CPC is doing wonders for its people, far more than Western leaders focused on their warmongering.

The Chinese government has put caps on real estate price increases, reduced VAT tax, and devalued Chinese currency in the last few years. thanks for your insight , people from Shanghai a lot more influenced by the western “values “ , I met a lot of tourists from Shanghai before the pandemic, most of them had very strong ideology such as “ we Chinese never had one person one vote systems” ,” I am really like the democracy of the USA” those people made a lot of money in China but never appreciated the facts and keep smear their mother land , have zero clue what happened in the west , yes some area more difficult to make money in China that’s because in the last 40 years, they make money too easy and today these areas are not easy anymore, such as real estate, low end manufacturing etc , they don’t want upstate their economy mode and try to find a excuse for their American dream since childhood, most of them I met just sent all of their money to USA and bought a big house and enjoying the life, they don’t care the homeless people everywhere because they don’t live those areas . If I was CPC I wouldn’t allow them to send money to overseas to smear their country every day like “ China is communist country and I don’t feel my money is safe blablabla . Those are not good human beings, some of them live in China in their whole lives but know nothing about China, some of them even smeared “ the Covid was created by CPC “ , I was sick of them

The foreign tourists will enjoy walking around China just with your smartphone as well as Chinese.

It's so ridiculous to fantasize about dividing the relationship between the Chinese government and the Chinese people. In fact, the thinking of Chinese people is completely different from that of Westerners. Westerners think that the people and the government are independent, but the Chinese don’t think so. "Unlike Hongkong, which has an increased inequality, ridiculous high property prices, and high cost of living." True. A lot of issue had already existed before 1997 and could be contributed to the "legacies" from the British colony era. Quite a large portion of housing properties are owned by the establishments from that era (who were likely benefited from British governance). Such "legacies" is like a minefield that has so many complications. It will take quite some time and delicate work to change these while not completely pissing off the establishments (any society still needs to attract rich people to invest). The HKSAR government is the one makes actual policies in Hongkong and could have done a better job. But with bias media and a lot of twisted narratives from local Hongkong media and western media, young generation of Hongkong people simply blame the main land China government for all these problems. Some portion of this young generation of HK people envy how well nearby Shenzhen is doing economically while are seeing not much hope for their condition to improve. Devils (or truth, and solutions) are often in the details, and the young generation usually demands solutions now and could care less about the details.

@George-rj4fj

@@mimikolomamu Why not? I use VPN here in Australia when conducting business online too. The Chinese Government wants to ensure that ordinary citizens do not get influenced the wrong way through freely accessible social media junk (I don't like social media myself because of their wrong influences on my children as their contents are not properly policed. Even You Tube is not as "innocent" as there are sites such as "serpentza" and "WION" as well as those that are virulently anti-China, propagating misinformation (lies) about the country and the people). The CPC regards itself as a responsible parent to its people and responsible parents try to ensure that their children are kept from sources that would affect them adversely. However, while VPN is not legal in China, it is not illegal to use it. Consider too, the "Dark Web" - why are there people in the West who'd want to access that very dark side of the internet? Curiosity - a need to discover and taste the "forbidden fruit - is the answer to both cases.

Shaun is really speaking the truth about China. I am really surprised and impressed that I can tell Shaun has 100% no prejudices which is really good for me to see that. I've seen lots of foreigners that coming to china making vlogs nowadays, but most of them just tryna make some money out of it, they ain't really speak something that are really insightful points with 100% honesty, all they tryna say is how great it is to living in chian and how much he loves China, all I know is that he's making bank with that fake patriotism, and he knows chinese people loves to hear that shit, so for this meeting I really appreciated that how precious is this meeting about, straight to the point, real talk right there, good sides and bad sides all comes to the table. However China still has a long way to go and there's still a lot of areas and policies that need to be enhanced and adjusted in the future. Maybe it's gonna take 5-10 years or even longer but it's all just a matter of time. All I can tell is China and the Chinese new generation is ready to embrace the world with peace, everything is just gonna be better, and that's fasho. But I do agree that chinese people and chinese government really need to learn and being open about criticizes, but what I really believes is that as long as you really speaking the truth and really trying to improve the society and policy system, without deliberate fabrication of false news and rumors, I think chinese people and chinese government are willing to accept and learn from it with humble manner.

To improve relationships with China the US needs to do the following: - Respect China or any other nation. Don’t impose the American system of government, American values & beliefs etc on another nation. - Lift all sanctions against China. - Stop trying to contain China’s peaceful rise. - Remove all the warships, submarines etc from the South China Sea, under the pretext or bullshit about “freedom of navigation”. China has used these waters to trade with the world, for centuries. Why would China not allow freedom of navigation?? - Stop publishing fake news, misinformation etc against China. The various businesses I did there were not interested in talking politics - not once, ever. They were only interested in talking business and conducting business on a fair and equitable level. If and when a mistake has been made at their end, they have always been extremely quick to admit fault and fix the problem immediately - no excuses, no pontificating, no arguments, no debating, no procrastinating - and we loved that. I have also been dealing with some large American firms and unfortunately, their treatment is very much different towards their customers which was based on a position upon who dominates whom in a business meeting.

On an individual level, it is true that the Chinese people are largely friendly, genuine and hospitable people if you are not rude to them. But if you try to humiliate, insult or accuse them unjustifiably, then the Chinese will not hold back too as the Chinese are hardworking people who take themselves and people around them seriously. To the Western nations, the Chinese are uncouth or rude when they talk loudly or appear overbearing at times but they are actually quite harmless and harbour no ill intentions. It is just their emphasis of expression in treating everyone as fellow beings rather than as an individual which is encapsulated in the Chinese motto "四海之内皆兄弟也" aka " We are all brothers from different continents"。This is where the values or perception differ greatly between the Western nations and China. The Western nations are seeing the Chinese through tinted glasses, feel irrationally upset and became critical. No doubt there are black sheeps since China is such a huge country composed of a diverse and highly stratified population. On the geo-political differences hurting the economy, I actually feel that the biggest hurdle to bring back the foreign investments in China is the inching towards a socialist economy by the CCP with its common prosperity manifesto. The foreign capitalists are naturally worried of the challenges with operating under such a system which goes against their profit maximisation principle. The financial theory on risk rewards does not quite add up and hence the reluctance to return to China.

I think Cyrus Jenssen and Shaun Rein are two awesome guys. I always like hearing what they have to say. And it is very clear that they both love the US and China. And I hope they continue to keep up the good work of portraying the good side of China to the US. As a Chinese American, I have been following the development of the Chinese economy for the last 40 years. And this is because I always wanted the land of my parents to become a modern country like those in the West. And I have come to the conclusion that the tensions between China and the US, in the long run, will benefit China (provided that a military conflict does not occur or that an all out trade war does not occur). And to a certain degree, the tensions are even necessary for China’s development. Case in point is the latest assault on China’s semiconductor industry. It is better that it occurs now than later on when China has further developed other industries like the artificial intelligence. This forces buyers within China to buy semiconductors from other Chinese companies. Sure, the quality (and speed) won’t be as good as buying from foreign manufacturers. But at least the Chinese market will slowly lose the foreign option and direct purchases to Chinese entities. It will be very painful for the Chinese, but in the long run, it will be good for them. Chinese semiconductor manufacturers won’t develop to its potential without buyers. Industrial policies are never popular, not only are they not liked by a country’s trading partners, it is also not very popular within the country that is practicing the industrial policies. Trade tensions with the US removes the US option as a source and forces Chinese manufactures to buy semiconductors from other Chinese manufactures all at the same time putting the blame on the US. This reality will play out again in other industries. For example, as China continues to develop its jet engine for commercial airplanes, there will come a point when the Chinese public will have to accept a Chinese built jet engine. The US will eventually deny China the sales of American made jet engines. The Chinese public may be reluctant to fly on an airplane with Chinese engines on it. However, if the US denies the sales of jet engines to Chinese airplane manufacturers, then there won’t be any choice except to use Chinese jet engines. And again it will be blamed on the US. But without buyers, Chinese jet engine manufactures won’t be able to reach its full potential. The CCP’s long-term goal is to become independent of Western technology. But China will have to practice industrial policies for a while longer. And resistance to it from within China can be significantly tempered by tensions with the US. I personally don’t believe that the US is trying to contain China. But instead, to slow China down, so that the US can work on its own security concerns. Like moving some semiconductor manufacturing from Taiwan and South Korea to the US.

Thank you for the interview. Shaun's on the ground insight is indispensable. Unfortunately, I agree with him that the next few years may be rough and may be even cataclysmic if some individuals are willing to bet the world's future by crossing China's red line. From an economic and survival standpoint for China, I believe a very good foundation is being built with the multiple complimentary resource rich and manufacturing deals that were made with all of the developing nations, including Saudi Arabia and Iran. I am hoping that the economic fruits from the BRI will begin to ripen and enrich all the nations that are participating. I got the sense that the CPC is building up defenses for the worse case scenario, even if one wishes very much for events not to continue to veer in that direction. However, I would rather that the CPC lead China to war than for China to be bullied by the US and its cohorts.

Nobody will cross the Red line. Because every grand nation nowadays has hypersonic transatlatic rockets-- an argument even more powerfull than formerly in the Colditz war

@@lttan2867 If it does then the Chinese have only themselves to blame. They successfully try to be enemies to everyone, then cry victimhood when they experience blowback.

Cyrus, I am your fan and I love your videos. Since your got an expert can you just ask question and let your guest talk with less from your opinion. Shaun Rein is a great expert and can we have another interview here and allow us to listen to him; I want to hear more from Shaun about the Chinese economy and the directions forward
