When I was 18 I left home and had to start learning how to adult quick. The foreman was one the first purchases I made along side a camping stove since the place i moved into didn't have a working kitchen. For 6 months that grill became my best friend. Still used regularly to this day 13 years on. They are absolute powerhouses and easy enough to clean for the most inebriated at 2 in the morning.

Really impressive from the old George Foreman. As an American, I'd have only cooked it about half the time, so maybe it wouldn't have been quite as nice of a crust, but for something that's been around so long, it's hard to make fun of the thing! Actually, from my own experience using an old Foreman a number of years ago, you DON'T get the greatest grill marks etc if you're cooking medium-rare to medium-ish. I suspect it's probably because it just doesn't have the mass to retain the heat required. Even still, these things definitely have their place. Great video! :)

I'm older than the GFG but never owned one. I picked up a beautiful used stainless steel one with a timer for $5 the other day and I love it. I've made burgers, reheated American chop suey, eggs over hard with hash-browns, and tonight I made pancakes with it. I'm in love. They all have come out as you would expect each item to be. I don't even have to form my patties. I just put two lumps of ground beef on the grill, closed the lid, pressed down gently and got wonderful hamburger patties compared to yours. I cut two thick slices of onion and grilled them on there too. My burgers didn't shrink. Everything was beautiful. It pours the grease off and just enough remains to remain non-stick. I don't wash my non-sticks. I wipe them out with paper towel when they're still hot and gets it clean every time.

So just really quick. You cooked the foreman's way too long. It cooks both sides at the same time. Max is 4 to 5 minutes for a hamburger to get it well done 😂. That was one of the main things about it. It cooks twice as fast

Wow this is like the exact comparison I wanted to see. I have been using George Foreman's my whole life and still daily one, and I wanted to upgrade to a Ninja Grill. The cleanup process is the main concern I have, it is simply too easy to wipe down the George! I also don't have a dishwasher or running water at all here. Seems annoying to clean the Ninja after each use... Decisions, decisions!

I owned an old Foreman, one of the larger models with the selectable temp and used it until the hinge broke. I loved that thing. I replaced with a Cuisinart that also had a griddle feature, but the grill simply didn't compare plus it dripped all the fat on the counter not in the drip tray, just a bad design. The original still works.

Oooof in Canada they make you grill well done? My wife likes them that way but she’s not from America but Honduras lol, the frozen burgers are making me cringe a bit too. Have a George Foreman at least 20 years old - has removable grills - a MUST! Doing some research to see about getting a new one because the handles on the grills are cracked. Just cooked up some pork today, in fact. Use parchment paper so there is literally zero clean up except the drip tray 👍🏼 Maybe I’ll stick with the GF. Also never flipped. Use it all the time for salmon - 7 minutes max

Don't know why but I completely forgot I had one of Forman grills that was handed down from my mom after she was clearing out some junk. I dusted it off and made some chicken thighs yesterday and it still holds up! You just have to watch it to make sure it doesn't overcook or burn the top. I had no idea that the original model was from '94 because I was living in Hawaii at that time and they weren't popular there. It didn't make sense to have an indoor grill because the weather is mild and everyone had some kind of hibachi grill to grill outside.

There are a lot of powerful 2000 watt panini grills like the tefal optigrill line that I wonder how would stack up to the ninja indoor grills, because the panini style grills are so much smaller and more storable, it seems to be a huge advantage,

I am new to the George Foreman burger world, and started with a worn out single cooker. I got excellent results with frozen patties, timing them for 6 minutes after stabilized temperature. Never fail success. I have just purchased a new Evolve cooker, with removable plates. I find that I am having to cook the burgers a little longer, but they still turn out juicy and tasty. I have not experimented with doing other dishes on this cooker, but have no regrets about buying the Evolve cookert, as I like having the convenience of the removable plates. I wouldn't mind having the deep dish plate, but because of the cost, and other available utensils, I doubt that I will be buying it.

I still have it... although I haven't used it in awhile (10 yrs)...it now sits in its original packaging in my storage room...we also used it during campouts..works great.. some campgrounds have electric hookups. So more expensive, more difficult to clean and take longer to cook. It probably breaks down easier as well as more complex things always do. I have a one-person George Foreman grill and it cost me. $25 brand new. It is great and so easy to clean that I wipe it as soon as I cook before eating. This saves reheating it and doesn't let anything dry on it. It takes less than 30 seconds and so my food is still hot. Maybe not as important to Americans but in the UK electricity is now so expensive turning on the oven for 30 minutes costs $3. In Germany, it is so bad now that they are avoiding cooking at all. Because of the war and lack of gas.

We still have our 23yr old George foreman grill. I cook frozen bubba burgers 7-8 minutes and don't flip them. They come out nice and juicy. The thought process at least at the time in the US regarding countertop kitchen appliances was two things 1) Compactness 2) Animal fat bad so the appliances were designed to cook and drain away all of the goodness out of the meat. We also bought a newer larger George foreman grill with a slider type temperature setting and removable grill plates. The slider broke after only using it a like 5 times. Also the grease catcher was way smaller and thus overflowed all the time. So it's now resting somewhere in a landfill

@@TheAverageKitchenYou're welcome. I can believe its lasted as long as it has, we live in Florida and we actually take it the beach with us when we go on vacation because its small. I just got a hamilton beach indoor grill that has a cover for x-mas so we'll see how that works compared to the GF grill. I cook most things in the air fryer nowadays. There are lots of appliances today we didn't really have 25yrs ago. And now of course animal fat isnt really considered that bad.

@@oscardelta1257 You’re joking, right? Hamburger grease is terrible for you! Animal fat is _NOT HEALTHY._ It causes heart disease, ffs.

We were just showing how they cook on the grills. Seasoning wouldn't have added value to that test. Thanks for watching. - J

Great video really like how you tickle a waffle iron that cooks meat that to a preset temperature and compared it to a temperature-controlled air fryer

I wonder if that air fryers going to last for 30 years cuz I still like my Foreman them air fryers are nice for certain things like frying Pizza pizza pockets and stuff like that I like making canned biscuits on them Foreman grills they're pretty good

I dunno. Maybe it was because we owned to "1st editions" that GFGs sucked. We got them on discount since I worked at a store that sold them. The grease would miss the driptray and get all over the counter. You couldn't fit "fat" burgers into the grill and they'd cook unevenly requiring you to flip them anyway. Forget about sauté. The 2-stage cleaning process was a PITA (reheating the grill to clean it rather than just being able to using soapy water and/or soft sponge. The grease also caked up in corners so you'd smell it everytime you passed by it. Finally the hinges broke on both grills (mind you these grills were in two different households). These were just highfalutin waffle irons that were being name-branded. In the time it took to finish a family pack of hamburger meat I could cook it all in a pan, oven, or fire up the grill (for outdoors). Airfryers have made them even more obsolete since they serve a multi-function purpose. I still have a GFG sitting on a shelf collecting greaseballs for like the last 10 years maybe alongside the Ninja chopper and several other Only-For-TV gimmick purchases.
